The way this infection works is that it's transferred if blood is drawn by someone who is already infected, it seems to act as some sort of venom.
it makes you grow fangs so it's much easier to draw the blood and thus infect another person.
The only exception to this is the first cookie infected, Alchemist Cookie, who is the only one who was infected differently than the others, by having a strange chemical she was working with spilled on her.
There are 4 stages.
Stage one of infection: pale skin, coughing jam/blood, fangs seem to grow, small and ignorable craving for dough.
Stage two of infection: icing falling off, staring into the abyss, impulse to destroy, stronger craving.
Stage three of infection: much more likely to attack, passing out, craving almost unignorable.
Stage four of infection: all humanity lost, will lunge at you on sight, all of the above except to much higher intensity.
This strange infection doesn't seem to affect cookies who can shapeshift as easily (eg; Sorbet Shark Cookie, Shadow Milk Cookie, Cream Unicorn Cookie), as it seems that shifting can easily get the infection out of your system.
It is incredibly hard to treat this if it isn't caught early on.
