Chapter Text
The cell was silent, well as silent as it can be with the bubbling of lava around them and the faint hum of the redstone around them. Tommy didn't do well with silence, silence reminded him too much of exile, the silent beach, the emptiness around him. Before he would shout and scream and run, desperate to make noise, to fill the emptiness so he could fool himself into thinking there were other people around him and he wasn't completely and utterly alone. He was always alone, even before he was forced out to that empty beach, surrounded by people but completely alone.
But he couldn't do that here, the lack of space and the one other occupant of the cell who had been watching him silently for the past few hours, slowly driving Tommy crazy as he fought to keep his emotions under control, not to shout and scream at Dream to stop fucking looking at him stop it please, but he stays silent. He picks at his cuticles, the small twinges of pain keeping him grounded and from thinking about the obsidian walls around him, keeping him trapped, keeping him within reach of Dream at all times.
“You've been quiet, nice to see at least one of my lessons actually got through to you” Dream hums from behind his mask, his head tilting to one side as his dirty blonde hair shifts to fall over one shoulder, covering up the number on his orange jumpsuit. Tommy flinches and picks harder, ignoring the blood welling up as he keeps his eyes down. Just ignore him, just ignore him, maybe he'll leave him alone this time if he just ignored him. He knows Dream won't, he knows the man will just pick, and poke, and prod until he strikes a nerve and Tommy will lash out, which will give Dream all the justification he needs to blow up at him.
“I honestly thought you would never learn but here you are, four hours after your little tantrum and you haven't said a word, a world record for you I'm sure” Dream coos in that sickly sweet tone, the one he always used when aiming pointed jabs disguised as compliments. Tommy wills himself to ignore the man, biting his tongue to hold back any remarks.
The first few days Tommy had screamed and shouted and cursed, calling out for Sam, desperate to get out, but now Tommy was willing himself to stay quiet and tucked away in the corner. He wasn't safe, he never was, but he especially wasn't safe now. He couldn't afford to piss off Dream, not now, not when Dream could reach his little corner in ten seconds. Even if Sam heard him screaming it would take him minutes to reach Tommy, minutes where Tommy would be at Dream's limited mercy.
“But I'm finding myself growing a little bored here with just myself for company, come on Tommy can't you talk to me? I am your only friend after all, friends talk to each other” Dream hums, scooting a little closer as Tommy stiffens and tries to push himself further back into his corner, his wings digging painfully into his back and shoulders but he ignores it, the pain from his wings was always easy to ignore, background feelings more than anything. The small shriveled wings had hurt since the day they burst free from his back, alone in his pathetic tent as he bit down on his coarse blanket to not scream, unless he wanted to attract any of the mobs that crawled around the dimly lit beach attention.
He licks his lips, not that it helps much, the heat dried them out just as soon as he wet them, never enough to kill but enough to keep him miserable. “I don't have anything to say to you” Tommy mutters, hiding his now shaking hands in his lap as he looks up enough to see Dream had tilted his head again and was staring, but hadn't moved any closer.
“Come on, indulge me a little, I just want to know what everyone's out there doing, especially after you all locked me up here and left me to rot” he says, voice getting angrier at the end as Tommy grimaces.
He runs through his head trying to find something that wouldn't piss the admin off anymore than he already was. “Uh, Ranboo is hanging out with Techno a lot” he mumbles picking at a loose thread in his ratty cargo shorts. The two had really hit it off, Techno replacing Tommy with the lanky boy with ease. Tommy tried his hardest not to cry when he found out. He wasn't successful.
Dream hums and Tommy looks up again, seeing him relaxing against the wall and making a “go on” motion with his hand, Tommy hesitates before continuing.
