Kayla was at the archery range to let out their emotions.They nocked an arrow when from the corner of their eye ,saw someone.Kayla could not make out who it was , so they returned to nocking their arrow and then taking a shot.Bullseye.
“Kai?”
Kayla turns around and saw Nyssa.
”Niss?”
”Come let’s go into the infirmary.”
Kayla knew what this ment.Will was dying and had a small chance at survival.Kayla ran into the infirmary and found where Will was.
”Kay.”
”Will , I love and I’m going to miss you and I will make you proud.”
”I love you too and I trust you can do anything.”Will pulls them into a hug.
”Can you also check in on Nico for me after I go , ok little archer?”
Kayla begins to sob.”I I can.Did Nico come in yet?”
”He already did , said he wanted to make sure I saw you.”
Will’s becomes pale and his eyes become glassy and he is about to take his final breath when Nico comes in.
”Tesoro , It’s ok you can go.I help look after the cabin with Kayla.I’ll be fine besides , you’ll leave this fucked up place.I love you.”
“I love you too.Kay , I’m sorry. I’ll miss all of you.”
And after that , Will took his final breath.
”Please say hello to Lee and Michael for me.”
Kayla ran into Nyssa’s arms and broke down.
”I have to create the shroud and and become head counselor.I can’t do that ,I just can’t.Me Austin and Will were the only ones who survived the Battle Of Manhattan.Austins at school in Harlem,Will’s dead and know it’s just me.I have to let everyone know.Oh my gods what am I going to tell Naomi?And and…”
Nyssa cuts them off.
”Kayla , Kayla look at me. Everything is going to be ok. Ok, everything will be shitty for sometime.But you can’t do all the work.”
”I’ll Iris Message Naomi to let her know Kay.”
”You do that Nico?”
”Yeah , besides like Nyssa said.You can’t do everything by yourself.”
”That’s true.”
Kayla went to their cabin to break the news.”
”Apollo Cabin please listen.”
The whole cabin came and sat down to listen.
“I am know the head counselor because because.” Gods they could not do this.”Will is dead.” They left the details that they found him in the apollo cabin bathroom.Whole body covered in wounds and blood.A monster attack.
“What no.” Abigail broke into tears. Abigail was the youngest in the cabin and Kayla walked over and pulled her into a hug.
After the hug Kayla went to work on the shroud.They grabbed a nice shade of yellow fabric and embroidery thread in many colors.
Looking at the fabric , Kayla started to sob.That was when Kayla really realized they would never see Will again.Because Will was dead.They started to embroider Bi , trans and rainbow flags on the shroud.They also added little suns and his name.Not Will , his full name.William Andrew Solace.Head Counselor Of Cabin Seven , well former because that role was now filled by Kayla even though they wished Lee , Michael or Will still had it because they would do better than them.Kayla finished their part of the shroud and brought it over to the Hades Cabin for Nico to do his part.They knocked on the door and it opened.
”Here’s the shroud.”
”Thank you.”Nico pulled them into a hug.”You looked like you needed it.
”Yeah I did ,thank you.”
Kayla went back to their cabin and grabbed a notebook.Kayla had decided to write letters to Will about what is happening at camp.They hoped that he could read these , even though they both have dyslexia. They grabbed a rainbow pen and started writing.
