Chapter Text
March 22nd, 2026
Light humming came from the room as Hannah knelt down on the ground of her room. She has definitely changed since disventure camp almost two years ago. More confident, happier, longer hair, and “perfectly happy” dating a millionaire.
Her hands dug through the bottom of her closet, full of junk she and Logan had thrown in there the last few months of them living together. A pile began to gather as she set stuff out of the way. She moved to pick up a bag before she noticed a small box hidden behind it. Her hands dropped into her lap as she froze, her eyes focused on the box. Slowly, she moved to grab the box. Her breath caught in her throat as she held it in her hands. Seconds passed before she opened it.
A gold ring sat inside.
Her hand quickly slammed it shut as she continued staring down at it. Sitting there frozen, unsure how to react. Hannah slowly got up and grabbed the box, leaving her fist white as she held it tight. Her other hand moved to throw her headphones on the bed before she turned to the door. Taking a short breath before she opened it and walked out.
She slowly walked down the hallway, turning once she reached the front door towards the entrance to the living room. Stopping once she could see Logan. Playstation controller in his hands as he sat with his legs on the coffee table playing a game on the TV.
A few seconds passed before he noticed her, his eyes drifting to her as he hit the PlayStation button to pause it.
“Hey, babe,” he said as she walked closer. Hannah stopped between the coffee table and the couch.
“Just wondering why I found this in the closet,” Hannah said, holding out the box towards Logan. She watched his puzzled expression before his eyes went wide.
“You weren’t supposed to find it.”
“No shit!” She yelled back at him before tossing it at him.
The box hit him in the chest. He fumbled to grab the box as it rolled onto his legs. Moving his legs down onto the ground, he set the box in his lap.
“Hannah, I love you a lot, and getting you a ring has been on my mind for months. Since I started staying with you, I realized how much I really love you, and I wanna be with you for the rest of my life.” He smiled, but slowly it dropped when he noticed her expression never changed. Hannah continued looking away from him with a frown.
“I’m not ready to get married,” she said after a few moments.
“What?”
“This is too much, I can’t-“ Hannah held back a sob as she sat on the edge of the couch. Far from Logan.
“I’ve loved everything you’ve done for me this last year… but did you forget how you never ONCE asked me if I was okay with you staying with me? You have stayed here for months, and you have barely helped me.”
“Why didn't you talk to me about this?”
“Would it have changed anything? We fight, argue, and you always compare your trauma to mine!” Hannah laughed before letting out a loud sob, “like I’m sorry people treated you like shit, and you almost drowned, but my parents are dead, and I feel so fucking lost all the time, and you make me feel like I can never tell you-“
Hannah's eyes fell to her lap as she wiped the tears falling down her face before she sniffed and looked back up at Logan. She watched as he awkwardly stared at her, and he didn’t say anything.
“Are you breaking up with me?” he finally said.
Hannah sniffled again before she quietly spoke, “I guess I am.”
Logan sat staring at her through the silence. Hannah’s hands rested on her face as the tears fell down from her eyes. Hannah sniffled a bit as she looked down and rubbed her eyes.
“I’m sorry,” Hannah said.
A sob fell from her lips.
“I'm sorry,” she repeated again.
The couch sank down to the weight as Logan moved to sit down next to her.
“At least you told me,” he said quietly, staring at her.
Hannah’s eyes never moved away from the ground. Moments passed as Logan waited for her to say something, anything. Hannah never moved as the tears silently fell, her head in her hands.
Logan moved off the couch, walking past her towards the door. The closet door slid open, then a few seconds later, the door out of the apartment opened and shut. Silence filled the room once again. Hannah looked up towards the door, Logan nowhere in sight.
Hannah lightly sniffled before she laid back, staring out towards the ceiling.
???
The late February air blew through the darkness. The side parking lot of the restaurant was empty besides Hannah’s car. Hannah stood outside the driver's door of the car, the driver's window down as she stood with a cigarette in her hand. One of her arms was holding her jacket around her, covering how exposed she felt from the dress under it. Blowing out smoke in the opposite direction, she glanced out in the parking lot.
“Babe,” Logan said from inside the car.
Hannah looked back towards him, humming a response as she took the cigarette out of her mouth. The smoke blew into the car as Logan coughed.
“Sorry,” she muttered as she switched which hand was holding it.
“I don’t like it when you smoke.”
Hannah rolled her eyes as she put it back to her mouth. “It’s not really a big problem.”
Logan watched as she sucked on it for another minute before throwing it down and squishing it. She quickly got in and shut the window after.
“I love you, you've been weird since valentines day are you okay?” he asked.
“I’m fine, just been a little stressed from work,” She quietly mumbled as she looked over at him.
“It’s not hard, you own the damn bar.”
Hannah’s jaw dropped as she just blinked at him… “How would you know how hard it is, you don’t do shit.”
“I was the one to help you pay for it??”
“Yes… paying for it makes you know what I do when you sit and play on the PlayStation all day,” Hannah said, her voice filled with annoyance. Turning away from him to buckle and plug her phone in.
“I don't sit on it all day.”
Hannah rolled her eyes but kept looking out towards the road as she pulled out of the spot.
