Work Text:
Tango is leaving to go to a different college for a year to work on his degree and it’s leaving a twisting feeling of dread in Martyn’s stomach.
The blond had been feeling this since Tango had announced to him and their other 3 room mates over dinner, that he had to go to a different college for two semesters.
Martyn had gone to the bathroom after they were all done eating, thinking he would be sick.
He had been crushing on his friend for years now, wanting to confess his love almost as long, but he keeps pushing it off, not wanting to ruin their friendship, especially since they have been living in such close quarters for the past year and a half.
Martyn, Tango, Jimmy, and Scott, found high school buddies, turned college house mates.
It has been a dream so far.
Martyn has been successful in keeping his feelings hidden.
Sure he knows Tango’s bi, Scott’s gay, and Jimmy’s pan, so of course they would accept him for also being bi, but he just feels scared to come out to them.
But coming out to them, and telling Tango he loves him are two very different things in Martyn’s mind.
While he feels he might eventually tell his friends about what he’s found out about his sexuality, he does not think he can take that step and confess his love for Tango.
Or that’s what he thought as he helped Tango and the others pack up some of Tango’s things, helped him pack his car, laughed with him as they had their last meal as a group of four friends in a while.
But here Martyn stands, stomach aching as Tango gives them each one last hug goodbye before grabbing his car keys to leave.
The other blond opens the door and is about to step out when-
“-Wait!”
Martyn hears the words spill from his lips before he can realize he’s speaking them, realizing his body is moving.
The blond moves forward as Tango turns around.
Martyn does not think as he grabs the collar of Tango’s shirt, crashing their lips together as a single tear falls down his cheek.
Martyn closes his eyes, not wanting to see the look on Tango’s face.
The man kisses him desperately, like letting go is saying goodbye, goodbye to the feelings deep in his chest, the love, the fondness, the adoration, letting go of Tango.
He distantly hears the sound of keys hitting the floor, moments before two arms are wrapping around his neck, hands sliding into his hair as he’s pulled closer.
Martyn’s whole body curves into Tango's, chasing the feeling in his heart for the man, trying to convey weeks, months, years worth of feelings.
After an eternity, Martyn pulls away, air flooding into his lungs, cheeks burning red and hot.
He blinks his eyes open, scared.
Red eyes look back at him, shocked, flustered, fond.
“Martyn?”
Martyn lets go of Tango’s shirt, taking a step back, eyes looking anywhere by Tango’s, “I-I’m sorry, I-”
“Martyn.”
Martyn looks up, looks up into familiar red eyes.
A hand on his cheek pulls him closer, slowly bringing their lips together in a kiss, a kiss that says, “I understand. I love you.”
