Work Text:
Ruskin, the secretary of the media mogul Charles Augustus Milverton, was a really jealous person. This was just natural if the one he was in love with was his employer, the most beautiful, most powerful, most perfect man in the world. Ruskin didn't doubt that this was the case - he only watched Mr. Milverton through his own eyes and didn't consider the fact that he could be a very despisable person for anyone who knew about his true nature. Mr. Milverton was the incarnation of pure evil and he ruined innocent people for fun - it was his greatest pleasure if he could drag someone to sin. The slimy snake nature would have not been an attractive trait for anyone else aside from Ruskin who loved everything what Mr. Milverton stood for - but he refused to recognize this and the jealousy kept awakening inside his heart whenever he saw that his employer was being nice with someone else other than him.
"Good morning, Miss Rose." Mr. Milverton always greeted the receptionist of the company building with a faint smile and Ruskin was extremely jealous of her every day. It didn't matter if Mr. Milverton's attention at the woman only lasted for a few seconds, it didn't matter if the smile that Ruskin got were much wider, brighter and affectionate compared to the one that accompanied the greeting, for him, those seconds felt like eternity. Mr. Milverton should not even look at her, she was not worthy of that smile. Ruskin envied every smile Mr. Milverton flashed at someone else and the only reason he didn't get Miss Rose out of the way was because he knew that it was meaningless. Mr. Milverton would greet the following receptionist kindly as well - and Miss Rose's interest also didn't lie at men. It was safer to have her than anyone else even if it was hard for Ruskin to not kill her at that moment.
Ruskin also kept getting jealous at Mr. Milverton's business partners even if he knew perfectly that their kindness was all about trying to use or manipulate his employer which always failed in the end. He grinded his teeth whenever he needed to make a tea for one of these people and he wished for nothing more than to poison it. They deserved it for their real thoughts about Mr. Milverton - and even more for getting crumbs of his time. Ruskin just wanted to be left alone with his employer in the office, so he acted as coldly with his business partners as it was still within manners. Mr. Milverton saw that - and he never scolded Ruskin which made Ruskin feel entitled to it. But even this couldn't fully ease his envy, which activated again when at the end of the work day, he and Mr. Milverton left the company.
"Welcome back, boss." Harry, one of the bodyguards said with a wide grin and Ruskin could strangle him on the spot when Mr. Milverton put his hand onto his shoulder and told something to him. It was an innocent order and nothing that Ruskin needed to worry about, but the fact that his beloved Mr. Milverton's palm touched someone who was not him made his jealousy grow. Ruskin was basically boiling in it. Harry was one of the few people who was aware of his feelings regarding Mr. Milverton and he often teased Ruskin for it, while he made him sure that he would never be interested in someone so insane like the boss, but this didn't change anything about the burning jealousy that Ruskin felt. It was infuriating to see Mr. Milverton's long, sensual fingers on someone else - even if his employer occasionally grabbed his hand in the carriage, just like that day, but it didn't make the blushing Ruskin forget about what just happened. Harry will pay one day when he is not in Mr. Milverton's service anymore, Ruskin swore and tried to calm himself down to enjoy Mr. Milverton's closeness. But by that time, they got home - and there, new reasons waited for Ruskin to get jealous.
"The dinner is ready, Mr. Ruskin." Miss Cindy, the linen room supervisor announced to Ruskin when they stepped into the house. Ruskin nodded - it was his job to supervise the household staff and he tried to keep it that way, making it impossible for Mr. Milverton to get in contact with the servants which could just make Ruskin envious. However, Mr. Milverton happened to hear the remark and he turned to Miss Cindy with a bright expression.
"Thank you, Miss Cindy." He noted and he passed the woman by. Even if this was the only interaction, Ruskin gave a sharp and cruel glance at the linen room supervisor, scaring her away from the hall.
After the satisfying dinner, Mr. Milverton wished to have a bath. It would have been the servants’ job to heat up the water for him, but the thought was enough for Ruskin to repeatedly suffocate in his jealousy. No one else should dare to deal with the water that will touch his beloved employer's naked body - no one else! Therefore, Ruskin was the one who saw to this job. It made him happy if he could cause a good time for Mr. Milverton and the time he spent in the bath tube was indeed one of the occasions of the days when he rested. So Ruskin heated up the water by himself and escorted Mr. Milverton to the bathroom. He waited nearby if his employer wanted something while he kept clenching his fists. Jealousy, he always felt jealous. It got exhausting by the end of the day.
The last part of Ruskin's duty before he could retreat to his own room to sleep was accompanying Mr. Milverton to the bedroom. His employer smelled sweet, like almond after the oils he used on his delicate skin. His freshly washed hair was a curly mess fallen onto his shoulders. Ruskin watched him and his heart started to beat faster. It was just natural to be jealous of anyone who laid his eyes on this man.
"Good night, Mr. Milverton." He said gently when they were about to part at the door. But before he could leave, Mr. Milverton grabbed his wrist to keep him back.
"I saw that you got angry several times today." He noted and he raised his eyebrows. "You were jealous again, right?"
"Yes, sir." Ruskin didn't hide this fact from Mr. Milverton. He never lied to him, not even when it came to his feelings... what Mr. Milverton knew about a long time ago.
A smile appeared on Mr. Milverton's face. It was different from the one that Ruskin saw during the day, it was filled with something else. The sign of the bond they had with each other.
"You know that you have no reason for it." Mr. Milverton said and he drew him closer, slowly closing the door behind themselves. "You are the only one who understands my evil. And you are the only one who gets a taste from my forbidden fruit." He directed Ruskin's fingers to the collar of the shirt of his pajama. "Undress me now." He ordered seductively and even his hot breath was enough to turn Ruskin completely red. He closed his eyes and inhaled Mr. Milverton's scent. He knew that it was meant for him and only him.
"With pleasure, sir." He whispered and the blood was drumming in his ears from the lust. He couldn't wait to take a bite from the apple coming straight from the Garden of Eden.
He didn't need to be jealous of anyone for once.