“Hannah”
Silence followed.
“Are you gonna answer me?”
It was silent for a few seconds before Logan heard Hannah take a deep breath, “I’m not gonna continue arguing with you.”
“Sorry,” he said softly. Hannah didn't respond as she kept driving.
March 27th, 5 days later
Keys jingled at the door as Benji fumbled to open it. Finally managing to unlock it, he shoved the keys back in his pocket before he walked in. He slid his shoes off at the front door as his eyes glanced around. Quickly noting how much emptier it was around the place.
“Hannah??” Benji yelled out as he walked into the living room.
His eyes focused on her as she laid on the couch. Her hair was thrown up, looking dirty, a blanket lazily thrown over herself, a wine glass on the table, and her pack of cigarettes sat next to it. She quickly turned her head towards Benji.
“Shit,” she mumbled as she sat up quickly. Her hand moved to grab her phone from under the blanket, noticing the multiple missed calls throughout the day.
“Sorry, Benji.”
Benji slowly moved closer, sitting down in the spot next to her. Within a few seconds, her arms were wrapped around him as she pulled him into a hug.
“Are you okay?” he mumbled into her hair. The air was heavy as they sat there.
Hannah sniffled, “No”
“He bought me a ring- fuck.. I made a big mistake. I told him we were over,” Hannah admitted, choking back a sob.
“Hannah, ” Benji said, interrupting her.
Hannah pulled away, looking at him. Her eyes were red again, tears building up in her eyes as she sniffled. Her breath was uneven as she tried to calm down. Benji matched her breathing as they sat in silence. Hannah moved to open her mouth before Benji interrupted.
“Do you remember Christmas?”
December 28th 2025
Benji and Tristan sat on their bed when a knock was heard on their door.
“Come in,” Tristan yelled out, setting down their sketchbook. Benji was still looking down at the video he was watching when Hannah opened the door.
Tristan hit Benji lightly on the side to get him to look up as Hannah smiled at them.
“Hey,” she softly spoke, moving to join them on the bed. Sitting criss-crossed in front of them.
“Are you okay?” Tristan asked, leaning forward to put their hand on top of hers.
“Yeah.. just needed some space right now.”
“What happened?” Benji quickly asked.
Hannah lightly laughed at Benji before looking away.
“I just couldn’t sleep and didn’t wanna sit around with Logan, nothing happened.”
A cough came from Tristan shortly after, “I wouldn’t say that if you smell like you just went out for a smoke.”
“Are you gonna start complaining too?” Hannah blurted out, her tone very harsh.
Tristan held their hands up, “What?”
“That’s all Logan fucking does is just complain and tell me I shouldn’t have fucking started,” she complained. She slowly started to move off the bed when Benji grabbed for her hand.
“Hannah, stop.”
She turned her head quickly to look at him.
“We are just worried, you’ve been really defensive. Something feels off between you two on this trip..”
“I- I know,” Hannah whispered, her eyes darting away from both of them. She slowly sat back to how she was before and took a deep breath.
“We’re fine. It’s just… It’s not like it was when we first started dating. I wouldn’t say I’m miserable- I’m just not happy.” She swallowed hard. “Never mind. I can’t do this right now.”
Tristan gave her a soft smile. “Benji and I are always here if you need to talk shit about him,” they teased, pulling Benji into a side hug. Benji’s face turned bright red as he glanced at Hannah.
“Thank you, you two,” She gave them a small smile before getting off the bed, “I should probably get back, see you tomorrow.”
Hannah shut the door behind her after she walked out. Benji and Tristan kept their eyes on the door when they heard sniffling. Pretty quickly, the sound of sobs got quieter as footsteps walked farther down the hall.
“God, I was so miserable,” she whispered. Her eyes wandered towards the table. Not like now was much different, she wanted to just let go and throw everything off the table and scream and watch it all smash on the ground.
“You're doing better now, right?” he asked.
Hannah hesitated before she gave a small nod. “I guess… yeah. I am doing better.”
He let out a relieved breath. “Well, that’s good. I mean- his loss, haha. Sucks for him. His fault for treating you that way, right?”
A soft laugh escaped her before she could stop it. “Benji, you dork.” She shook her head, smiling at him now. “Good thing I love you, because you are absolutely terrible at comforting people.”
“Sorry to tell you that was top-tier Benji support.”
“Mm-hmm. Sure it was.” Hannah grinned, a tiny giggle escaping her lips.
“Love you too, by the way,” he added more quietly. Then he cleared his throat, suddenly fidgeting. “So… um… would you maybe want to come to the Bistro Lounge with me tomorrow?”
She blinked, “Excuse me?”
“I mean- not like that! uh.. so Jade and I planned this thing.. A few of the others from the show are coming for an early dinner. It’s nothing huge. I just thought you should come too.” Benji quickly said
“I don’t know, I have to think about it, Benji…” Hannah hesitated; she nervously began rubbing at her arm as she watched him.
“Please,” he begged, giving her puppy dog eyes.
Hannah rolled her eyes but pulled him into a hug again with a sigh. “You are so annoying.”
They sat hugging for a few seconds as Hannah thought.
“I’ll think about it.”
