Work Text:
Chrissy lies back on the blanket, looking up at the trees.
A picnic at skull rock wouldn't have been her first option for a date, but considering the circumstances she doesn't blame Nancy for suggesting it. Nancy was right, after all, if anyone caught them together it could ruin everything.
The last thing Chrissy needed was for Coach to find out and kick her off the team. Or, worse, Jason might hear about it. She's sure if someone saw them, the whole school would know come monday. And then her mom would find out, and she'd just be so disappointed—
"Chris."
Chrissy looked away from the trees and toward her girlfriend. "Yeah?"
"You alright?" Nancy asked, frowning. "You spaced out there for a second."
"Yeah, I'm fine," she sighed, looking up at the sky again. "Are you sure no one will see us here?"
"Promise. Steve and Robin work just down the street, if they see anyone coming they'll let us know."
Chrissy smiled at that. She'd been worried, at first, when Nancy suggested they tell her friends. While she trusted Nancy, and knew that if she was willing to tell them then it was most likely safe, the idea of Steve Harrington having that kind of dirt on her was not something Chrissy looked forward to. Fortunately, though, they didn't seem bothered by it at all. If anything, Steve looked overjoyed when Nancy said they're dating.
"Okay," Chrissy sat back up, grabbing the picnic basket she'd packed. "In that case, lets eat."
