Lando pushed against the door, heart racing inside his chest. It was warm inside and the smell of freshly baked bread and pastries entered his nose, making his body automatically relax a bit. He stepped over the doorstep and entered the small Monegasc bakery. And what he had hoped for became reality. Lando recognized him immediately, even from behind. His light brown hair draped halfway through his neck, just barley touching the collar of his shirt. Lando's mouth went dry. His shoulders were broad, and the thin fabric of his shirt was wrapped tightly around his upper arms. Lando could see his shoulders rise and fall just the slightest with his breath, he looked so calm.
“Who is next?” The young lady behind the counter asked, looking for the next customer to help. Lando's heart started to race again, his body tensing up. He took a deep breath and walked forward. “That would be me.” he answered with a smile on his face. He came to a standstill at the counter, directly next to the light brown-haired guy. He could almost feel his warmth, it was like he could feel him breathing, feel his heartbeat. Lando tried to clear his head, the lady in front of him clearly waiting for him to tell her his order.
“Could I have 2 croissants, please” he spoke, voice soft and friendly, trying his hardest not to sound the way he was feeling inside. The lady stepped back, packing his order. Lando let out a deep breath again, trying to calm himself before daring to look sideways. He turned his head a bit, looking at the side profile of the light brown-haired man.
Lando did not know the boy, but he had seen him times before inside this bakery. The first time, they almost bumped into each other at the door. Lando was making his way inside, while the man was making his way out. The two shared a laugh, and a smile, and then the boy went on his way again. But from that day on, Lando could not stop thinking about him. His eyes had sparkled when they looked at each other, beautiful brown eyes with the slightest tint of green inside. His smile danced around his lips, creating perfect smiling creases from his nose to the corners of his mouth. Exposing his white teeth, the front once being a bit longer compared to the surrounding teeth. His hair combed back, but a few strands had fallen down on his forehead. After that time, Lando had seen him a couple more times, but they never interacted with each other. He did not know his name, his age, where he came from, what he was doing, if he was single, or even if he was into guys at all. Lando just looked at him, admired him, from a distance. But this time, this time Lando would finally get the balls to talk to him.
Lando looked at the side profile of the boy, perfect as ever. His lashes were long, his eyebrows thick.
“What did you order?” Lando asked.
The boy clearly wasn't expecting anybody to talk to him. He looked up a bit confused, pulled away from the thoughts inside his head. The two made eye contact, and a smile appeared around his lips, again exposing his teeth and creating the smile creases.
“Chocolate chip muffin” he answered, grin on his face.
“Sounds good"
“Yes, they are very good. You should try one”
“I've never had one here before”
Lando's heart was racing in his chest, ready to jump out at any moment. The voice of the man was very sweet, not too low and with a bit of an Australian accent to it. Lando wanted to stare at him for forever, but looked away as soon as he noticed he was starting to blush.
The man laughed a bit “I know, you always take the croissants, aren't you?”.
Lando looked back at him, feeling his face flush even more, the heat of his blood boiling on his cheeks. He couldn't answer with words, afraid his voice would expose his nervousness even more. So, he just smiled and nodded his head.
“My name is Oscar” the man said, sticking his hand forward for Lando to meet it.
Lando reached out and placed his hand inside the one of the man. The grip was strong, but his skin was soft. Lando felt their hands together, lighting going through his arm, making his heart do a little jump.
“Lando”
“Nice to meet you, Lando” Oscar answered, shaking his hand, without breaking eye contact.
“Here is your change” an older lady behind the counter broke whatever was going on between the two man. Oscar ended the handshake to reached for the change and the paper back laying on the counter.
“See you around, Lando” He spoke, as he winked.
“See you around, Oscar” Lando answered, eyes following the man as he walked to the door and exited the bakery. He let out a deep sight, and couldn't help but smile like an insane person.
“Here you go, your croissants” The young lady behind the counter spoke, as she laid a paperback on the counter.
“Thank you” Lando smiled as he handed her the money. “Oh wait! Could I maybe get a chocolate chip muffin as well?” Lando asked as the blush on his face returned.