“Uh me and Jack built a hotel, well, Sam Nook built the hotel I gathered all the materials, and I I think Jack is mad at me about something” Tommy knew Jack and Niki were trying to kill him, knew about the hate filled glares they shot at him when they thought he couldn't see. Knew that it wasn't an accident that Niki had led him out to that field when the bomb had gone off, knew that if he had been just a little bit farther in he would have died. But if Tommy didn't bring it up, didn't mention it then it wasn't true, Jack and Niki were still his friends and didn't hate him.
“Oh Tommy, still denying all of the horrible things you've done to them, tsk tsk, looks like not all my lessons got through to you” Dream tuts, shaking his head in disappointment. Tommy taste blood from how hard he bites his tongue to keep from screaming at Dream to just shut up shut up shut up, he knows he's horrible he knows that already stop fucking reminding him.
“Phil moved in with Techno” Tommy mutters, ignoring the pain in his chest at the memory, at one point in time Tommy had hoped, had dreamed that the three of them could have been more, could have been a family like him and Wilbur had been. But those dreams died when the two rained TNT down onto L’Manburg, working with the man who had tormented him all throughout exile, the pair who had laughed with glee as Tommy and Tubbo had tried desperately to save their home, the only home the two had ever truly known.
Tommy knew better now, knew that Philza and Technoblade would only ever see him as the little street rat Wilbur had taken pity on, the orphan and traitor who had taken Technoblade’s kindness and generosity and spit it back in his face, who had gotten Wilbur killed because he wasn't strong enough to hold his brother together.
Dream tsked and shook his head “I told you what would happen by working with Techno Tommy, but as usual you don't fucking listen, this is why everyone leaves you, you always push them away” Dream sneers, Tommy gritting his teeth as he feels his patience wearing thinner and thinner.
“I was the only one who cared Tommy, the only one who gave a damn about you. But you threw me away, you abandoned me, that's not a good friend Tommy, but it's ok, once I get out of here it'll go back to the good days where everyone-” “just shut up!”
Tommy wishes he could take those words back the instant they left his mouth, his jaw snapping shut as Dream falls deathly silent, his mask staring straight ahead. Slowly, ever so slowly Dream turned his head so the eyes of his mask were staring dead at Tommy, “excuse me?” Dream asks calmly, head cocked to one side as if he hadn't heard what Tommy had said.
Tommy knew he should apologize, beg for forgiveness but the second he opened his mouth to do just that all the words he had been holding in rushed out “would you just shut the fuck up! You're never getting out of here Dream, fucking never, you'll live the rest of your shitty life in this cell, everyone will forget about you, George and Sapnap already fucking have, and once I'm out of here I'll never have to see you again and you can just fucking die in here” Tommy screams, heaving for air by the time he's done, his chest feeling lighter only to feel like a bucket of ice water gets dumped down his back as Dream starts to giggle.
Dream slowly stands up, his giggles growing into his typical deranged laugh, doubling over as if Tommy had just told the funniest joke he ever heard.
“Forgot about me? Forgot about me!” Dream cackles as he takes one menacing step towards Tommy, the teen scrambling out of the corner as Dream moves in closer.
“Let's see which one of us they forget about first Tommy!” Dream laughs and lunges at him, Tommy dodging with a shriek as Dream smashes his fist into the wall right where Tommy's head was.
**************** violence ahead***********
“SAM SAM HELP!” Tommy screams desperately racing towards the lava as Dream chases him, tackling the lanky teen to the ground, the air getting forced out of Tommy's lung as he gags, trying to scramble up as he feels Dream grab a fistful of his hair and slam his head forward into the obsidian ground.
Tommy howls feeling his nose shatter, blood instantly spurting out as he throws one fist back, hitting Dream in the head hard enough it knocks him off of him long enough to scramble to his hands and knees, frantically crawling away “SAM HELP ME PLEASE!” he shrieked, his words muffled as he desperately ran towards the lava, gasping as Dream catches up and swiftly kicks him hard in the stomach, Tommy unable to help himself as he gags and vomits up the little bit of water he had forced down.
