Work Text:

Wumuti came back from the tour with someone new.

Of course, Chan knew about the presence of that new addition in Wumuti’s life. It was all Wumuti could talk about.

Yuyu this. Yuyu that. Yuyu was adorable. Yuyu was so squishy. Yuyu was so huggable and kissable!

Well, Chan was adorable and squishy and huggable and kissable, too!

He huffed, glaring at the blue and pink axolotl in front of him, lying neatly in the middle of the bed, resting against Wumuti’s pillow.

Yuyu was in Chan’s spot!

He glanced at the clock and then at the door. Wumuti hadn’t finished her shower yet. It had been thirty minutes. Chan had been glaring at this squishy axolotl for thirty minutes.

“You’re not gonna steal Muti from me, are you?” he huffed, poking at Yuyu. The axolotl fell flat, face-first, on the bed. Chan picked Yuyu up and narrowed his eyes. “I don’t know why Muti’s so enamored by you. You’re just a cute little plush.”

Chan frowned, twirling Yuyu around. “Okay, I get why Muti loves you, but Muti doesn’t love you more than she loves me, right?”

Letting out a groan, Chan flopped down on his back onto the mattress. “God, I’m fucking hopeless.”

He held Yuyu aloft above him and muttered, “Why am I getting jealous of you? That’s crazy, I’m going crazy.”

With a huff, Chan squeezed the axolotl in his hand, frowning as he recalled the multiple times Wumuti had come back to the dorm and kissed Yuyu first instead of Chan.

“What’s so great about you, Yuyu?”

“Channie!”

Chan flinched and looked up, watching as Wumuti shuffled into the room and took Yuyu from his hand swiftly.

“You can’t squeeze Yuyu like that,” Wumuti said, pressing a kiss on Yuyu’s head and placing Yuyu on the bedside table. Chan’s frown deepened. “Yuyu is not Loblob, you know.”

“I wasn’t—” Chan sat up, shoulders slouching down. “Sorry, Muti. I wasn’t squeezing too hard or anything, I promise.”

“It’s okay,” Wumuti said, sitting down on the edge of the bed and tugging the towel off her wet hair.

Chan shifted closer and wrapped his arms around Wumuti’s waist, resting his chin on Wumuti’s shoulder.

“I’m sorry,” he murmured. “I wasn’t being mean to Yuyu.”

Wumuti turned her head and looked at Chan with a soft gaze. “Really?”

“Promise.”

“What were you saying to Yuyu?”

“Nothing,” he blurted out. “Can I dry your hair?”

“Okay,” Wumuti hummed, slipping down onto the floor and sighing softly as Chan put his hands on Wumuti’s shoulders and massaged her gently. She threw her head back and looked up at him with a smile. “You aren’t drying my hair.”

“I’ll get to it. Promise,” he said, gulping as Wumuti moaned, lips parting when he pressed at a particular knot in Wumuti’s shoulder. “I wish you’d let me wash your hair, too. And shower with you.”

“If you shower with me, we’re never getting out of the bathroom, Channie.”

He grinned, grabbing the towel to gently dry Wumuti’s hair until it stopped dripping water onto Wumuti’s delicate skin.

“I don’t mind that.”

Wumuti snorted. “Of course you don’t,” she said. “But I don’t want to fuck in the shower.”

“Oh.” He pouted, reaching for the bottle of hair oil on the bedside table. He glared at Yuyu as he applied the oil to Wumuti’s hair.

“The bed is more comfortable.”

“Oh!” Chan put on a grin and said, “So we can do it?”

Wumuti opened her eyes, fluttering her long lashes at him before she said, “Why did you think I took that long in the shower?”

“Oh,” he stammered, combing his fingers into Wumuti’s curls, “oh, so, like, that’s for me? I mean, us?”

“Yes.”

“Oh.”

“Dry my hair, Chan.”

“On it!”

With a smile, Wumuti closed her eyes again and let Chan plug the hairdryer in to properly dry her hair. It wasn’t the first time he’d done this. In fact, he’d insisted he could do it every time he was here when Wumuti took a shower. He wanted to wash Wumuti’s hair, too, but it led to sex most of the time. Okay, all the time, it led to sex all the time, but that wasn’t an issue. Wumuti was right, though; the bed was more comfortable.

