Work Text:
Katsuki of the wolf clan was raised with strick values. Chosen young to be the next chieftain, he was raised to have a lot of pride. When he met Izuku, at four years old, a weak little omega, clinging to his adopted fathers coat, his pride was injured. As a child of the chieftain, Izuku was expected to act with a certain amount of grace. None to be found in that little naive body of his.
Izuku seems to hold him in great deal of respect. Which is only natural after all, he is to be the chieftain of the wolf clan after all. What makes it annoying for him is how much Izuku trails after him, wanting to hang out.
He denies any kind of activity with the other child but a stern warning from his mother had him changing his mind on the matter. So with a few others they went around and found bugs. Izuku slower than them but eager to hang out, kept up with them.
So every now and then they would go out and get bugs together. Izuku while annoying came to be more entertaining than he initially thought. Over time Katsuki began to enjoy hanging out with Izuku. It wasn’t until the thunderstorm hit their town did he really begin to truly value Izuku as someone he wanted to stay by his side for the rest of time.
The two had ventured off on their own due to others excuses of not being able to come. The bugs were frustratingly few and far in between. Leading them further and further into the forest when the thunderstorm hit. Far from shelter and any familiar place. Katsuki for the first time began to panic.
Izuku was calm though not at first. He seemed to put himself together at seeing his friends distress. He remembers him grabbing his hand and leading him around for a bit until they found shelter in an empty cave.
They stayed their for a few hours, talking and laughing together. When Katsuki asked why did he even want to be around him, Izuku answered with a bright naive smile, that it was because he wanted to marry him.
At that moment Katsuki agreed to marry him. After the rain let up and they managed to find their way home, Katsuki told his parents about the engagement. They of course were delighted and promised to take care of dealing with Izukus parents. Which gave him time to properly court him. Gifts of food and clothing were handed to his omega who seemed at the time a little confused but happy nonetheless. This happened for months until they were 13 years old.
His parents promised to help with the parents but not many people wanted to marry into the wolf clan, sure they would do business with them but never marry. The wolf clans ideals on marriage were very different then any others. They did not want their bride to keep any old tradition they might have from other clans. They had to rituals that others may find bizarre and weird like eating the heart from a wolf their husband killed. One thing other clans hated was that their were no backing out once intent to marry came into play. The wolf clan mated for life and would have no other. That promise had to be fulfilled.
When the Sheep Chieftain heard of what their little omega child promised him. He was horrified and instead of staying and honoring the deal, he took his clan and ran. It was easy since they were primarily nomads but still it was clear that he had ran. His clan was enraged at the Sheep Clan and they had spent years hunting them down for the runaway bride.
On the day he spotted his bride to be, seeing him strut around without a care in the world he decided to play with him a little for all the heartbreak he had to endure. Sitting down with him in the cabin, he is very much glad that he did so. Izuku cries so beautifully.
