    His brother’s eyes have not left the floor since he was ushered into the chamber, and his neck is flushed a dark red. The alpha’s body is as taut as a bowstring, looking as though he is preparing for a battle instead of a bedding.

    “You need not be nervous,” Baelor says lightly, “It is only me.”

    Maekar scoffs. “It is only you,” he mutters under his breath, before slowly walking to the bed, a tentativeness in his gait that Baelor has not seen since they were boys.
