Work Text:
Nico traced her sister's name engraved in the marble of the tombstone with her fingertips. She did this for a long time before finally doing what she had come there to do.
“Hi Amy, so…I think I might be bi.”
In terms of coming out speeches, it was a very weak one, and Nico knew it, but Amy was still the only person she wanted to talk to about it. The idea of telling her father made her uncomfortable, and telling her mother was unthinkable, but her older sister was safe. Amy was cool and wise and was always by her side.
Except she wasn't now. Not really.
She left the cemetery feeling quite foolish.
A few months later, the night after running away from home, Nico wakes up in the middle of the night. She carefully disentangles herself from Karolina's arms so as not to wake her and gets out of the van. She can't go to the cemetery, or home. But Amy wasn't in those places any more than she was there.
“Hi Amy. I’m definitely bi, and I think I kind of have a girlfriend now. Our parents are monsters and I’m really fucking scared…and you’re still the only person I want to talk to about all this.”
Nico doesn’t feel silly saying this, but she does miss her sister.
