Blue laid face down on his and Red’s shared bed, unable to continue sleeping. He would’ve loved to sleep in, however he had a Flareon on his back, a Vapeoreon on his legs, and a Jolteon repeatedly smacking him on the head to attempt to awake him. There was also two sets of voices screaming at him in his head, which he could verify as Alakazam and Exeggutor using their abilities to harass him for breakfast. “I’m awake, you can knock it off now!” Blue grumbled. There was an impatient whine from one of the various hungry Pokemon, but at least Flareon and Vaporeon got off him. Blue sat up, turning his head to glare at Red, who had his team patiently waiting for him, the only one being pushy was Pikachu, and even then was only pawing at Red occasionally. “Why do you have all the luck?” Blue said light heartedly, chucking a pillow at his husband’s back. Red didn’t reply, as usual, but turned his slightly to give him an unimpressed look. “Not my fault you can’t tell how late it is half the time.” Blue shrugged, before getting up and following his train of Pokemon to the kitchen.
He opened the cupboards, and hummed in consideration. “I didn’t know we had pokepuffs. It would save time if that was their breakfast…” He pulled the box out, causing immediate excitement among the gathered Pokemon. “Calm down, I need to make sure there’s enough here for everyone!” Blue said, before counting the remaining baked goods. It was a bakers dozen, just shy of enough for everyone, including Red’s team. “Crap…” Somehow Red had entered the room without him noticing, and he cleared his throat, pointing at the cupboard. Blue looked again, and there was a smaller box of pokepuffs, with exactly 2 more pokepuffs. He gave Red a grateful smile, before turning towards the horde of Pokemon to give out their much desired food.
The two husbands sat at the table, drinking coffee with the now peaceful energy in the air surrounding them. Red had a small grimace on his face, staring at Blue’s mug with disdain. Blue was extremely proud of this, as he had selected the mug most likely to annoy Red on their honeymoon. Blue glanced under the table as Pikachu scrambled by, Jolteon in tow. Pikachu was squealing with excitement, and Jolteon yipped happily. Sitting back up, he took another sip before breaking the relative silence. “So, what should we do today? It’s more snowy than usual so if we’re going anywhere we’ll have to bundle up. We could get away with not going out, but I’m wondering how good of an idea that is, considering we haven’t gone out in a hot minute and there’s only so long until the little Giratinas start picking fights with each other if we don’t take them to a route or battle.” Blue’s voice betrayed his distaste at the idea of going outside in snow up to his shins. Red tilted his head in thought, humming in thought. He slowly and deliberately signed a reply. “We could try to battle in the back, but you’d probably scream through the door to give your team instructions.” Blue gave Red an unimpressed look. “I’m not THAT against winter.” Red huffed a small laugh, and Blue couldn’t help but feel a warmth in his chest. Red wasn’t a stick in the mud or anything, far from it, but Blue didn’t hear him laugh or see him smile often. It was nice. Blue slid his hand across the table, silently asking for Red’s hand. Red slid his hand under Blue’s, intertwining his fingers with his husband’s. The nice moment couldn’t last long, as there was a crash from the living room. Blue looked over at Red, and the two reluctantly let go to see what trouble the electric types had gotten into.
As the morning turned to afternoon to evening, the day remained somewhat quiet. However, after supper, it was clear that the Pokemon NEEDED to get energy out. They were pacing the apartment, repeatedly going by the potion cabinet and staring at the two, and playing a bit rougher than usual. Blue went to warm up to dodging any stray moves, and as he was finishing up, there were suddenly distressed screeches and cries from downstairs. Blue practically skipped the staircase entirely to go see what was going on. He arrived simultaneously to Red. It was Flareon and Pikachu, the two were fighting. This wouldn’t be an issue if they were just sparring, but they were very clearly genuinely fighting. Blue and Red rushed towards them, pulling at their respective Pokemon. Flareon’s fur was hotter than usual, nearly burning Blue’s hands. It flailed in Blue’s grasp, biting at Pikachu’s ears, to which it responded with a slow growl, clearly charging up to shock Flareon. Red grabbed Flareon’s muzzle, and spoke in a low, harsh tone. “Cut it out.” Blue felt vaguely attracted to how deep and almost sultry Red’s voice was, but the context of the words kept him from lingering on it. Luckily, Flareon and Pikachu had gotten the message, and stopped fighting. Flareon’s fur was still hotter than usual, but it was cooler than before. “What do you think they were fighting about, neither of them are usually aggressive, I would’ve thought Gyarados would’ve started a fight.” Red looked away, shrugging. He looked troubled, but headed towards the back door. Blue called after him, shifting Flareon to be held with one arm rather than hands. Flareon was almost entirely calm again, and currently lifting it’s head to lick Blue’s chin. “I’ll be a moment, give me a second!” He headed towards the sink, which caused the Pokemon in his arms to stop licking him, but it didn’t struggle. “I’m not giving you a bath, I need to make sure my hands aren’t burnt.” He turned on the tap, on the coldest setting, and stuck his hands in the stream of water. He winced as his hands stung with cold, but remained for a few minutes. He decided it had been long enough, and he turned off the water, grabbing his coat and heading outside.