Dream wasn't done though as he pulls his foot back, and kicks Tommy again and again, in the chest, the stomach, his arms as he desperately tries to protect his stomach and chest. Tommy screams as the last kick shatters the bones in his arm, the boy curling up around it to try and keep it safe.
“Techno, Philza, Wilbur anyone help” he wails, tears falling down his cheeks as he tries to drag himself towards the lava, sobbing as he feels the pain in his ribs, no doubt more than one broken, he didn't know if he was lucky or not that they hadn't punctured his lungs.
“No one's coming Tommy” Dream says cheerfully as he pulls the boy back, turning him onto his back and kneeling over him. He had taken his mask off, his eyes wide with malicious glee as he pulls his fist back and smashed it into Tommy's face, laughing as Tommy’s head snaps to the side, but Dream doesn't stop, his fist connecting with his face again and again, Tommy swinging to try and get his off, to do something, but it was useless.
Tommy hurt, it hurt please make it stop, he could barely breath, blood filling up the back of his throat as he desperately tried to spit it out, wheezing as he gurgled and sobs. “Dr’am, please, ‘m sorry” he gasps. Tommy didn't know if he still believed in Prime anymore, but he sent out one last prayer, hoping for a miracle.
“Shhh Tommy, it'll just be a little nap, I'll see you soon” Dream coos above him, the last thing Tommy sees is Dream’s fist swinging down towards his face.
And then Tommyinnit knew no more.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Three months, three long torturous months Tommy had spent trapped in limbo, day in and day out lost in this oppressive black void, the only thing he could listen to was the deranged ramblings of his pseudo brother. He had been overjoyed at hearing Wilbur, sure he couldn't fucking see him but just knowing that Wilbur was there was good enough for him. Until Wilbur had gotten over his surprise at finding Tommy there. If Tommy thought a few months trapped inside of Pogtopia with a Wilbur in the beginning stages of madness was bad, then being trapped inside of Limbo with a Wilbur who had been there for over 13 years with only himself for company was hell.
That day started off like any other, Tommy couldn't sleep in Limbo, he could only count the seconds, and his “morning” would usually start by Wilbur whispering in his ear about all the terrible things he planned on doing when out, the things they would do together, before inevitably dragging Tommy into a game of cards he had no hope of winning cause, again, he couldn't fucking see.
Tommy counted the seconds until he would hear Wilbur's voice but frowns as five minutes pass and nothing happens, “uh, Wilbur” he calls out into the void, expecting Wilbur to answer him, but after another five minutes pass and still he doesn't receive an answer Tommy starts to get a little worried.
He gets to his feet, putting both arms out and feeling around as he traverses the darkness ahead of him, slowly ever so slowly he moves, not knowing if he could feel pain but also not wanting to try. He felt and ran into nothing, and he was starting to get worked up when he heard something move behind him, he whirled around, if his heart could beat it would be racing as once again empty darkness greets him.
“Whose there, Wilbur is that you” Tommy calls out, already knowing it wouldn't be but he needed to check anyway.
“Tommy” a voice coos as he freezes, taking a step back as a glowing green thread slowly materializes, waving gently through the air. It was the first thing he's seen in months, actually able to see as he takes a half step forward, following the moving thread as it slowly breaks into four long strings.
“Tommy” the voice sings again, beckoning him closer, he takes another halting step forward as he reaches a hand out. As if honing in on him the five strings shoot forward, wrapping around his waist, wrists, and throat. Pain shot up and down his body as Tommy screams in agony, being dragged forward as he digs his heels in, desperately trying to pull away.
“No no! Let me go let go!” He screams, pulling as hard as he can as a swirling vortex forms in front of him, the green threads dragging him towards it as Dream's vicious mocking laughter comes from it.
“Help me! Prime, Kristen please anyone!” He wails, the threads cutting into his skin as he gets dragged closer and closer, more threads reaching out to grab him, to finish dragging him in as suddenly a brilliant light fills the space, the threads shrieking as they snap, falling off of him as he stumbles back.
