Work Text:
Nabiu was actually quite happy today!!!
There was a very specific reason for that, which didn't include the fact that it was the weekend and Karoto had been happy!
No, today, they were gonna have a big picnic with the other Interns!!!
Wizzro even said he may join them when he finally gets those pesky papers out of the way that his stupid employers gave them, those imbeciles-
His words, not her.
It was a beautiful, sunny day for the occasion too, the white clouds in the sky reflecting her happiness quite well as of currently.
Right now though, the little blueberry needed to get all the things for the Picnic that she had been tasked to do.
And as the loyal Assistant she was to Wizzro, she would also not fail the one she called her friends!
That meant scouring her Parents fridge while they were out, humming while butter and toppings were pushed away, juice being taken out.
Specifically apple juice, because apple juice was the greatest invention known to Specieskind.
The Fridge wasn't emptied, but she had been required to get the Cheese and some kind of drink for the others-
Nabiu wanted to bring something else too though! She thought everyone deserved that!
That meant also just jumping onto the oven while looking through the cabinets, careful not to stumble off and hurt herself in some way.
Nobody liked seeing her hurt, that was surely important knowledge that she had gained.
But anyway-
“Mm…Doesn't taste good, Mama snack, Papa snack, I'm saving those- AH!”
[Received (10) Chocolate Bars]
Perfect! There should be enough for all the Interns….hopefully!
Carefully, Nabiu jumped down from the wooden counter, walking across the wooden floor and carrying around the small bag that she had snatched earlier.
The rustling inside it was quite comforting to her, being a sound that accompanied the M.A.G.E while she put on her yellow hat.
Sure, she may not have work, but it was excellent for hiding in the shadows and not getting blinded by the sun.
Nabiu's parents weren't home, so there was no need to say goodbye either- Not like she wouldn't have done so if they were there.
That just meant grabbing her keys, which were hanging right by the door.
One quick grab let them disappear into her inventory, which wasn't the same for the bag. She'll just carry that.
A hand went on the door.but was quietly retracted, taking a quick step back.
Better idea!
Slamming open the door in the most gentle way possible, a smile rose to her cheeks quite quickly, hoping around the path to get to her location.
Even if she just as quickly abandoned it to go walk through the cold grass, humming never ceasing but continuing on her way instead.
Flowers crossed her path, probably a bunch of people, the passing leaves as autumn came, just about any cloud or insect possible-
It was truly something sweet, these walks.
Nabiu was happy to be an intern! She always had something to do, the people were nice….
Unlike School.
….Urgh.
School.
What a nauseating and mean experience. She couldn't believe how mean people could be under the wrong influence!
Nothing she could do to stop it-! Not like the teachers ever did anything correctly-
But she shouldn't….or thinks she shouldn't pry on that subject.
Wizzro did say that it was healthy to not repress those memories and feelings, as it wouldn't do anything good to let them fester.
Just like most bad emotions, they needed to be released!
So, Nabiu was fully allowed to think about them, although the little blueberry still didn't enjoy it that much to remind herself of this.
….
It helped that she was walking while doing so though.
The wind was quite nice.
There was a faint smell of grass in the air, of leaves and wetness that she caught through the Grapevine that she ate from.
And with each step, the memories just weren't as bad anymore when she knew that new ones would be made with ease.
That's why Nabiu hopped around easily, holding her back and keeping that happy smile while the wind led her along to her destination.
A destination with many, many voices that were intertwining, one where a little blanket was strewn out for the occasion and the sun was shining beside the clouds.
Where the Open field incited her to run forward and yell as loud as needed.
“I HAVE ARRIVED!!!”
All the Interns who were sitting there, being most of the new and old ones, turned their heads over to her, not including the masked one and the frog playing ball.
Mono was the first to speak up with a soft smile, approaching her quickly and for once not wearing his giant hat.
“AAh-! Nabiu, it is good to see you!”
As always, he was nervous, putting a hand on her shoulder to warm up to the touch that he always felt.
And oh, she LOVED WARMING UP!!!
“GOOD TO SEE YOU TOO-!!!”
“AWWAAh-’
Mono had been quickly crumbled by a giant hug, squished to perish, the poor little guy.
However, there was still a laugh that escaped that little mouth as they fell back onto the picnic blanket, quickly jumping up again.
Quick precision brought quick happiness, throwing out the items with her usual smile and returning to the situation at hand.
“I brought my part as always!!!”
Nabiu happily exclaimed, looking around the endless fields of grass and random trees scattered everywhere that were already growing moss.
The bushes and flowers made a lovely combo and the smell of fresh wind was delightful!
Cyle, the little wolf was currently munching away on a peanut butter sandwich, looking up at the sky with wonder.
But he responded with a full mouth anyway, giving a thumbs up to Nabiu.
“That's great!!! There's more food now-”
“Not the important thing-!”
Mono argued quickly, poking him in his fur as neither wore the hat to protect themselves from the sun shining down on them.
Honestly, Nabiu was content to just lay down and watch the clouds pass by, looking at their gigantic shape, how they formed into giant monstrosities-
It was beauty.
Something that the little blueberry knew wasn't always appreciated by everyone.
Tate though, seemed content to watch with her, his neck stretching out to gather the sun nearby.
“Aaaaaah. Much better.”
He hummed, laying on his back as well while she listened to the breeze and the other Interns laughing as background noise.
It was a nice, peaceful moment as some insects even crawled on her, nothing dangerous at all.
Small butter was even sliding across her legs, leaving residue behind that she didn't entirely mind, for it was just natural order.
For a moment, she tucked up the sunlight that was shining down on her face, taking a big, big breath-
One that was interrupted by someone stuffing a cookie into her face very kindly.
Yummy.
“Here! We saved one for you.”
The Pink Cat with glasses stood over her, everything smelling like Cat now that she was sitting close, probably ready to jump around again soon.
Zoomies are natural after all.
And it was nice to see every type of person go about their natural behavior, including stuffing one self with cookies.
The quiet breeze almost made her want to take a nap in the shade or play with Wizzro's pet pig-!
Speaking of Wizzro-
“Finally…”
The yellow M.A.G.E was strutting up the hill, already sweating from the exercise an old man like him should probably not take.
He made the effort anyway, carrying a little satchel of what she could only presume was berries with him!
Sometimes, Wizzro did go ingredient hunting for new potions or ideas after all.
“Wizzro!”
“My dear Girl!”
They greeted each other, which lead to the small blueberry getting a sweet pat on the head from the older man.
The smile he gave her was returned with ease as they settled back into the picnic blanket, getting Mono to come close too.
“Uncle, I was worried you wouldn't show up-”
No worry in the world was stopping Wizzro from chuckling apparently.
“Oh, please. It only took a bit to properly get everything I needed-”
A harsh mutter.
“Stupid GIBBONS-”
One that only lasted a second before that smile quickly returned under his beard, opening up a book to read it while he laid back.
Once more, silence became the only thing hearable beside the unfortunate noise of a ball hitting someone's head.
Perhaps, she chuckled while devouring a sandwich or too, talking to her fellow Interns who accepted her or even getting along with Wizzro.
The world accompanied her.
Because the World was love.
Which meant she was Love.
For she was the world to someone.
