Work Text:
Despite finally having claimed ownership of the peacock miraculous, Felix knew this peace of mind was fleeting. At any moment, it could be ripped away from him, whether it was by his Uncle Gabriel, Ladybug, or his recently acquired girlfriend’s mother.
Speaking of the aforementioned girlfriend, he currently finds himself on her bed, lying parallel to her. The sun is setting behind the city, and he can see every little freckle on her face in this light. Adorable, positively adorable.
“You look tired,” Kagami said softly, brushing golden hair strands out of his eyes—which was more of an affectionate gesture than a genuine attempt to improve his field of vision.
She was probably right about that, about him looking tired. He felt tired, at the very least.
“I suppose I don’t get much sleep,” he admitted, “even with this,” Felix pointed to the peacock-shaped brooch secured to his shirt, “I can’t help but feel paranoid… I guess.”
Having finished his rambling, he looked back up to see Kagami with a slight frown upon her face. Now, he was frowning right along with her.
“You know I cannot bear to see you with such a gloomy expression on your face, My Queen.”
She smiled at him once again, “I’m worried about you, that’s all,” Suddenly, an idea sprang to mind. Kagami flopped backwards onto the mattress, to which Felix shot her a bewildered look.
“Come here,” she took hold of his hand, and drew him closer. He obeyed happily, of course, for he was completely and utterly smitten with her.
Soon, his head was resting on her chest, her arms wrapped around his back tightly enough to ground him, but gently enough to ensure he wasn’t actively suffocating.
And, oh, she was warm, incredibly warm. Incredibly soft, as well. As if he were lazing on the fluffiest cloud in the entire sky, and she smelled divinely of plum blossom.
“You can sleep here,” Kagami whispered, her hands wandering along his spine, “I’ll protect you.”
She said it so certainly, like it was a well-known fact, and for some—incredibly obvious—reason, Felix was inclined to believe it, even with her current lack of miraculous.
He closed his eyes and replied with a small smile, “Thank you.”
And for the first time in what felt like forever, surrounded by Kagami and all her softness, Felix fell soundly asleep.