He looks at the light, seeing the figure of a veiled woman, not the void black veil of Kristen, but a white veiled woman, blocking the strings from getting to him, he looks in awe at the woman who stood protectively before him.
“TOMMY” the voice screeches angrily more and more sinister green threads shooting out from the portal and trying to grab him.
“The light, my son you must run to the light” the woman calls out, her gentle hands reaching out to lift him up and push him towards a softly glowing light.
“TOMMY YOU CAN'T ESCAPE ME, I WILL FIND YOU”
“The light my son, the light!”
Without much hesitation Tommy turns and runs, ignoring the sound of angry screaming coming behind him, running faster and faster, his arm outstretched desperate to get away, his hand breaking through the light.
Tommyinnit wakes up drowning.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tommy's eyes snap open, choking on liquid as he frantically waves his hands around, finding the edge of something metal as he grabs it and hauls himself up, sucking in a huge gasp of air and coughing up glowing green water, hauling himself out of the metal tub he finds himself in and collapsing to the tiled ground, sucking in deep breaths of air, coughing up more of the water as it's forced from his lungs.
Once his coughing fit subsides Tommy blearily opens his eyes, looking around the dark room around him, only illuminated by the tub of glowing green water. His fucking everything hurt, his chest and stomach was hurting, his arm while no longer broken still hurt like a bitch, his bangs were plastered to his forehead due to either the water or blood he couldn't tell. His wings hung limp down his sides, he didn't even have the strength to fold them up like he normally did.
He sees a metal table and reaches out, grabbing it and pulling himself to his feet, nearly crashing to the floor again as his vision swayed and head pounded, dry heaving as he grips the edges of the table and lays his head against the cool surface, willing his stomach to settle as he breathes slowly through his nose.
Once he no longer felt like he was about to take a nose dive he eases himself up, squinting his eyes as he takes in the room around him. Metal tables and strange devices, Tommy didn't have a clue what any of these things were, so he elected to ignore them. He shuffles towards the only door in the room and pushes it open, looking out into the dark hallway, only lit up from the light through the windows.
Taking a moment Tommy inspects himself, his broken arm and ribs were healed, still tender and painful but healed, the scars, cuts, and bruises he still had, his nose was set, so thankfully he wouldn't have to worry about it healing crookedly, and there was a large bump at the back of his head from having it repeatedly smashed into the ground by Dream’s fist.
A quick check shows his almost empty inventory, the only thing inside of it being his “Your Tubbo” compass, his heart sinking a little as he pulls it out and watches it spin in a circle. He quickly shoves it back into his inventory, not ready to even think about why it was doing that as he slowly shuffles his way out of the deserted building.
As soon as he steps outside his heart drops as he takes in the area around him, tall massive buildings, as far as he could see, bright twinkling and blinking lights that nearly set him to his knees again as he grimaces and snaps his eyes shut, quickly ducking back into the building as he feels his heart rate increase and breathing pick up. “Calm down, calm down you're ok, it's just some tall buildings, just some tall buildings you're fine” Tommy whispers to himself, threading his fingers through his hair and tugging on them as he panics.
After forcing himself to calm down Tommy slowly creeps back out, shivering as a cold breeze blows, his soaked clothing not at all helping fight against the chill. This nearly sent him right back into a panic attack, his last memory of being soaked and cold not helping as he roughly shoved those memories right back into their boxes at the back of his mind, walking into an alleyway that was close by.
It has been a long time (not really) since his raccoon days but that didn't stop him as he begins digging through the strangely large trash cans in the alley, he perks up as he finds a ratty old jacket in one of the cans even if it has a large cut in it it was still at least dry and would keep out the worse of the chill around him, he grins as he folds his wings up against his back and slips the jacket on, he moves on to another can and after digging around again he grins after finding a slightly rusty knife he puts it in his inventory. Now with a slightly warmer coat and a weapon he feels a little better about his situation.
