Work Text:
It was a warm night in late spring when it happened. They’d gone for a cruise around the lake and then headed to the drive-in to catch a horror movie Chip had recommended. They were sitting together on the grass, with Carly sitting curled into his side and Bumblebee spending more time watching the human next to him than the ones on the screen.
And then Carly looked up and smiled and stretched up and…
And the world stoped for a klik when her lips met his. It was soft and sweet and barely even a kiss by some standards, but it had happened and it might have been the most wonderful thing ever.
But stil, when they broke apart, he had to ask. “Uh, are we in that kind of relationship?”
“Are we not?” Carly asked in reply. “Because we’ve been dating by my standards for like a year.”
“That’s not what I meant.” One of their neighbors hissed at them and Bee lowered his voice. “I just… you’re human and I’m Cybertronian.”
“I had noticed.”
“So it’s not… I’m not…” Bumblebee cycled his vents as he tried to figure out what he meant to say. “It doesn’t bother you?”
“Not if it doesn’t bother you. I want to see where we end up, even if it doesn’t turn out to be forever.” Carly smiled and leaned in again. “Unless you have other plans.”
“No, no other plans.” Bumblebee shook his head.
“Good.” Carly pressed her lips to his again and this time Bumblebee turned and deepened it and–
“Get a goddamn room!” One of the other patrons shouted.
Carly laughed and pulled back. “You know, that’s not a bad idea.”
“Uh, sure!” Bee only hesitated a moment before transforming. Carly picked up their few belonging and climbed inside. And pressed a kiss to his steering wheel before buckling her seatbelt. “Back to the Ark or…?”
“Well, you won’t through apartment door, so.”
“The Ark it is.” Bee was glad he was in alt mode so she coudln’t see him blush. Then he sent Jazz a quick message to let him know he should stay with someone else for the night.
He’d bug Optimus for a separate room later, if things went well tonight.
Jazz replied, with a string of glyphs that implied laughter, Way to go, Bee! Give me the deets in the morning!
