It’s been a long day, full of meetings and notes and all the boring stuff that Tony hates. Right now, as he walks through the elevator doors leading to the penthouse, there is little on his mind other than “finally”.
He plops down on the couch for his busy-day-ritual, which consists of the popcorn sat in his sweatpants-ed lap, and the sappy romcom on the tv in front of him. He’s halfway through the first episode when the elevator dings.
“Tony?”
“Right here, Honeybear,” Tony replies, turning his head to look at him. Rhodey’s still dressed in a suit from his day of work, his tie loosened and his shirt untucked.
Without bothering to change, Rhodey sits himself next to Tony on the sofa. He brings his legs up and rests his body slightly on Tony’s. Reaching over, Rhodey grabs a handful of popcorn and shoves it in his mouth.
Although Tony’s grateful for Rhodey’s presence, he’s not very happy about the amount of popcorn that is going to be taken from him. “Rhodes, do you really have to eat like a vacuum? I’d appreciate still having popcorn by the end of the episode.”
Rhodey chuckles, “I’ll hold back, but I’m not promising anything.”
Tony grumbles.

By the time the 4th episode starts and they’re on their second refill of popcorn, the elevator dings.
“Pepper!” Rhodey yells, startling Tony from where he sits half-asleep next to him.
“Hi boys,” Tony looks up from where her heeled feet are in front of him to her face, “I’ll be right back once I change.”
In what seems to be no time at all, Pepper’s sat on the other side of Tony, now dressed in unicorn printed pajamas with her hair pulled back to show her bare face.
As the show continues on, and Tony’s very close to losing his battle against sleep, Pepper reaches into the popcorn bucket and grabs a handful. Tony observes as she picks each kernel up and eats them one by one, and then he watches Rhodey shove another ginormous portion into his mouth, barely chewing.
Sitting as just the three of them on the couch with each of their limbs touching in some way, Tony thinks he can overlook the inconvenience of having to share.
