Work Text:
The lake lays silently before you as you sit on the shore. You throw a rock into the water just to overplay the boredom. Normally, you would have work now but after cleaning up the camp from last month's slaughter of your fellow (annoying) camp counselors there wasn't much to do. Jason made it clear he doesn't tolerate anyone there so you haven't invited new guests. Maybe again when the storm has calmed down..
Another stone breaks through the water, creating small waves. Speaking of the big lake teddy... Where is he?
You want to stand up and look for him but heavy boot steps coming your way tell you where your new friend is. Right behind you.
"Hey Jay.. anything new?"
The giant simply sits down beside you on the sand, his machete resting at his side, ready to slaughter. He has been a bit jumpy recently after the whole killing and chasing so leaving his weapon at home is basically impossible to think off.
As the two of you sit in silence, you can't help but glance at his foot. The wound left by the bear trap the others had set him was still visible but at least he hasn't ripped off the bandages again. Even though you told him not to put weight on the foot he keeps walking around and following you. Kinda like an overgrown puppy.
In the distance you see dark clouds closing in, signaling an upcoming storm. With a sigh you stand up, brushing off the sand.
"Come on, we need to head back.."
You feel Jason following up behind you. There are no words spoken on the way back to his small hut. Just the wind dancing through the trees and the smell of upcoming rain in the air.
As soon as you open the door Jason stomps in. At least he leaves his muddy boots at the door. You make yourself a small snack, taking it to the old rundown couch. Jason disappeared in the back again, most likely to place his weapon with the others. After finishing your food you clean up and grab the med kit from the bathroom. It's about time to change his bandages as you know he wouldn't do it on his own. Sitting back on the couch, you wait for Jason to return.
Maybe an hour later the killer actually returns, now wearing a ripped sweater. He takes a seat next to you without a word, making you involuntarily move closer thanks to his impact.
The giant just looks at you silent before pointing to the kit on your lap.
"Yes, I want to wrap your wound up again. Can you pull up your pants leg?"
After a moment of hesitation Jason listens. The wound wasn't as bad anymore. No more bleeding and stitches hadn't ripped either. You should be able to pull them in a few days.
Through the whole changing procedure Jason doesn't move. He sits still like a statue, his eyes fixated on the wall. You could even question if he's still breathing.
"... And done. Please don't try taking them off again, we're running out of bandages" you finish, putting everything away again.
Jason nods, looking back at you. For a long moment you two sit in silence. There's nothing to do now that the rain is drumming against the window outside.
"So..." You start, drumming your fingers against your thighs, "what now?"
No answer
"How are you feeling?"
Jason tilts his head, looking down at his hands a bit lost. Then he signs 'Fine'
"And your leg? Does it still hurt?"
'A little'
Clearly not getting anything more out of him, you go back to watching the rain drops raise down the glass. With the steady breathing next to you and his warmth you could actually fall asleep. Out of instinct you lean against him, cuddling into him.
Instantly the breathing stops as he turns to you, questioning what you're doing.
"I'm just cuddling you."
His questioning eyes blinking behind the mask stare back at you. Does he not know what affection is?
"Cuddling? Affection? You know.." you motion between you two but this too is met with incomprehension. He clearly is clueless about what hugs are.. "Okay, let me show you"
You lean in closer again, wrapping your arms around his big chest. Again he freezes, looking back down at you a little lost. "Now you do the same" Jason carefully puts his arms around you in a very clumsy manner. It's actually quite adorable.
You stay like that for a few more minutes. Over time Jason becomes a bit more relaxed and even leans against you. His head rests on yours and his breathing slows down. Did he fall asleep? Seems like it. Now you can't move and might as well accept your fate as a human sized pillow for the big lake teddy.
....
At least he knows what hugs are now.