Moving to the mouth of the alley he pokes his head out and gasps, strange metal boxes were moving along the road, crowds of people walking fast and casting him strange and glaring looks, buildings with strange screens showing moving pictures, he quickly pulls himself back into the alley and stumbled away, his eyes wide and hands shaking.
Ok so, he wasn't in the Dream SMP anymore, that was fine, he was fine totally ok, something must have happened when Dream killed him and tried reviving him, that was fine, better then fine even, he was out of the prison and all the needed to do was find this SMP’s admin and they could send him back home.
Even Tommy could admit that was easier said than actually done, for starters he didn't even know where to actually start looking, he didn't know the rules, and he had nothing to his name, he was essentially starting at the bottom. He needed to find somewhere to hunker down, and work out a better plan. And of course, because of his luck it was at that moment he heard loud footsteps and laughter coming up behind him.
He jerks his head around, nearly falling as moving that fast sends his head spinning and stomach throbbing, swallowing back the wave of nausea as he takes in the group of four men in front of him. Dressed in jeans and shirts with jackets over them, one clutching a strange brown bottle, the four walking strangely, laughing and joking with each other, Tommy sizes each of them up, no obvious signs of a weapon on them but with people's inventories you never know, he's seen Technoblade pull out his sword and slice people in half before they had even realized he moved.
That little voice in the back of his that warned him when he was in danger or about to do something stupid piped up and Tommy decided now was a good time to listen to it as he moved to step back, but one of the men finally noticed him and sneers “you got a staring problem kid” he barks as Tommy grimaces, the three others taking notice of him and sizing him up in return.
“Uh no, just just passing through” he mutters taking a step back as the men start advancing on him.
“Speak up, cant hear you over all that mumbling” the one with the bottle snaps, taking a swig out of it as the wind picks up and blows from behind the men and towards Tommy, the boy grimacing and gagging as the scent of them reaches him, each smelling like something strong and foul.
“What the hell you little freak?” One says storming over as he takes another step back, the little voice starting to get louder as his wings twitch beneath his jacket, instincts he had buried trying to tell him to flee.
“Look I don't want any problems” Tommy forces out, his stomach rolling at the stench from the guys in front of him getting closer, it was somehow worse than when Wilbur's hands would smell like blood, gunpowder, and cigarette smoke (Tommy got really familiar with that smell, he had to when wilbur would grab him by the face to scream and rave at him over something he had seemingly done wrong).
“You sure are acting like you do, what your mommy never teach you any manners” one sneers as Tommy feels a strange sort of anger going through him, mixing with the rising fear and leaving him shaky and jitter, his wings flexing harder against the jacket covering them, not that they'd do much, too small to give him any real flight.
“Didnt yours you bitch, or are you to stupid to remember any of them” he snaps back before he realizes what he was saying.
“The fuck you say to me, you motherfucker come here” one shouts and lunges at him, Tommy dodging to the side as the man's fist smashed into the brick wall behind him, the man shouting in pain as Tommy kicks him in the knee and makes a break for it, charging off down the alley as the men shout and give chase. Tommy blindly runs down the alley, turning corners and crashing into objects littered about, his instincts screamed at him to run, to hide, to fly but he couldn't, he couldn't he didn't know where he was going, and the men's shouting was getting louder.
He screams as a hand grabs the back of his new jacket, trying to yank him back as Tommy scrambled to get it off, the zipper jamming as it gives the other men time to catch up, another set of hands slamming him into a wall, his head bouncing painfully off of it as he shrieks again, summoning his knife from his inventory and slashing it at one, the men screaming as it gets him across the face, stumbling back as Tommy hisses and shrieks, mind lost to animal panic as he lunges at another, knife poised to stab as another tackles him mid lunge, his knife going flying as he's forced to the ground, kicking and throwing punches as he thrashes. He had to get up, he can't let them pin him down, he doesn't want to die, not again not again. His vision was starting to blur around the edges as he tears up, heart hammering in his chest, terrified shrieks coming from his throat, a terrified fledgling calling out for a flock that wouldn't hear him.
