Sojiro's temporary comfort has to be sacrificed in order for his long term comfort to be assured, as well as Rin's. Justice must be served. Her plan was not something she entered into lightly, but a man like that needs his heart wrung if he's going to screw his head on straight. Rin tells herself she has no other choice but to hurt him as she dates other men, right in front of him. Besides, he's hurt her terribly, and oh so casually. The reminder of that helps her carry on whenever an expression of agony passes across his face.
