Work Text:

Leviathan is pouting, glaring down the smaller, chubbier carbon copy of himself in your arms. The copy is glaring right back. The Avatar of Envy has never felt more defeated in his life than at this moment.

"I wanted our baby to look like you, y'know. This sucks."

"Levi, don't say that!" You scold lightly. You rock your baby gently, earning you the sight of him looking up at you with a much fonder expression. "I think it's cute that you're so alike."

Maybe its just something about demon-human genetic interactions that made it so, but your DNA barely bothered to do its job. Your infant son is a perfect mini-Leviathan, save for his eye color that he gets from you — the same indigo hair, the same default moody expression, he's even got his own little set of fangs despite being only a few months old (must be a demon thing). It's adorable; if you were able to keep him a secret from the rest of the brothers, you know it'd be all too easy to convince them he was just the result of Levi getting cursed into infancy. The bigger issue is that he's also seemingly inherited Levi's personality, and all the envy and jealousy that goes with it.

"He hates me. He looks just like me and he hates me." Leviathan huffs. Your son turns back to stare at his father while his little hand has your shirt in a death grip, clinging onto you. You sigh — your husband is so dramatic.

"He doesn't hate you, I don't think he's capable of that... yet. He's just... clingy."

"He's half-demon, of course he's capable of hate! Look, if I even-"

Levi takes a few steps towards you, his arms out to hug the both of you. Instantly, your son's face scrunches up in a very upset look, getting redder and redder as he starts to whine, looking seconds away from wailing his head off.

"See?! He can't even stand me coming close to you two!" Levi whines right back, burying his face in his hands as he backs up again. You shush your baby to soothe him down, which proves successful once Levi is far enough away for him. You can't help but laugh a little — it's too familiar.

"Where do you think he gets it from? You realize you still hiss at people when you think they look at me too long, right?"

Levi bristles, crossing his arms defensively.

"I-I'm your husband! I'm allowed to do that! He's a baby! Our baby!" He moans, shuffling away to sulk in the corner. You snicker to yourself — you adjust your son in your arm so he's looking back over your shoulder. You're sure he still hasn't figured out object permanence, so as long as Levi is out of his field of view, he should be manageable. You walk over to Leviathan, rubbing his back gently to coax him out of his brooding mood.

"Exactly, he's our baby. Meaning you can't blame him for being just like his father. Remember when you had Solomon make an AR dating sim, and he made all the love interests copies of you just so you wouldn't get upset over me playing their routes? And you still got jealous?"

Levi sputters indignantly, "Y-yeah, and?! I-I don't see what that has to do with this!"

You smile, leaning in and giving him a peck on the cheek — you watch as his face turns a gentle pink, despite the scowl he's fighting to maintain.

"He's only got us two for now, it shouldn't be a surprise that he latched onto one of us and gets snippy with the other — who else does he have to envy?"

Leviathan finally looks back at you. Even when he's internally distraught that his only child seems to hate his guts, his heart can't help but melt at the sight of you with that gentle expression.

"I-I guess... but what if he hates me forever...?" He pouts, watching you rock the baby softly.

"He won't." You assure him, leaning against his side, "If anything, once he's old enough to understand anime, he'll find his own oshi and just ignore both of us."

That gets a little chuckle out of Levi, as he tries to hide his smile with the back of his hand.

"Yeah.. I guess if he's just like me, that's bound to happen." He leans down a bit closer to your face. He notices the baby's fallen asleep during your little conversation, so he speaks a bit softer. "Then once he's older... I can have you all to myself again, right?"

You lightly bump his side with your hip, mirroring his quiet voice.

"We're still parents, Levi. Wait till we enroll him in RAD and he moves to the dorms before we talk about having me 'all to yourself'. I don't think we have the bandwidth for another one right now." You tease. Leviathan quickly flushes red, stood in place and stuttering all over again.

"H-HUH?! T-That's not what I meant! I-I mean, maybe a little, b-but you can't just say that!" he calls out, watching you walk away to put your son in his crib. You chuckle to yourself — your husband is just as cute as ever. Secretly, you were hoping the baby would be like him; if he grows up to be anything like his father, he'll be passionate, creative, surely a joy to raise. It's a bonus that he happens to look just like him too. The only real issue will be budgeting for another otaku... but that's nothing you and Levi can't handle.

Notes:

uhh I used to not be too fond of parenthood fics but imagining a baby Levi is just too cute and Levi would definitely be the type to sulk a bit when he stops getting your attention 24/7. IDO is doing irrevocable things to my brain chemistry. I long for domestic life with weebsnek.