While Chan dried Wumuti’s hair, Wumuti picked up her phone and edited the pictures she took at the end of the tour. Half of them were just Wumuti and Yuyu, and Chan couldn’t help but frown as Wumuti doodled Yuyu’s thoughts into the pictures while smiling brightly.

His jealousy was getting out of control.

He turned off the hairdryer and unplugged it, wrapping the cord around the handle and putting it back in the drawer again. For some reason, he felt like he was going crazy for feeling this way. He’d asked his members to see if he was crazy for this; most of them agreed that he was, except for Changbin, and the only reason he disagreed was that he was jealous of Loblob, too. But Changbin had told Rui about it already, and they’d resolved it.

Chan couldn’t tell Wumuti about this. He couldn’t say that he was jealous of a cute squishy toy. That’d be insane!

“You’re not putting the hair oil on me again?”

Chan blinked and looked down at Wumuti. He uttered, “Right, yeah. I’m sorry.”

“What are you thinking about?”

“Nothing important.”

Wumuti hummed, looking back at her phone as Chan threaded his oil-filled fingers into her dry hair.

“Okay.”

When he was done, Chan wiped his hand on the towel and climbed off the bed, leaving the bedroom to toss the damp towel into the clothes hamper in the bathroom.

He stood in front of the mirror and looked at his own reflection, sighing deeply.

“I’m pathetic,” he muttered. “Who gets jealous of a plushie?”

Chan washed his hands carefully, rolling his shoulders to relieve some of the feelings he was having in his stomach. Didn’t really work.

When he returned to the bedroom, Chan stopped in his tracks when he noticed what Wumuti was doing. He clenched his jaw, stepping into the room and glancing at Wumuti, who was sitting with her legs to her chest and Yuyu pressed to her cheek. The flash went off as Wumuti took the picture on her phone.

“Yuyu’s so cute, don’t you think so, Channie?” Wumuti said, looking at the picture with a beaming smile. She wasn’t even looking at Chan.

“Yeah,” he mumbled, rubbing at the nape of his neck. “Muti, I think I’m going home.”

“What?” Wumuti looked up at him, eyes wide and confused, like a cute bunny. “You’re leaving?”

“Yeah, uh, something popped up.”

“Oh,” Wumuti’s lips curled downward, and Chan could barely look away. “I was hoping we could spend a little more time together, but if something happened at home, you should go and check on it.”

“Yeah.”

Wumuti pressed her lips together, looking down at her phone, and, fuck, how could Chan lie to her like that? When did this night go wrong?

“Channie,” Wumuti said, chewing on her lower lip.

“Yeah?” he said, grabbing his duffel bag. He’d meant to stay the night. The whole weekend, even.

“Is something wrong?” Those doe-like eyes looked at him. “Did I do something wrong?”

“What? No! No, you didn’t do anything wrong,” Chan said, squeezing the strap of his bag. “I swear, it isn’t you. Nothing is wrong. I just—I have to go.”

Wumuti’s throat bobbed, and she nodded. “Okay,” she said, putting on a small smile for him. “I’ll see you tomorrow?”

“I’ll call when I’m home.”

Wumuti’s eyebrows knitted together briefly before she said, “Okay.”

Chan breathed out and smiled at Wumuti before turning on his heels and walking to the door.

It felt wrong. It felt wrong to act this way. They never went to sleep angry. They never left each other without solving a problem that came their way. They never kept things to themselves. Maybe at the beginning, but it had taken them several arguments for both of them to know that it wasn’t good to keep feelings buried.

Chan clenched his teeth and whispered under his breath, “I’m jealous of Yuyu.”

“What?” Wumuti asked softly from behind him. “I didn’t hear you, Chan. What did you say?”

“I’m jealous of Yuyu!” he said, louder this time as he turned around, facing Wumuti’s utterly confused face.

“What?”

“Yuyu! Yuyu is all you talk about! Yuyu did this! Yuyu did that! What about what I did? You don’t care about what I do anymore, and I know I’m being irrational right now, but I just—I can’t stop feeling this way. I don’t like Yuyu,” he huffed, then looked down and added, “I’m sorry. I—I just need some time to calm myself down. I’m being insane right now. I’ll leave.”