He only stops when a loud bang goes off, almost like when Techno would fire off a firework from his crossbow but there weren't any showers of colors and sparks as the man on top of him suddenly falls off, crashing against the ground.
Tommy couldn't think, his mind whirling in a mixture of instincts and fear as he looks to wear the shot came from, his couldn't see right, his vision blurry but he could make out red and black, and for a moment his hopes raised up, Techno was here, Techno had come to save him. (That was a lie, why would Techno ever come for him, why would he bother to lift a finger to help).
His hopes quickly shrivel up and die as he blinks his eyes cleared and sees the man standing in front him, black boots and strange black pants, a black armored shirt with a red bat like symbol on the chest a brown leather jacket and black leathered gloves, one hand holding a strange black object pointed in the direction of the men. A red helmet covered his entire head, only eyes being shown. He was massive, muscles covering every bit of him, but for some reason the little voice in the back of his head that had been kicking and screaming up a storm had finally calmed down, leaving Tommy with enough sense of mind to fall silent.
“Unless you want to join your friend there, I suggest you back away from the kid” the new masked man says in a robotic sounding voice coldly, the men quickly turning and running off, leaving their friend behind. The man hums as he puts the strange black metal object into a holster on his thigh before turning his attention back to Tommy, tilting his head as Tommy blinks up at him owlishly.
“You alright kid?” The man asks as Tommy comes back to himself and nods, quickly getting up, he glances down at the man who had originally pinned him down, but seeing the blood pooling around his head Tommy quickly adverts his eyes, his stomach finally not being able to handle anything more as he dry heaves, nothing coming up as the masked man simply watches him.
Once that embarrassing bout of nausea was over Tommy looks back at the man and says the first thing that comes to mind.
“That mask is really ugly”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jason had been having a relatively good day. A new drug ring had tried opening up in Crime Alley, Jason had taken immense glee in busting open (and by busting open he means busting open the heads of everyone in charge) the ring and dealing with its members, he even was so kind as to leave a little present for the big bat when he inevitably came investigating.
He had checked in on his own people, making sure they were sticking to his fairly reasonable rules about how, where, and who they could sell their wares. Each one was following each of his rules to a “T”, so Jason had left them alone and moved on. His patrol led to no new problems he had to deal with. No signs of Black Mask trying to push his way back in, the kids and working girls seemed ok, everything was going great.
So of course he heard the sound of screaming as soon as he allowed himself to relax. Screaming was common in Gotham, but this screaming was different ,this screaming demanded attention a tug in Jason's chest causing him to turn at once and take off, racing across the rooftops to reach the source of the screaming, peaking down over the side his eyes narrow behind his helmet as he sees a teen being chased by four clearly drunk men, he grapples down to the ground just as the kid gets slammed against a wall, a knife appearing out of fucking nowhere in the kids hand as he slashes with the knife, catching the guy nearest to him but getting tackled by one of his buddies as he tackled the kid.
Having seen enough Jason pulls out his gun and without hesitation puts a bullet through the head of the one pining the terrified kid to the ground, a simple warning having the remaining men to book it. He hums and slides his gun back into his holster, turning his attention to the kid who gets up, takes one look at the corpse, and turns and begins dry heaving, Jason raising an eyebrow as this goes on for a bit before the kid finished, panting as he looks up at him, he expected the kid to run, to shout or scream or cower in fear, what he absolutely did not expect was the kid to start insulting his choice of head ware.
“Really, that's the first thing you say to the guy who just saved your ass?” Jason asks amused as the kid blinks and frowns, the dim light of the alley obscuring the majority of his features.
