   Summary

After the death of his first wife Kiera, the loss of his newborn sons, and the murder of his father, Valarr Targaryen is grieving. The Spring Sickness is descending on the Seven Kingdoms, and Valarr finds himself faced with the prospect of mounting the Iron Throne within the year. His councilors propose a new marriage alliance - Lady Adela of Oldtown, daughter of the Lord of the Hightower.

Adela Hightower grew up in the shadow of the Citadel. Tutored under the watchful eyes of archmaesters and raised with the pride of the ancient House Hightower, Adela has grown into a formidable young woman. With the threat of another Blackfyre rebellion looming and the Crown in need of a strong marriage alliance, she finds herself summoned to King's Landing as future queen.
