    Lando decides to spend his summer volunteering at a sea turtle conservation project, hoping for a quiet break from his usual life.

    He definitely doesn’t expect to meet Oscar, a marine biologist who spends his days rescuing turtles, collecting data, and complaining about volunteers who get in the way.

    Lando is hopelessly curious. Oscar is painfully patient.

    Between early morning beach patrols, releasing baby turtles into the ocean, late-night conversations under the stars, and far too many shared cups of coffee, Lando slowly realizes that maybe the best thing he found this summer wasn’t a reason to love the ocean.

    It was Oscar.

It only stops between another landscape drawing of their campus, before returning in a quick illustration of the man at a computer in their school library. It’s rushed, but it carries all the same. 

    Lando nearly chokes upon noticing a tiny red shape at the bottom corner. The only part of the image not perfectly curated. 

    A messy, one-stroke red heart.
