Mr. DJ, please play my favorite song
Kazuma Kawahara Story
P1
Music as you always believe is what connects each and everyone of us. Music serves as a medium when you can't say yourself what you really feel inside. It was the easiest way to let your thoughts out. You always viewed music as a powerful being that gives things a motion. It was the best for you. It was your source of happiness, strength.
Until the day came that the one you love most is taken from you because of music. Until the day came that you started hating music.
Music was what brought you to the one you love and it also pushed the one you love away from you.
Your fiance was a composer and you were a DJ. Both of your lives was always full of melody. Every couple envies the two of you. But then your fiance was offered a great job overseas. He said it was his biggest dream as a composer. You said you will support him no matter what even if you have to start a long distance relationship.
It was okay at first, but as time pass by he started getting distant saying he's busy with the compositions and such. You let it slide. Until the day came where you can't contact him anymore. Like he disappeared and you were so worried.
Then the news of your fiance being married to another composer reached your ears. You were betrayed. You were hurt. You shut yourself in. You turn to focusing on mixing musics for bars and events and that's when you realize it.
You hated music.
It was what brought you misery and you can't listen to it the same way anymore. It does not heal you anymore.
You quit being a DJ, much to everyones' disappointments because you were a great DJ. You packed all your CDs and components. Everything that reminds you of music you hid them in the storage. You said you'll throw it away when you have time. But the truth is you just can't.
You erased it in your life.
Or so you thought.
Until you met another man.
"I don't want to. How many times do I have to tell you I quit already." You said as you pace around the bookstore. Storing books on the shelves and arranging some.
After you quit your job you worked for your uncle's bookstore. His store is big already so adding staff isn't that bad. But recently your bestfriend had started bothering you. He had a bar business and had expanded it too. He was convincing you to be a DJ of his latest bar branch.
"Come on! You don't have to work alone now (Your Name). There is this other DJ and he was so good too! But his music would be more cool if combined with yours." He said desperately and following you around like a puppy.
"Then go find another one." You said simply trying your best to ignore him.
"Well I did and I can't find anyone of your caliber. I've known you long enough to know how you make music. You always makes me at awe whenever you stand on that podium making everyone enjoy and have the best time of their lives. You don't know how many people were saddened that you quit. (Your name) why don't you just give it another chance. Just try this one night. And if you really think that you can't make music anymore and that you can't stand on stage anymore then I will rest my case. How's that sound (Your Name)?" Your friend ended his long speech and looked at you seriously.
You tried questioning yourself. Would it really make it worth it? Are you willing to stand side by side with music once again? Can you really make it again? But before you can answer him yourself someone joined the two of you.
"Isn't that a good idea? Why don't try doing it (Your Name)?" You look behind you to see your uncle standing there with a smile.
"Uncle?"
"You've been working hard these days. Why don't you try it?" Your uncle encourage you. Your uncle knows everything about you, especially your passion for music. He was one of the people who was saddened the most with your decision but he respected it and helped you.
"See?? Your uncle thought so too." Your friend seems more eager to fight back knowing he was being backed up. What is this? Pick on you time?
"I have work." You said simply but then knowing you've lost your battle. "Not if I said so." Your uncle countered and you sighed in defeat.
"Fine. I'll go. But if I won't enjoy it this will be the last." You said setting your lines and your friend nodded eagerly in understanding.
"Then you'll just have to see for yourself. My bar isn't famous for nothing." Your friend countered back and you hit him lightly with a book. "Stop being over confident. Then? How would you like it to be?" You asked pertaining to the music.
"That I'm leaving in your capable hands. I'm pretty sure you and Kawahara-san will be a good combi!" He said again. "We'll see on that day what that Kawahara-san you speak so highly of can do." You countered back.
"You won't regret it. I swear." Your friend promised and went on his own merry way after telling you that he'll message the other details to you later on. You sighed again and looked at your uncle who gave you an encouraging smile.
"Everything will be ok. Want me to be there on your comeback?" He asked and you shook your head in anusement. "It's not really a comeback. I just want him to be out of my case. But if it's not much trouble I'd appreciate it."
Your uncle laughed a bit at what you said. "Is that so? But I hope you'll come back soon."
"That's something I can't assure you." You finally said with a hint of wistfulness in your voice as you turn back to your work again and your uncle left you and your thoughts.
Can you really go back?

It was a pain in the ass pulling out all of your equipment from the storage but you manage in the end. It had also taken too much brooding to get yourself to start something. It has been a long time since the last time you listened to something. As much as you can you keep on avoiding music.
