Summary
Osamu Dazai never wanted to become a doctor. As a second-year medical student at Yokohama university he doesn’t want to graduate and work at his father’s elite, multi-billion-dollar hospital, he studies not out of passion, but obligation. Medicine is simply another inheritance he never asked for.
Chuuya Nakahara never meant to fall apart in a city that isn’t even his own. A first-year literature student from France, newly arrived in Yokohama with his sister Kōyō, Chuuya’s only goal is to graduate and go home. But when he’s diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis — a progressive disease that slowly steals control of the body — finishing college becomes the least of his worries.
When Dazai quite literally runs into the fiery redhead on campus, he expects irritation, not obsession. He expects flirtation, not fear. And he certainly doesn’t expect the tremor in Chuuya’s hands to drag him back into the world of medicine he’s been trying to avoid.