“You ready to get a good beating?” Blue yelled out, standing on the back porch with his arms crossed. Red rolled his eyes, and Blue laughed, before turning to his team of Pokemon, plus his eeveelutions. “Alakazm, Arcanine, Gyrados, I’m gonna use the ‘eons for this first battle, but you’ll get your chance to battle it out, k?” Alakazm nodded, and the other two seemed a bit irritated but didn’t protest, and obediently stepped aside. He nodded, and pointed. “Right, Flareon, go!” Red silently sent out Blastiose, and his lips moved. Clearly he was saying a command, but Blue couldn’t hear it from where he stood. “Flareon, use reflect!” Immediately, clear shards surrounded it. Red pointed, and Blastoise threw its head back, preparing to use hydro pump. “Flareon, quick, use fire spin!” Blue shouted, knowing that getting some chip damage out of the way would be helpful, since it was unlikely Flareon would be able to dodge it in time. Flareon let out a loud cry, a spiral of flare spurting from its mouth. It surrounded Blastoise just as it released hydro pump. It hit Flareon, and the fire type flew backwards sliding in the snow on the ground. Digging its Pokeball out of his pockets, Blue returned it. He was a bit irked, but he just shrugged it off. “It’s time to get serious then.”
The two went at it for hours, and by the time they were done, it was 1:45 AM. Blue had ended up winning less overall, but he still won a couple battles. After the couple healed their exhausted Pokemon, Blue leaned back on his hands, yawning. He was hungry, and tired, and a bit bruised, and he would undoubtedly be sore all over his body by tomorrow morning, but he would be damned if he wasn’t grinning like an idiot. Pokemon battles were what made it worth all the struggles with the teams. The trust between them, the determination, the acceleration… He jumped a bit upon feeling a thump at his side, but immediately relaxed upon realizing it was Red, leaning against him. He had a small smile on his face, but also seemed as in need of a refresh as Blue. Blue cleared his throat, and Red opened one eye to look at him. “Wanna head over to the Pokemart? Maybe pick up something to eat?”
The two left their Pokemon at home, and headed down. The two held hands, Blue’s gloved hand grasping Red’s ungloved hand. Blue would normally have lightly teased him for it, but right now they just walked in silence. Even if Blue wanted to talk, he felt his mind drifting repeatedly to how low and seductive Red’s voice had been. How his lips looked when he spoke…. He looked over at Red, who was gazing up at the stars. His eyes were half open like usual, but Blue could see the twinkle of wonder in them, like how he had looked back when they started out on their journey. Blue looked away again, trying to focus on the path ahead of them. After a while, he looked back over at Red, who was now looking at him. They stopped, staring at each other. Blue let go of Red’s hand, placing his arms around Red’s collarbones. Red’s slowly crept to wrap around Blue’s waist. They stared at each other, and Red tilted his head, eyes deliberately moving to look at Blue’s lips as he asked for his consent to continue. Blue nodded slightly, and they almost simultaneously started to kiss… and then they started to make out. They would break away a moment to breath, before delving back in. Blue was fucking elated, and would’ve been fine to go on for hours, but eventually they would have to stop to go into the Pokemart, which he noticited they were at about a minute in. But they could probably stay there a while longer… No one was around.