“Chan, stay.”

“It’s better if I leave.”

“Channie,” Wumuti said, and Chan looked up at her. “Put the bag down and come here.”

She patted the bed, and Chan dropped the bag onto the floor, shuffling onto the mattress and folding his legs together in front of Wumuti.

“Is that why you wanted to leave?” Wumuti asked, shifting slightly closer to Chan until their legs touched. “Because you were jealous of Yuyu?”

“Well, you pay a lot of attention to Yuyu ever since you came back from the tour, and when I squished Yuyu earlier, you scolded me,” he mumbled under his breath, shoulders sagging like a hurt puppy. That was probably how pathetic he looked right now. “And all the pictures with Yuyu. You don’t take pictures with me anymore. And I know you can’t post pictures of me, but…still. I thought you wanted to replace me, or Yuyu’s taken my spot as your favorite.”

“Chan, can you look at me?”

“No,” Chan muttered. He was too embarrassed to even look at Wumuti at this moment. What was he even rambling on about?

“Channie,” Wumuti repeated, in that gentle tone she always had when she tried to comfort Chan, and it was enough to make Chan look up. Wumuti was smiling softly at him. “I’m sorry.”

“What?”

“I’m sorry that I let you feel that way,” Wumuti said. “Of course, I’m not going to replace you. You’re my boyfriend, Channie.”

“I know. It’s stupid, I don’t know why I’m even thinking about it. It’s just that—it’s not about Yuyu, I think. I’m afraid that you’ll get bored with me someday and replace me with another dude or something, and I think, I just—fuck, I don’t want that. I mean, if I’m already this jealous over a plush toy, what happens if, like—” Chan shook his head and looked down at his hands, unable to finish his sentence. Unable to finish imagining that scenario. He couldn’t. “I’m sorry. I don’t think I’m thinking straight right now. Everything that comes out of my mouth sounds so stupid.”

“Hey, it’s not stupid,” Wumuti said. “You’re not stupid, Chan.”

“I’m acting like an irrational, crazy, dramatic, and insecure boyfriend right now.”

“And that’s fine, Channie. Hey now.” Wumuti inched closer and ended up climbing onto Chan’s lap, wrapping her legs around his body and lifting his face up until their eyes met. “Is this the only way I’ll get you to look at me?”

Chan swallowed. “I’m sorry.”

“That’s enough apologies, Channie. I didn’t ask for any,” she said. “About what you said, Chan, you don’t think I’ve ever felt that way before?”

It took him a few seconds, but when it clicked in his head, Chan blinked and said, “You were jealous?”

“I was, sometimes. At the beginning of our relationship. It was just a few anxious thoughts I had, and I dwelled on them for quite a while, but you know what?” Wumuti asked him, rubbing her thumbs on his cheekbones. “I realized that all of those thoughts didn’t make sense, because you love me so much.”

“I do.”

“And you’d marry me right now if you could.”

“I would.”

“And I love you so much, too, Channie,” she murmured, “so I’m sorry that I made you feel like I’d slip from your hands any second now, because I’m not. Nobody is going to steal me from you, and I’m not gonna replace you, Channie. That’d be impossible. Who’d insist on washing and drying my hair and doing skincare with me every time he’s here?”

Finally, Chan broke into a smile. It faded swiftly as he said, “It’s not your fault, Muti. It’s mine.”

“No, it’s my fault. I should make you feel more secure, right? I should’ve never let those thoughts even wander near you, because I do love you, Channie,” Wumuti said, smiling softly as she brushed her fingernails through Chan’s hair. “I don’t think I’ve ever loved someone as much as I love you.”

“I love you,” Chan said and leaned in to kiss Wumuti on the lips.

She smiled into it and kissed him back. Fuck, Chan was so stupid. How could he ever even doubt Wumuti for even a second, thinking Wumuti was going to get rid of him just like that? He was so, so goddamn stupid.

Chan blinked when Wumuti chuckled into their kiss.

“You’re laughing.” He pouted, staring at her as Wumuti grinned. “You’re laughing at me, aren’t you?”

“No! I’m not laughing at you,” Wumuti said, yet she was still laughing. “I’m just laughing at—this.”

