Work Text:
Changbin was jealous.
He was; there was no point in denying it. He was jealous, and there was nothing he could do about it. Because the person he was jealous of wasn’t exactly even a person. No. Not really.
It was a squishy axolotl toy.
One that Rui had found during their tour in Europe. Rui had gotten one, identical to the one Wumuti noona had, but in pink. Rui named the axolotl Loblob.
Changbin did not like Loblob.
He had several good reasons why he didn’t like Loblob. One, Loblob was everywhere, and he meant everywhere. On the nightstand, on Rui’s bed, in Rui’s bag. Changbin couldn’t even have some decent private time with Rui without Loblob staring straight at him with that cute little smile. It was slightly eerie.
Two, Loblob was always the topic of Rui’s conversation. Well, most of it, but she talked about Loblob a lot. Complimented Loblob. Called Loblob incredibly cute and squishy. Changbin didn’t like that. Rui used to always compliment him, too.
His members had teased him for it. Felix called him crazy; Hyunjin said he was being irrational, getting jealous of a toy. Seungmin fell onto the floor and laughed for a minute straight when he heard it. Jisung practically gloated in his face—he was just lucky Hyun didn’t get an axolotl, while Minho just smacked his shoulder and called him crazy. Again. The rest of them held back their laughter; he could tell.
Besides Channie Hyung, of course. He was jealous of Yuyu, too, which made Changbin sound like less of a maniac, according to Jeongin.
But he wasn’t wrong for disliking Loblob. He was certain that he wasn’t because of reason number three: Rui was always touching Loblob.
Rui liked squeezing and stretching Loblob as much as she could. She liked pinching Loblob, twirling Loblob around, and tossing and juggling Loblob in the air for her own amusement, but that was the exact reason why Changbin hated Loblob.
Because Rui used to do it to him. Rui fidgeted a lot; Changbin had noticed it since they started dating. Rui was never not moving. Rui would play with her hair, or her nails, or the butterfly ring on her finger that he got for her. She was adorable when she did that and even more adorable once she was comfortable with Changbin and started doing it to him, meaning she would play with his hair instead, or his fingers, or just pinch his cheeks and squeeze his arms and chest. God, he missed the time Rui played with his pecs.
And Changbin loved it when she did it. Sometimes when she squished his biceps, she would look at him with her sly smile, just before he pinned her down and kissed her until she was digging her fingernails into his upper arms.
He longed for those times, simply because they were gone the second Rui came back from the tour with Loblob.
Changbin scowled at Loblob, who was sitting neatly in the palm of Rui’s hand, while she squeezed Loblob’s head with her other hand. Changbin wanted to be squeezed, too.
Damn Loblob.
Loblob might win for now, but Changbin would turn the tables soon. He was Rui’s favorite; he wasn’t going to be replaced by a squishy axolotl.
He snapped out of his thought and looked back at the TV. They were watching Howl’s Moving Castle. Haru had proposed it when neither Rui nor Changbin could decide what to watch. Afterwards, the rest of them had left the dorm to give Rui and Changbin some alone time, though Changbin was pretty sure they were just out to get some alone time with their partners anyway.
With Loblob on his mind, Changbin could hardly focus on the movie. All he could think about was how Rui was playing with Loblob instead of him. Rui was leaning on the other side of the couch with Loblob pressed tightly against her cheek.
Changbin missed when Rui used to press her cheek tightly against his biceps when they watched movies.
“Changbin-ah.”
“Yeah?”
“You’re staring,” Rui said, batting her eyelashes at him and smiling. “I know I’m pretty, but don’t you want to watch the movie?”
“Sorry.” He grinned, folding his arms and flexing his chest. He raised his eyebrows. “Rui-ya, you want to rest on my shoulder?”
Rui looked at him, then shook her head. “I’m okay.”
Changbin’s smile dropped. He frowned and looked back at the movie.
He’s going to die at this point. Why is Rui not touching him?
Frustrated, Changbin tapped his own upper arm anxiously and tried to find a way to bring this up to Rui without sounding like a whiny, clingy boyfriend who demanded way too much stuff from their partner. Rui probably didn’t want that. Sure, he had never been shy to express how close he wanted to be with Rui, but it was never like this. Besides, Rui loved it when he was clingy.
Maybe telling Rui that he hated Loblob would be okay.
