Work Text:
“I like you better broken.” says Rin to an old toy she finds in the bottom of one of the cardboard boxes she and her friends loaded into the back of a rented minivan. The toy is a marionette toy soldier. Its ancient strings disintegrated during the move. She shakes it, laughing at how its limbs hyper articulate and whirl around. Moving her stuff out of her family home was a matter of mixed emotions. Regret, sadness, excitement, happiness. It feels good to go through all the accumulated crap of her old life, and get rid of most of it.
