Work Text:
Being absolutely soaked by the unforgiving rain with her partner was not how Una was expecting her evening to go, but nonetheless it is exactly how it had gone. The rain poured extremely heavily this Thursday afternoon in Gardenview. The bright blue sky with its cotton like clouds that Gardenview usually housed were replaced by grey murky clouds drenching the streets in the water from above.
Una looked outside her window, the droplets of rain water clinging to the glass window. It truly was a mistake to go out to a cafe today, she thought. While pondering on how she was supposed to get home without getting utterly soaked by the cruel weather the sky decided to give them today she came up with an idea. Her apartment wasn't at all far from here, Sprout, her partner, could easily run with the umbrella that they kept inside the coat closet and pick her up. Plus it would be so nice to walk home with someone as dear to her like sprout rather than alone. Who wouldn't want to see their dear boyfriend?
Picking up her leather purse from the marble flooring, opened it and took out her phone. Then, Una unlocked it and went into her phone application and rang up her top contact. The name Mon chéri accompanied with a heart greeted her as she went down to call him.
A few seconds passed as the annoying ringing in her ear stopped, what followed was a voice she was all too familiar with. “Hun, is there anything wrong? You left the house like 30 minutes ago.” He spoke with utter concern as it was true, it had not even been an hour since she left their shared space.
“No, no berry boy, I am completely ok dont worry your small head about it. I just might need you to come like asap. I did not at all expect for it to suddenly rain so heavily like this. So yeah could you come over and-” The phone call completely shut off unexpectedly. Now that was strange, Sprout would never just hang up randomly like that. She attempted to call him several other times but it just rang and rang.
It was after about 5 attempts to call him after the call had shut off that she gave up. She had spent about 10 minutes just calling over and over like a crazy person. Letting out a sigh Una tried to think of possible ways to leave without getting sick. She didn't have an umbrella or a coat and only came with her leather purse, her wallet, and her phone. None of these options would help her avoid getting soaked.
While pondering, Una heard a loud banging of the cafe’s door. As she turned to confront the loud bang, she laid her eyes onto a soaking Sprout. He looked so exhausted, letting out ragged as if he had just run a marathon. And it wasn't just that, his clothes were drenched with water, literally dripping the rain onto the cafe floor.
Una just stood there in absolute shock, this was the last thing she was expecting of him truly. Whilst just standing there, Sprout had begun to stand up. He immediately took off the coat and presented it to Una, who was just speechless to everything that had occurred in the past minute.
“I'm so sorry I wasn't here sooner Una” he said in a breathless voice, “I swear I just could not find the umbrella, so I grabbed this coat for you.” Further motioning by swaying the coat in his hands toward her.
Una let out a ragged sigh, shame on his adorable concern for her, but now he didn't have anything to protect him from the horrid rain outside. She loved his generosity so much, its her favorite trait of his is you asked her, but she didn't want him to get sick because she took the only thing protecting him. Quickly she came up with a solution, though the coat was small, it could cover them from the rain at least a little bit. So grabbing Sprout's hand she led him outside.
As per her command, He held the coat above his side and she held the coat above her side.
Though he had to crouch as he was taller than the sea urchin. Holding each other with their free hands they began their descent towards their home.

They arrived home, and they were absolutely soaked, for by chance a car passing them by ran over a puddle that just so happened to land on them. Though Una was luckier, Sprout stood on the side of the road. So he took most of the murky water. As they entered the cozy apartment, they both let out a huge sigh. It seems not even an umbrella could have stopped them from getting soaked, why is fate so cruel? Una just knows she'll have to call in sick to work, her and Sprout were so going to be sick tomorrow. But at least she had him to take her mind off the boredom of staying home.
Sprout and Una were exhausted, the day had been just a lot for both of them, even so the company of each other made it ten times better. So as quickly as possible, they both removed the soak clothes that would be tomorrow's problem and changed into comfortable pjs. They both settled into the comfy bed with loads of exhaustion and cuddled into each other. The company of her loved one combined with the warmness of the bed made Una feel right at home. As her eyes began to darken, she started to reminisce of the day. Even if the day was horrible, her time spent with the one who loved her to the moon in back made it a perfectly disastrous day in her book. The little inside jokes that they shared and the tiny acts of romance as well made her smile as she drifted into the land of slumber. Sickness isn't as bad when you've got someone like Sprout to share it with you.
The end