Or maybe Rui would tell him he was being unreasonable and laugh in Changbin’s face or something.
He shook his head. No, Rui wasn’t going to do that. Changbin glanced at Rui again, who was now pinching Loblob in the palm of her hand. He missed when Rui used to do that with his arm instead.
“Rui-ya,” Changbin murmured, reaching out to take Rui’s wrist and tugging her towards him. “Come here.”
“Why?” Rui said, even though she was practically letting Changbin maneuver her to his side.
“I miss you.”
Rui snorted, leaning against Changbin’s shoulder. “I’m right here.”
And yet they felt so far away, all because of that adorably annoying axolotl Loblob. He chewed on his lips, glaring at the pink axolotl in Rui’s hand.
“Changbin-ah.”
He met Rui’s eyes. “Yeah, princess?”
“You’re chewing on your lips,” Rui said, resting his chin on Changbin’s shoulder blade. “You’re going to make your lips bleed.”
“It’s okay.”
“You never use chapstick.”
“That’s because I can get it from you.”
Rui snorted. “You mean lick it off me whenever we kiss?”
Changbin grinned. “I mean, it’s proven to still be very effective until now. And I like kissing you.”
“Of course you do. I have pretty lips.”
“Oh, absolutely,” he said. “Can you put some balm on me then?”
“By kissing you?”
“I mean, the real balm. But I won’t be opposed to a kiss, either,” he said, and Rui rolled her eyes.
“Since you asked so nicely.”
Rui smiled and temporarily crawled over Changbin’s lap to grab his bag on the other end of the couch. Changbin found himself staring at Rui’s ass. He was just a guy. A guy who loved his partner’s ass. Instinctively, he placed his hand on Rui’s backside, and Rui let out a laugh, looking over his shoulder.
“Do you want lip balm, or was that an excuse to touch my ass?”
“Sorry, they were right in front of me.”
Rui let out another soft laugh, shifting back onto the couch and inching closer to Changbin. Rui said, “You have very bad restraints, Binnie.”
“You like that I’m bad at it.”
Rui pursed her shiny, plump lips. “Maybe,” she said, opening the small tub of lip mask and scooping a bit of balm up with her finger. Rui never used the little spoon that came with the box. Changbin didn’t like the spoon either.
“It’s close to bleeding.” Rui frowned as he looked at Changbin’s mouth. “You lick your lips too much, Changbin.”
“I’ll try not to,” he said. “I really tried, but every time I think about you, I tend to do that without thinking.”
Rui chuckled. “Liar.”
“It’s true!” He grinned brightly and said, “And when I watch videos of you, I keep picking at my lips; it’s why they’re like this.”
“So you’re saying it’s my fault.”
“And you should take full responsibility for it, princess.” He grinned, wiggling his eyebrows, and Rui snorted.
“You know, I didn’t want to say this,” Rui said, “but if you don’t take care of your lips, I won’t kiss you until you do.”
Changbin gaped, lips parting. “You wouldn’t…”
“I would.”
“Rui-ya!”
“If that’s the only way to get you to take care of your lips—”
“No! I will!” Changbin said, gulping and folding his legs onto the couch. “I promise I will. No more licking and picking. Promise.”
“Really promise?”
“Really, really promise,” he said, because the mere image of not being able to kiss Rui was enough of a punishment for him already. He couldn’t bear it if he couldn’t kiss Rui. “I’ll listen. I promise, Rui. If not, I might as well just die.”
Rui laughed. “Don’t joke around, Binnie.”
“It’s true! I can’t live without your kisses.” He pouted, lips jutting out as Rui lifted her delicate finger to apply the balm all over his lips. “I love kissing you.”
“I know,” Rui murmured softly, rubbing her fingertip across Changbin’s lower lip. “You said that on our first date.”
“I couldn’t help it. It was our fifth kiss, and I thought I was about to come.”
Rui snorted, eyes flitting up. “Didn’t you?”
“No! Not yet then!” he squawked. “I didn’t until we were on second base, but kissing you brought me there.”
“You do love kissing me.”
“I do. I think anyone who’s ever tasted your lips would say the same,” Changbin said. “You’re very kissable. I love kissing you.”
Rui smiled. “So you have said, Binnie-ah,” he said, lowering his hand and leaning forward to give Changbin a kiss on the lips. “There. All done.”
“Can I have more?”
“The lipbalm?”