“At me.”

“No, at why you don’t like Yuyu.”

“I thought you loved Yuyu more than me,” he muttered.

“I don’t love Yuyu more than you, I promise,” Wumuti said, tilting his face back to look at her. “I love you the most, Chan.”

“More than Yuyu?”

“More than Yuyu.”

“I’m so stupid.” Chan snorted. “I’m getting jealous of a cute plushie axolotl.”

“That’s okay. It’s kind of adorable, actually.”

“That’s just a kinder word for ‘crazy,’ Muti.”

Wumuti laughed softly and said, “Well, it is a bit crazy. Yuyu is, like, my baby.”

“Oh.” He parted his lips, yet no words came out of him until Wumuti let out another laugh. “Really?”

“Of course! Did you think Yuyu was my new lover or something?”

Chan frowned, embarrassed. “I told you I was crazy.”

Still, Wumuti smiled at him and patted his cheeks. “Yuyu’s like a baby to me, and that’s why you shouldn’t be jealous of Yuyu. I mean, Yuyu is your baby, too.”

He blinked, staring at Wumuti without breathing. Chan uttered, “What?”

“Isn’t he?”

“Yuyu’s my baby?”

“Well, Yuyu’s my baby, and you’re my boyfriend, so that makes Yuyu your baby, too, right?” Wumuti said. “Unless you don’t want to.”

“No! I want to!” Chan said, sounding too excited for his own good as he dragged out another giggle from Wumuti. “I want to be his dada.”

At that, Wumuti guffawed louder, throwing her head back. “Dada?”

“Papa, Dada, Daddy—whatever Yuyu wants,” he said, reaching his hand out to grab Yuyu. “Look at our baby!”

He cooed, holding Yuyu in the palm of his hands as he finally got to look at Yuyu more clearly this time. “Oh, Yuyu’s adorable!”

“That’s what I’ve been saying, Channie.”

“My baby,” Chan murmured, giving Yuyu a smooch on the head. “I’m your dada, Yuyu. I love you. Yes, I do! I love you so much!” He squished Yuyu against his cheek, grinning brightly as he said, “Who loves you the most? I love you the most! Dada loves Yuyu the most!”

“Okay, now I’m a little jealous.”

Chan stopped, eyes flitting up to look at Wumuti’s blank expression and tightly pressed lips. She was even pouting, just a little. He knew when Wumuti was jealous. This was it.

He grinned and wrapped an arm around Wumuti’s back. Chan said, “I’m sorry. I love you the most.”

“Do you?”

“I do,” he hummed, placing a kiss on Wumuti’s lips. “I love you, too, my baby mama.”

Unable to hold it back, Wumuti snickered, raising her eyebrows. “Baby mama? So you’re saying we made Yuyu together?”

“Absolutely,” Chan said, kissing her chastely. “Don’t you think so?”

When he kissed Wumuti again, she smiled into his lips, her voice softening into a quiet moan when Chan slipped his tongue into her mouth. He pulled Wumuti closer, groaning as Wumuti rolled her hips on his lap, grinding against his crotch. The simple movement was enough to stir Chan on.

He slipped a hand under Wumuti’s waistband, kneading her ass as Wumuti whined, breathing hotly against his open mouth. Chan quickly put Yuyu back on the bed, fumbling for the blanket to drape over Yuyu.

Wumuti quickly noticed it and said, “What are you doing?”

“What?” Chan said. “Yuyu can’t watch us do it. What if we make another sibling for Yuyu? It’d be inappropriate for Yuyu to see it.”

“Another sibling?” Wumuti chuckled. “Someone’s ambitious.”

“What can I say? I’ve always wanted a big family,” Chan said, grinning before he captured Wumuti’s lips again and pinned her down onto the bed.

Quickly enough, the room was filled with quiet whispers and incoherent moans. Yuyu was left at the corner of the bed, with the blanket slipping off Yuyu’s face at some point, giving Yuyu the perfect view of everything that was going on in the room.

Dad was right, this was definitely inappropriate, Mama.

The End

Notes:

Should I have rated this as mature? I wasn't entirely sure because it didn't feel mature enough. And also i thought it was hilarious to give yuyu a thought at the end lmao
