Work Text:
“Sampo Koski, you are under arrest for selling illegal goods, trespassing, identity theft, and several minor crimes.”
“You're a fool if you think I’m bailing you out this time.”
That's right. He is a fool. He has always been one, and he will always be one.
Sampo got away with so much and for so long, it's no surprise his misdeeds caught up to him.
Many told him he'd get in trouble eventually, and to that he just laughed. He’d laugh, and laugh, and laugh, until he couldn't. He shouldn't be laughing, but the Elation had control over his actions, and THEY found the fool’s sins so funny. Every time THEY laughed, Sampo did too. He grew to hate the sound of the Laughter.
Sampo swore he could hear THEM laughing at him when he was caught by the silvermane guards. He regretted his decisions more than he has ever before, and not because he's been breaking the law, but because it's made him realize that what he's done hasn't been just for good. It's been for his selfish beliefs. He regretted taking back his mask. He regretted ever meeting Sparkle. He regretted going to Penacony. He regretted mailing a fake explosive to Xianzhou. And most importantly, he regretted THEM.