He frowned. “You know what I’m asking, Rui-ya,” he said, and Rui snorted. “You just want to tease me.”
“You’re cute when I tease you,” Rui murmured, leaning closer. “What do you want, Binnie?”
“You know what I meant.”
“Maybe I want to hear it directly from your lips.” Rui cocked his head to the side. “What do you want?”
“To kiss you,” Changbin said. “Please.”
Rui smiled, pleased, and he closed the distance between them with a soft kiss. Changbin kissed Rui back excitedly. It always felt like the first time whenever he kissed Rui, with his heart racing and trying to find its way out of his ribcage. He couldn’t help but deepen the kiss to draw out soft breaths and quiet moans from Rui’s sweet lips.
When they parted, Changbin was nowhere near satisfied. He wanted more. He needed more. Rui’s kisses were so addictive that he could get high on them forever.
“Changbin-ah,” Rui said, his tone of voice having gone sultry, his eyelashes fluttering as he looked up at Changbin.
“Yeah?” he said, excitement already pooling in the pit of his stomach. He fumbled for the TV remote behind him to prepare to turn the television off.
“We should keep watching.”
Changbin paled, staring at Rui as she shifted on the couch to snuggle up against his side again. He slouched back on the couch, tilting his head back to look at the TV blankly.
So they had different ideas about where those kisses were going, apparently.
What was Changbin doing wrong? Had Rui gotten bored with Changbin? And his biceps?
The thought made his chest tighten. He didn’t like it.
He frowned and stared at the TV. He wasn’t sure what was going on anymore; all he noticed was Rui’s body against his side and Loblob in between Rui’s delicate hands, being squished and stretched out. Loblob was living Changbin’s dream.
It sucked.
Well, at least Rui was still nuzzling into his side; that was good enough for him now. He wanted to ask for more, but Rui had just come back from a very busy tour. Rui deserved the rest; she didn’t need a whiny boyfriend who got jealous of an axolotl toy.
He inhaled sharply when Rui put a hand on his thigh, fidgeting with the fuzzy fabric. She’d bought the pair of pants herself, and it was for Rui. It was pink and fluffy, and it matched the fuzzy slippers, but Changbin had forgotten to bring over his own change of clothes, so Rui had offered her clothes to him. Now, all Changbin had on were the fuzzy pink pajama pants and an oversized t-shirt that Rui usually wore at home. It smelled like Rui, which made things all so much harder for Changbin to restrain himself.
But Rui was playing with his pants now, scratching his fingernails over the fabric of Changbin’s pants, and he held his breath, sliding his hands down his thighs casually in hopes Rui would notice them.
Rui’s hand was right there! He was so close to having Rui play with his fingers again, fidgeting and intertwining their hands together like they used to before.
But then Rui put Loblob on Changbin’s thigh and rolled Loblob along the fuzzy fabric, and Changbin burst.
“I hate Loblob!” Changbin exclaimed, startling Rui.
Rui sat up straight, looking at Changbin with furrowed eyebrows.
“What?”
“I hate Loblob,” he repeated, taking a deep breath. “And I don’t want to, but I do. I don’t like Loblob, not because Loblob isn’t cute or anything, but I just—I don’t like Loblob. You’re always playing with Loblob. What about me? I want you to squeeze me!”
Rui blinked. “What?”
“I mean, like you used to! You used to do that; you’d pinch me and my biceps, and you’d play with my hands and chest, but now you’re playing with Loblob instead. You don’t do it anymore with me because Loblob is here.” He slouched down and frowned. “I wanted to be squeezed, too. I miss my daily bicep squeeze. You always do it whenever I come back from the gym, but now you don’t anymore. And I miss you. I miss your touch.”
He pressed his lips shut, feeling like a total dork after telling Rui all that. Now that he’d said it out loud, it sounded so stupid. Changbin closed his eyes, breathing out sharply and fidgeting with his own hands as he waited for Rui’s response. He was so sure Rui was going to laugh in his face and call him ridiculous for being jealous.
But then Rui said, “I knew it.”
Changbin opened his eyes and stared at Rui. “What?”
“I knew it!” Rui chuckled, her lips stretching out to form a smile. “I knew you were jealous of Loblob!”
“What? You knew?”
“Of course, you’re not very subtle, Binnie-ah,” Rui said, her beaming smile practically glowing. “You were always staring at Loblob, and you’ve been pouting when you think I’m not looking at you. I figured it out after a while.”
