Summary
Madeleine Perez doesn’t share the beach. She’s been the best surfer on this coast since she was fourteen and she didn’t get there by making room for people who don’t belong. The rules of this town are simple: surfers on one side, bikers on the other, and everyone stays where they’re put.
Then a woman in boots shows up at the edge of the sand and says the water doesn’t have a side.
Rue Bennett came back to East Highland because it’s home. She didn’t come back for trouble. She especially didn’t come back for a girl who looks at her like she’s a problem that needs solving — and keeps showing up anyway.
The town is changing. Developers are circling. The lines everyone’s been living by are getting harder to hold. And somehow, every time something shifts, the two of them end up in the same room.
They both have a reason for that. Neither of them is telling the truth about what it is.
Chrome and Saltwater is an enemies-to-lovers slow burn set against the surfers-vs-bikers divide of early 1960s California — about two worlds that were never supposed to meet, a town that stopped making room for both of them, and two women who keep ending up at the same edge.

During a police investigation on a conducted traffic stop, Helios is injured from a shoot out against the suspect. Krista hops into action, using the Axon Taser 10 to stop the perpetrator. With the appearance of an injured boy, both Helios and Krista adopt Lio, vowing to keep him safe from the Sunfoot cult. When a police misconduct on the cult goes awry, Helios is faced to conceal both his taser and bodycam from the Sunfoot soldiers, which results in a primordial flooding across three portals according to an ancient Atlantis prophecy.

This is my take on the missing year and a half—a story about JJ Maybank, who is terrified of letting people in, and Kiara Carrera, who refuses to be pushed away.
Set in the months following their return to the Outer Banks, they navigate newfound wealth, old wounds, and the fragile line between being friends or something more. JJ is determined to do the "right thing" for once by keeping Kiara at arm’s length for her own good. But Kiara isn't the type to wait around, and life (and their meddling friends) keeps forcing them together.
From dealing with the fallout of their adventures, facing JJ’s abusive father, and confronting their own stubbornness, they must figure out if their connection is worth the risk.

Ao'nung's face went red— from anger or embarrassment, or both. "Shut the fuck up."
"I think you'll do anything to avoid having an actual honest conversation." Neteyam's voice was cold now, all the hurt crystallizing into something sharp. "Including picking a fight. Including pretending I'm just some drunk mistake you can forget about."
"I said shut UP—"
