Summary
Eight weeks have passed since the tourney at Ashford, eight weeks since Aerion lost his virginity to Ser Duncan. Though he tried to forget him, Aerion finds himself consumed by memories of the strong alpha who shared his heat with him and changed his life forever. When his father insists that Aerion choose a mate, or the decision will be made for him, he comes up with a plan that may be more foolish than clever. He insists that they hold a tourney at Summerhall, and that the winner will be granted his hand in marriage. Though reluctant, Maekar agrees. But for Aerion, the stakes are far higher. Because he knows he is with child, and if he can't convince the hedge knight to fight and win his hand, then he'll lose far more than his freedom.
