Work Text:
Kris had never really thought themselves a sap, but well, trying to find Susie a Valentine's was surprising difficult. They had bought her some really nice chalk. It was the expensive kind that their mom said she liked, so they had bought a pack for Susie.
They were... well, worried wasn't quite the right word, no, they felt like they were going to explode. Spontaneous combustion truly was a feeling if you tried hard enough, and boy were they trying hard.
Carefully, they placed the chalk in one of those cheesy looking Valentine's bags and covered it in dinosaur tissue paper. They were pretty sure she would like it, hopefully, anyway. They placed the card they'd written the night before without looking at it since into the bag at the very top.
This was probably going to be the hardest thing they had ever done. God, they were so, totally cringey. They were probably worse than Berdly, wait nevermind, Berdly was single. What a loser.
They took a deep breath and headed out the door. Carefully avoiding their mom knowing they had stolen something yet again: Susie's heart.
They walked toward the park, as they had planned with Susie the day prior. They looked around for a second before spotting Susie. Talking to Noelle as Noelle fawned over her. Pun completely and totally intended. They weren't quite sure what to do. They knew Noelle had a crush on Susie, and that literally no one else knew about Susie and their's relationship, but still. It kinda hurt to see.
They looked at Susie, who was rubbing the back of her neck awkwardly and smiling politely. The moment she made eye contact with Kris, she booked it toward them, quickly grabbing their arm and continuing forward quickly.
After having run across town, they landed at the bench next to the graveyard.
"She fuckin' asked me out. I, uh, didn't really know what to do? I hope she didn't follow us." Susie looked toward the heart of the town wearily.
Kris relaxed their deathgrip on the bag before speaking quietly, "I got you something. I, uh, hope you don't mind?" They pushed the gift bag into her arms.
She flushed red and grabbed the card, opting to read out loud, "People think we're aliens; we are," She flipped it open, "But it's just because our love is out of this world. Thank you for dating me despite you know what. I love you. From Kris Dreemurr," Susie punched Kris in the arm while laughing, "You friggin' sap," Kris stared at her expectantly, "Oh, the bag, right." She rifled through it before pulling out the chalk and grinning more aggressively.
She reached into her pockets and pulled out a little velvet box. She carefully placed it in their hands, "Uh, this is for you." They smiled and opened it.
Sitting inside was a beautiful earring with a chain to connect the charms. They showed a really derpy looking dinosaur and a little pair of devil horns. They looked at her, "I love it, thank you."
The genuineness seemed to take her off guard as she soon spluttered out, "Well-well, it's really n-no big deal, it-it's absolutely nothing," She soon regained control and muttered, "I, uh, whew, I've never done this before, um, I love you too."
Kris smiled and gently pulled her in for a kiss.
It was a good Valentine's day.