“Well it's right ugly big man, not my fault no one's ever told you it before” the kid mutters, shuffling on his feet and doing his level best to ignore the body on the ground next to him.
“I think it's best you get home now kid” Jason hums as he turns to walk away only to stop as the kid blurts out “I don't know how to”.
He turns back to the kid who flinches and huffs “what do you mean you don't know how to get home?” Jason asks, frowning as the kid kicks the ground and grumbles.
“I mean I don't know where the hell I am, one minute I'm locked up in prison, next minute I'm waking up in a pool with some dirty green water” the kid huffs crossing his arms and shivering as now Jason noticed the kid was completely soaked from head to toe, besides the dirty jacket he was wearing.
“Green water, what do you-” Jason was asking only to get cut off as the kid finally steps further into the light and Jason takes him in fully, the kid looks like he had been beaten viciously, a split lip, black eye, bruises covering his face and down his neck, old burn scars lining his neck and hands, but that wasn't what caught Jason's attention, the kids hair was matted with blood and water, but it was the shock of bone white hair in the front of his bangs that stood out amongst the blonde strands.
“Uh, you ok” the kid asks, taking a hesitant step back as Jason snaps out of it and focuses back in.
“Yes I'm fine, I should be asking you that kid, you look horrible” he says as the kid glares at him and puffs up, his jacket rustling as something moves beneath it at his back.
“Well fuck you dick, I'd like to see you spend a week in prison and then see how you look like coming out” he snaps, a bit of green bleeding into his bright blue eyes.
Jason grimaces beneath his mask, who was this kid and why in the hell was he showing signs of taking a dip in the pits.
“Ok fair enough, look where are you staying I'll walk you there” Jason says as the kid huffs and crosses his arms, trembling a little as he grits his teeth.
“I'm not staying anywhere, I've been here like an hour and it's sucked the whole time,I don't have anywhere to go” he says through gritted teeth, as if it pained him to admit any weakness.
Jason knows the feeling, he tilts his head as he thinks before nodding “I know a place you can stay” he says, the kid perking up before scowling and backing up.
“Uh fuck no, ever heard of “stranger danger” pretty sure there's a whole part about not following strangers to secondary locations” he snaps.
“Well at least you're not completely clueless” Jason chuckles ignoring the kids' offended shout. “im the Red Hood kid, and this is Crime Alley, I run the place and take care of it, as long as you're here you fall under that too” he says as the kid frowns and mulls over his words.
“You better not be lying, I'll kick your ass” the kid warns and shuffles over towards him, pulling the jacket closer around him as Jason turns and starts walking, the kid moving faster to keep up.
“Sure kid, what's your name?” He asks, the kid huffing and wincing as another cold wind blows, shivering more as he grumbles.
“My name's Tommyinnit” he mumbles looking up at Jason with a glare full of suspicion. Jason frowns as he looks at the kid, who moves faster to keep up with his long stride.
“Your last name is Innit?” He asks as the kid rolls his eyes and looks at Jason like he was stupid.
“Well my full name is Tommy Careful Danger Kraken Innit, but I normally just go by Tommy” the kid says with a shrug, and ok yeah the kid was fucking with him now. Jason said nothing and kept walking, the kid looking smug.
The two walk in silence until Jason sees the abandoned two story apartment complex he uses as a hide out, it certainly wasn't his main base but it would do in a pinch, and this certainly felt like a pinch.
“You can still here for now, it's not the Ritz but it'll keep the cold out” Jason says as Tommy relaxes, sighing in relief as the boy goes to the door but stops and turns to face him. His face scrunched up before he mumbles out the world's quietest “thank you” before heading in.
Jason tilts his head before turning and leaving, but something told him this wouldn't be the last time he saw Tommyinnit, not by a long shot.
He smirks beneath his mask as he grapples up to a
roof and looks out over his city, things looked like they were about to get interesting.
