Summary
Jiseok leaned his forearms on the railing and his chin on his forearms and gazed out towards the dark river. For a moment, everything else he was feeling or not feeling was momentarily buried under a surge of gratitude that he was here, in Seoul, in Korea—at home. Not in America, in Portland. Not in his homestay where he’d first learned English. Not in his apartment where he’d convinced himself that his sex life was by choice. Not in that house that had given him nothing but nightmares.
And then the guilt crept back in.
After winning his first world title, Jiseok is physically and mentally in a better place than he has been in years, with friends who care about him, a coach who respects him, and a boyfriend-slash-rival who would do anything for him except throw a competition (and Jiseok wouldn’t want it any other way).
But as he’s gearing up to tear down the people who promised him the world and then threw him into hell, a senseless tragedy stirs all of Jiseok’s trauma into a whole new storm.