“So you knew this entire time?” Changbin gaped. “You were trying to make me even more jealous when you did all that stuff with Loblob?”
“I wasn’t,” Rui hummed. “I just wanted to see when you’d talk to me about it, and the only way I can spill is to play with Loblob.”
Changbin frowned. “I didn’t know how to do it without sounding crazy. Hey, princess, I’m jealous of the toy? That’s just crazy, Rui.”
Rui snorted and shrugged. “Maybe, but I want you to be honest with me. If you’d told me about it, I’d have understood.”
“You would?”
“What do you take me for? I love my boyfriend,” Rui murmured, tapping Changbin’s cheek with his finger. He grinned. “And I’ve been neglecting you a little, haven’t I?”
Changbin pouted and nodded, which dragged out a soft coo from Rui.
“I’m sorry,” Rui said, brushing his hand over Changbin’s cheek, and Changbin immediately leaned into his touch. “You know I didn’t mean to do that, Binnie. It’s just that Loblob is very squishy.”
“I’m squishy, too!” he said. “I don’t work out for hours every day for you not to touch my biceps, Rui-ya. I did it for you.”
“I thought you did it because you wanted to.”
“That was before I met you,” Changbin said, holding Rui’s hand to his cheek and pressing a kiss to his palm. “Now I work out extra hard so you’d touch me more, and you wouldn’t even do it.”
Rui smiled, dropping Loblob onto the couch to put her other hand on Changbin’s upper arm. He groaned in pleasure.
“I’m sorry, Binnie,” Rui said. “I thought you didn’t like it when I pinched you.”
“Who told you that? I love it.” He hummed and said, “It makes me happy when you play with me.”
“It does?”
“Yeah, so don’t squeeze Loblob anymore; squeeze me. I’m much more flexible, I’m bigger, I love you much more than Loblob, and I’m cuter than Loblob.”
Rui let out a loud laugh, pinching Changbin’s cheek. “You are cute, Binnie. Especially when you’re jealous.”
“I can’t believe you were teasing me this whole time to see me get jealous.” Changbin huffed, and Rui cocked her head to the side, grinning at him.
“I was teasing you so I could see how cute you are. Was it too mean?”
“Yes,” he mumbled, looking away. “It hurts.”
Rui chuckled. “Well, now, I can’t have my Binnie look this sad, can I?” he said, leaning closer as he slid a hand down to Changbin’s chest. “What can I do to make up for that?”
“A kiss,” he muttered, “please.”
A blooming smile appeared on Rui’s face, and he leaned forward, kissing Changbin softly, flattening his hand on Changbin’s chest before pushing him down onto the couch and climbing on his lap.
He gulped, taking in deep breaths as Rui licked his lips and placed both hands on Changbin’s chest. He groaned when Rui dug his fingers into his sternum and squeezed his chest.
“Oh, god,” he moaned, “that’s the stuff.”
Rui laughed, kneading Changbin’s chest over his shirt. “Is this what you want, Binnie?”
“God, yes.” He hummed, sliding his hands up Rui’s thighs and covering his backside with his palms, squeezing Rui’s ass eagerly. “I want it.”
Rui leaned down, breathing hotly against his lips. “And what do you say to get what you want, Binnie?”
“Please, princess,” Changbin said, slipping his hands underneath Rui’s pants. Rui gasped softly into his mouth. “Let me have what I want.”
“Next time, I want you to tell me things,” Rui said, “even if it sounds silly, okay?”
“Okay.” He nodded. “I promise.”
“Good, now kiss me.”
Changbin grinned, leaning up to catch Rui’s soft lips in a kiss. He lifted his knees, and pulled away from the kiss when he accidentally nudged Loblob with his foot.
“Uh, should Loblob be watching us?” he asked, glancing at Loblob, who was sitting at the other end of the couch.
Rui let out a snort, squeezing Changbin’s pecs. “Why? Are you afraid Loblob could see us fuck?”
“Well, I mean, um, no, I just…” He shook his head. “It’s okay, let Loblob watch us. That way, Loblob will know you’re mine.”
Rui laughed again, her eyes glistening. “You’re cute, Binnie.”
“Not as cute as you,” Changbin said, and kissed Rui again.
Binnie: One.
Loblob: Zero.
In your face, Loblob!
The End
