The ship was massive, rivalling the mountain she called home. Trinkett had never seen anything like it, which might be strange considering she'd spent the last few months on an alien planet with strange ships flying overhead on a regular basis. But when the ship landed in a hurry, it was Leif who recognized it first, calling out something about "Sisters" as he ran towards it.

It wasn't a graceful landing. The ship's hull was marked with scorched patches and streaks of ash, and when the doors opened, the first person through them was in rough shape. She wasn't human, but Trinkett didn't know enough about the species in the Triad to take a guess at where she came from. Green blood poured from a wound in her side despite her taloned hand clasped over it, and when she staggered down the ramp to the grassy meadow, Trinkett was the first one there.

"Take it easy," she said. "You're losing a lot of blood."

"Kazi," Leif called with an unusual panic in his voice, "what happened? Where's David?"

"He's inside," the alien --- Kazi --- said. "He's okay. I got the worst of it, it seems."

"And the nanites?"

"Something disabled them," she bit out. Trinkett pressed her hand over the wound but the blood didn't stop. When Kazi collapsed, neither Trinkett nor Leif could keep her upright.

Trinkett and Leif took Kazi to Trinkett's shop, the place might be small but it was the closest and at least had an first aid kit (not that it'd heal an alien like Kazi, but it could at least take care of her bleeding).

David came right after them, with a cut on his head, limping.

"What happened?" Leif asked, the panic still in his voice.

"Krok" David said, his voice barely coming out.

Trinkett had stopped listening to them and was focused only on Kazi, who was still unconscious. Trinkett didn't know what do so, so she decided to reach within herself, look on the deepest corners of her mind to gather all the knowledge she seemed to posses these days.

The answer came to her in a flash before her eyes.

"Leif," Trinkett called out. "I know this is gonna sound weird, but I need you to help me get her to Cameron's."

"Who?" The engineer looked at Trinkett in confusion. Right. Leif wouldn't know who Cameron was.

"Just have Eldin call Frank and have him meet us with his truck."

A short time later, Trinkett was helping Frank and Leif lower Kazi from the bed of the truck outside of Cameron's house. Eldin, as usual, was being the voice of skepticism. "Trinket, do you really think this is a good idea?" the device asked from Frank's cell phone.

"No. No, I do not, but it is the only idea." Trinkett took over from Leif holding Kazi's body between her and Frank. "We got it from here, Leif."

Leif scratched the back of his head. "You sure? I could come with..."

Eldin piped up again. "No. If they are going to do this, then Frank and Trinkett are the only ones that can do it safely. Trust me, Leif."

As they approached the door to Cameron's house, Frank looked nervously at the fungus growing over the entrance. "So, how do you suggest we get through that? Do you have some magic rock of fungal displacement?" Frank lowered his voice in the annoying way that Trinkett wouldn't let herself admit was charming. "Is it a plus one?"

Trinkett ignored him, and instead felt her connection to the mycelium network. She had always a connection to the universe, and she absolutely still believed in it, but this one was more tangible. The fungus blocking the doorway parted, and they carried Kazi inside.

As they placed her on the ground, Frank breathed out in exhaustion. Despite the fact that he neither had to breathe nor got exhausted. "What now?"

It didn't take long before Kazi opened her eyes and the bleeding seemed to slow to a trickle. The alien smiled at Trinkett. "Using the spores to attack my system and kickstart my nanites. Clever. I'm Kazi, by the way."

Trinkett smiled at her and said, "Hi, Kazi. I'm Trinkett."
