"Happy birthday" Jayce said cheerily, handing his lab partner a folded-up piece of clothing. Viktor looked down at the item in his hands and then back up at Jayce in confusion.
"What is this?"
"It's your birthday gift" Jayce answered with a small chuckle, sitting in the chair across from the other man. "You're my best friend. Obviously I got you a gift" he added when Viktor still didn't seem to understand. "Here..." Jayce turned around to give the other man privacy. "Try it on. I wanna make sure it fits"
Viktor awkwardly removed the vest he was wearing to put on the new one. It was similar to the vest he was already wearing but was in much better condition and the fabric was far softer.
It fit perfectly.
"You can turn around now" Viktor informed, discarding his old vest onto his work station. Jayce smiled, glad that his gift fit well.
"Do you like it?"
"Yes" Viktor nodded. "Thank you"
"You don't need to thank me" Jayce laughed, and then the two went back to work, feeling a bit lighter than before.
