O'Servants of the Star

Summary:

The stay in the world of Teyvat had been eventful, to say the least.

During a quiet night, Elron noticed that there was something wrong with the records of the adventure.

The records.

They were out of order.

The records of the adventure that had taken place within the new World they had discovered were out of order. With instructions of the Director, she had taken upon herself to see through them all once more, and put them back together in order.

?? - Prologue

“Check the logs."

Those were the words that echoed within the Record-Keeper's mind as she walked. Moving through the pristine corridor, deep within the base, the woman sighed with a tired yet determined face.

The metal walls bounced off the sound of her footsteps, and the lights from above illuminated her path. Her hair glistened under the light, colorful and bright, even when surrounded by the coldness of the silence.

The scene was one might imagine. Everyone had gone off to sleep, and she was the only one awake at that moment. The late night of a normal workday.

Except for—

The Record-Keeper shook her head, washing away those thoughts. What anyone was doing at this late hour, as long as it didn’t pose a threat, was none of her business. She only had one thing to do, what was asked of her by the Director of the Observatory.

To check the logs.

At first, the Record-Keeper didn't understand why she was tasked with that. The records she keeps are always organized, with nothing more nor less than needed, especially since the Director would spend a lot of time looking over them, to reminisce about the adventure.

The woman reached a door. It split apart, opening while making a gentle sound, not loud enough to wake anyone up. She gazed inside, the darkness welcoming the presence of the woman without issue. The Record-Keeper walked inside, her footsteps drowned by the darkness as the door closed behind her, shutting away the light.

“Now,” yawned the Record-Keeper, carefully moving through the room as she held no vision. Reaching forward with her hand, she moved it with consideration. After walking a few steps forward, her hand touched the headrest of a chair. Nodding to herself, she whirled the seat around and sat on it.

“What did the Director want me to look at?”

That was the Record-Keeper's wonder.

The Record-Keeper knew that there was nothing wrong with what she had recorded, and there are many safety measures put in place to ensure that no record could be altered without her knowledge, at bare minimum. With that in mind, she knew that if the Director had mentioned this to her—as nothing more than a mere whisper, with no sense of urgency—then nothing that would pose harm had happened.

Even so, the Record-Keeper still wondered.

“What am I looking for?”

Was pondered into the dark room, for no one to hear except herself.

The Record-Keeper turned on the device and started looking through the records. Initially, she appeared confused, as her expression furrowed into one of doubt. She looked through folders, neatly organized to not lose any information that had been acquired about the new World they had found themselves in over time.

After looking for about ten minutes, she leaned back into the chair and exhaled.

“The records are out of order...”

She sighed.

“Who was it that disorganized this?” The Record-Keeper voiced out loud. “At least everything is accounted for…”

Small mercies, she felt, despite everything.

“Good thing that I have numbered folders. I should be able to finish early....” She muttered under her breath, feeling the hours that she will need to finish organizing the logs once more, even with the numbers.

“At least the Director promised a week off…”

And with that, leaning forward and opening the first log to see, the Record-Keeper started.
