Out For The Night (By My Side)

Summary:

After a weekend of not seeing one another, Mike and Will take the time to soak in one another’s presence, recharging their social batteries after a exhausting day at school.

Notes:

saw a Pinterest post—Byler drawing, of Mike in a Hellfire tshirt and Will hugging him behind with his social battery slowly charging. Thought it was cute.

The Mariaś are so lovey dovey. Shouldnt we all agree?

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Will takes off his shoes after Mike, sighing greatly as he runs his hands through his messy hair.

Mike just looked at him, how the sun casts into his room onto Will. Outlining all of his little details, the sun resting on his hair as Will huffs.

Mike knows not to bother him in these moments. Will gets very easily overstimulated after a long day of school, especially after all of the teasing and shoving Mike and Will go through daily.

Now that Mike and Will were together—barely out, it was more difficult to go through the school day without a tease or two.

Mike sat in his Hellfire shirt and black beat up jeans, his cheeks flushed from the hot house as he lays back on his bed, one sock on and one off.

Will and Mike still hadnt said anything. Not yet. They were just soaking up one another’s space, it’s what they liked to do after a long day of school.

High school wasn’t easy at all. Mike and Will were preparing to go to the same college together—they were even before they confessed to one another.

Will was working overtime on his own personal drawings and paintings, really trying to up his creative skill.

And Mike had begun finding joy in his newest hobby—writing. Mike had loved writing. Writing little notes for Will in the morning in the extra lunch he would pack Will, writing comic strips that paired with Will’s doodles and sketches.

It was so perfect.

Will had taken Mike’s clothes from his dresser, red plaid boxers and a loose black tee. Will walked to the bathroom, shutting the door behind him as he changed.

Mike huffed, kicking his feet as he thought to change too. Mike got up, grunting as he did. Mike grabbed gray sweatpants and begun to strip away his school clothes and that one white sock—leaving him shirtless with the gray sweatpants on.

Mike walked back over to his bed, grabbing a comic book as he sits back down with a groan. Will walks back out of the bathroom, the light shutting off behind him as he blinks lazily.

Mike soaked in the mental image of his boyfriend. The shirt resting on his hips as it hugs his figure, the boxers stopping just before the curve between his ass and thighs. It was beautiful—something that Mike would certainly write about later.

Will walked over to Mike as Mike opened his arms for him, inviting him in as Will cuddled up against his chest with a soft hum, his cheek resting against the warm flesh of Mike.

“I missed this.” Will finally speaks, breaking the comfortable silence. Mike smiles, thinking for a moment.

It had been a while since they had something like this—the cuddling, the soft whispers to one another, the goofing off late at night when someone had an exam the morning of. It had been missed, dearly.

“Me too.” Mike says softly into Will’s ear, causing Will to flush at the volume. “How did your day go?” Mike asks, barely above a whisper.

Despite Mike and Will being together all day, maybe except for a few periods, Mike still liked to ask this question. He liked seeing the days view in Will’s perspective.

Hm.” Will starts, beginning to think. “It was pretty exhausting.” Will states, huffing an exhale. Mike lets out a dry chuckle.

No kidding.” He says. “Atleast Chance wasn’t there.” Will sighs, shifting to straddle Mike’s hips as he still lays against him. Mike nods. “Yea, thank the lord.” Mike says.

Will hums a giggle, nuzzling Mike’s neck as he hums, pressing soft kitten kisses to it. “And yours?” Will asks his boyfriend.

Oh!” Mike says. “I honestly had a good day. It was nice to see you after the cold front.” Mike says, smiling as Will flushes.

Over the weekend, there was a cold front over Hawkins—with a longing power outage aswell. Preventing the two teens from visiting one another.

No calling, no messages, no letters. It was torture—as Mike Wheeler quoted numerously.

“Yeah?” Will asks. Mike nods, humming. “Yeah. For sure.” Mike confirms. “It was good to see you too.” Will chuckles, his hand creeping up to ruffle Mike’s raven curls.

“I still can’t get over your long hair, precious.” Mike says softly, his hands stringing through Will’s brunette mess. Will chuckles. “It’s not that long.” Will says with a playful eye roll.

Mike pulls Will in for a slow kiss. It’s soft, sensual. Will hums into the kiss, his hands dropping down to his boyfriend’s jaw as he deepens the kiss.

They break free, breaths heaving against one another’s mouth as they dive in once again for another heated kiss.

Mike’s hand cups Will’s head, bringing his face even closer as he slips his tongue into the wet heat of Will’s mouth, causing Will to groan.

“I love you, so so much.” Mike says, his breath trying to catch up. Will giggles, suckling on Mike’s jaw. “I love you too.” Will smiles, resting his head on his boyfriend’s chest once again.

As the sun sets, the two teens lay there as their social batteries recharge. Soft hums and whispers sparking here and there as Mike softly drifts off as Will massages his others chest.

It was perfect.

It was soft, it was sensual.

Can we try it?

I'm a lazy body

Carry me up in the darkness and I will find

You by my side, you by my side,

you by my side.

Will hums, softly drifting off aswell. Perfect, soft, sensual. And theyd be out for the night, by the others side.

Notes:

Short little scene—

Joyce knocks on the door, and to her surprise no response. “Will?” She asks. No response.

She opens the door to see the two boys laying with one another. Will ontop of Mike, snoring softly into his ear as Mike’s hand lays tangled in Will’s hair.

Mike awakens to the light as Joyce stands there, hand on her chest as she smiles in her apron—from cooking dinner previously.

“Ms. Byers?..” Mike mumbles, his voice groggy and quiet as he sits up, his arm wrapping around Will as Will slouches onto him, humming as he stays asleep.

“Mike..” Joyce says softly, walking over as she sits on Will’s bed. “I..” she starts softly, tears forming in her eyes. Mike becomes surprised and flushed by this, cocking his head slightly.

“I don’t know how else I could thank you for—this!..” Joyce says, tears falling onto her naturally flushed cheeks.

Mike smiles softly as Joyce sniffs.

“Will..he’s been so much happier—so much out going. I see why now.” Joyce says. She places her left hand on Mike’s shoulder—his right being occupied by Will.

“No need to thank me, Ms. Byers,” Mike smiles.

“He is enough.”
