Work Text:
“How about orange?”
Claire looked the paint sample card over as Leon held it out for her, her hand placed protectively on her baby bump. After a moment of scrutiny, she scrunched her face and leaned back. “I don’t know… that’s kind of a strange color for a nursery,” she said, turning back to the wall of other colors.
“We can be different,” Leon offered in his half joking way.
Claire grinned. “We already are different, my love. But we don’t need to flaunt it.”
“Uh, huh…”
Claire patted Leon with her free hand. “Honestly, as long as those walls aren’t beige or white, then I’ll be happy…” Her eyes lowered to the bright orange paper. “Well, mostly happy.”
“Right,” Leon said, putting the card away.
Claire returned her focus back to the other samples.
“Y’know? Why not just go with a nice turquoise?” she said as she lifted the greenish blue card off the holder. “I really like the color, anyway.”
Leon looked it over. “Would it still work if that little bun you got there ends up being a girl?”
“I figure it would work a little better than orange,” she said with a grin.
“Fair point.”
