Glass Windows

Summary:

Humans are small and fragile. And while Airazor isn't particularly large in the grand scheme of things, she is more durable.

Work Text:

“Elena, look out!”

Airazor’s shout was the only warning she had before the windows blasted inward, sending shards of glass flying toward her at a speed that could best be described as ‘deadly’. She turned and ducked, covering her head and neck with her hands, though she knew that wouldn’t do a lot to save her. A moment later, there was a sharp pain as some of the glass embedded itself into the backs of her hands.

But not nearly enough. She should look like some kind of moving art installation right now.

Slowly, Elena looked up to see Airazor peering back down at her. “Are you all right?”

“Yeah, mostly,” she nodded.

“Good.” Airazor flinched as a second explosion rocked the building and she ducked down to cover Elena more protectively. “We must evacuate this building. Can you run?”

“Yeah.” If her time in South America had taught her anything, it was how to run. “I can. Do we need to get any civilians out?”

Airazor gave her a small smile. “Your care does you credit, but they are already safe. Only Noah and his team remain.”

“Okay. Then let’s get out of here, so I can start digging the glass out of your feathers.”

“I think it more likely that Rhinox will be digging glass out of both of us.”