You tried clicking the last mix you had before things got awry. You put on your headphones once again and closed your eyes as the music drifted on your ears.
As the music flows so is the memories starting from the good ones then the bad ones. You clench your fists and without further ado you started clicking on to your laptop.
You checked online what is the latest music these days since you haven't been updated for a long time. And just like how air is essential you felt yourself able to breath again. And you came into a conclusion.
You haven't lost it yet.
Music is ingrained in your mind, body and soul. It was hard to part with it. As you browse you stumble with good songs you wanted to try mixing.
This is your ground. And you find yourself enjoying and missing it so much. Though it took you long enough to find the appropriate music to add, finally you were satisfied. It's a good thing that you haven't lost your touch in music. You nodded your head in approval and saved everything. Tomorrow you will meet your so-called partner. You wonder what his taste in music is.

You gaze around in awe as you came inside the bar your friend owns. It has been a long time anyway. "Gorgeous isn't it?" He asked with a shit eating grin. You nodded your head and you can hear your uncle talking with your friend as you walk around and suddenly you stumbled with someone.
You were about to fall on your butt but someone caught you, winding their arm around your waist, the other around your shoulder. "Are you okay?" A kind voice asked and you looked at the speaker amd be greeted by a handsome man with a top hat. You nodded your head and he let you go.
"I'm sorry about earlier I was busy arranging the wires I didn't notice you." He said apologetically and you were about to say sorry also when a voice interrupted you.
"Ah! There you are (Your Name)!! We were looking for you-- ah! So you've met Kawahara-san." It was your friend and he went to your side and patted your back introducing you.
"Kawahara?" You asked confused which your friend nodded.
"Yeah. He will be your partner. Kawahara-san this is my friend that I'm talking about." Your friend introduced the two of you to each other and Kawahara-san offered his hand.
"Kawahara Kazuma. It's nice to finally meet you." You shook his offered hand and gave a small smile. "(Your Name) likewise Kawahara-san. Let's do our beat in making this the time of their lives." He nodded in agreement and your friend guided the two of you to the stage.
"I'll be leaving the two of you. Get along! And (Your Name)! Don't cause too much trouble!" Your friend chided which you returned with a scowl and Kawahara-san laughed at it.
When it was only the two of you, you started working and connecting wires to your laptop. "So (Your Name)-san? What kind of music do you usually mix?" Kawahara-san asked conversationally.
"I'm not usually that picky with music. As long as it sounds good in my ears I alwayd go with it. Though it's been a long time since I've done a mix." You said not looking at him but crouching down to look at your laptop and you did not notice that he was looking at you until he came closer and crouch down beside you also.
"Hmmm. I see." He said with a slight smile though you don't know why but his sudden appearance almost made you jump.
"Kawahara-san will you listen to this one. I made it yesterday. You can add your own input on it. I plan to start with this (1) and then loop it with this one (2)."
You said pertaining to the music you had in line. Kawahara-san took his headphone listening to the music and he nodded his head with a big smile. "Whoah! This is good! A good way to start.. Nice. The next one. Hmmmm. You're a good one!" He said excitedly with a wide smile looking it you. You shook your head. "No not really."
"What are you saying?? Your friend was right. You're really good at this." He praised you and you felt a blush on your cheeks. "It just came to me I guess."
"So you haven't lost it yet." Kawahara-san whispered but you didn't quiet catch what he said. "What is it?" "Ah! No it's nothing. Why don't you listen to this? I made this one." He said while laughing it off. Whatever that is.
You took your own headphone and listen to his own mix. And you fell in love with it. His mix and song choice are good almost the same as yours. You gave him a thumbs up and a smile and you two work together to set things up before the bar opened with snall chats here and there.
It was packed when the bar opened and it was time for the two of you to welcome them. "Everyone!! Welcome to (Name of Bar) who's ready to start this party??!!!" You shouted even though you had a mic and everyone shouted back with so much energy.
"This is DJ (Your Name) and-" you gestured beside you and Kawahara-san continued, "DJ Kawahara Kazuma. Everyone!! Are you ready??!! Let's all be pumped up in 3 2 1!!"
And so the music (3) started. And you jumped along with the others. It has been a long time since you've felt like this. Since you've felt so free. This is what you've been missing.
You looked beside you and smiled a genuine wide smile towards Kawahara-san. You mouthed a thank you to him and then you looked towards the people on the dance floor again.
You didn't notice the blush on Kawahara-san's face as he look at you with a wide smile. He shook his head and joined you in jumping together with the other people. Swaying your body to the music.
"I'll break free coz I can't resist it no more!"
