Work Text:
Lucy knows where this is going before she even climbs into his lap. She knows their clothes will be all over the floor. She knows that it will be a few minutes before they both would be able to move again.
She knows that after the day she had that this is exactly what she needs. Tim is exactly what she needs.
She climbs on his lap and wraps her arms around his neck. He pulls her in for a kiss, and runs his hand up her back. His hand feels warm and rough against her bare skin.
It feels good.
It feels normal.
It feels perfect.
“So are you really going to dig that suit up?” She asks putting a hand on his face. Tim grins at her and leans in to give her a kiss.
“Yes.” He says. “If you want me to.” Lucy nods and scoots closer so she is pressed up against him.
“I do.” Lucy says. “I really, really do. You look good in blue.” Tim nods and presses his forehead against hers.
“I love you. I wish I had someone like you in high school.” He says and Lucy’s heart breaks a little. She imagines teenage Tim feeling lost, hiding everything from everyone because he was ashamed of where he came from. He didn’t want anyone to see the scars, the ones you could see and the ones you couldn’t.
It hurts to know he didn’t have anyone, he didn’t really have his mother because she was being abused too. She let it happen to him—and Tim just took it to protect her and Genny.
“I don’t know if you would have liked me.” She says. “I was a know it all being controlled by my parents.”
“I would have liked you.” Tim protests. Lucy raises her eyebrows at him, and she leans back to study him.
“You didn’t like me when I was your rookie.” She says. “There’s no way you would have liked me in high school. I bet you were—”
“Insecure? Put on a fake front so no one saw who I was?” Tim asks. “And I liked you Lucy. I did.”
Lucy gives him a doubtful look. She knows Tim has changed since she was his rookie, even after that. And even when they started dating the first time and now. He was different from the closed up man, hard ass he once ones.
And she fell in love with him more and more everyday.
“You liked me eventually. But not at first.” She says. “It’s okay. I understand you were training me.”
Tim nods and pulls her in for another kiss. His hand pushes up her sweater, and then he’s pulling it over her head and tossing it aside.
She bites her lip and looks at him. He’s looking back at with nothing but love and awe. She can’t believe she gets to live this life with Tim. She gets to have him all to herself.
They live together.
They were in love.
She was helping him rebuild his relationship with his mother and it was so good.
They were both happier than ever, and making out on the couch they bought together.
“You know.” Lucy says as Tim leans forward to bury his face into her neck. “We broke the last couch. That’s why we had to get a new one.”
“This one is sturdy.” Tim says pulling back to look at her. He has such a soft expression on his face it almost doesn’t fit the moment. But it makes her also feel a sort of heat, a sort of happiness she only feels with him. “We tested it out the first day we got it.”
“Oh yeah.” She says as if she could forget that day. The moment this sofa got in the house, they were on it.
Lucy adjusts herself on his lap, and then pushes him down so he’s laying on his back. She climbs back on top of him and runs her hands up his chest.
“Are you ready to try it out again?” She asks. Tim nods and she bends down to kiss him. Her hands move to the bottom of his shirt and he pulls it off himself. Once it’s off, she moves down to undo his belt and unbutton his pants.
This day might have been stressful but this night was going to be so much better.

“You said you talked to your mom about me.” Lucy says later. They are laid out on the couch side by side. Lucy is tucked into his side with her head on his chest. “What did you say?”
“Really?” Tim asks looking at her. He looks amused but he still has that soft expression on his face. “You really want to know?”
“This is your mom Tim. I want her to like me, and I want to—” She trails off and Tim presses a kiss to the side of her head.
“She already likes you Lucy before I even said anything. She’s already telling about her friend Linda. I don’t need to convince her.” Tim says. “She didn’t really know Isabel, but she never warmed up to her.”
“Oh.” Lucy whispers and her clenches a little in the best way. “I didn’t know.”
“I told her about how we met. I was your training officer and you were my rookie. She had a few things to say about that.” Tim says. “But then I told her it was so much more after that. And you and I—”
“My mom would have a lot to say too and it wouldn’t be understanding.” Lucy says. She slips her hand under the blanket and puts it on his heart.
“We never crossed that line when you were a rookie. I never would.” Tim says. Lucy nods and she believes that. She never got herself to think about Tim that way until she couldn’t help herself.
“I know babe.” Lucy says softly. “What else did you say about me? Nothing bad I hope.” She gives him a smirk and he rolls his eyes.
“I told her you are amazing. You are smart, empathetic and you have worked so hard to get where you are.” Tim says and he takes a deep breath. “And I’m so proud of you. I told her you make me happier than I have ever been. And I told her I messed up but I am not going to do it again.”
“Wow.” Lucy says. “You really sung my praises huh.” Tim kisses her again, and she feels such a sense of peace and joy.
“Always.” Tim says. “You are one of my favorite people and I want my mom to get to know you too.”
“Good.” Lucy says and she snuggles more into him. “Anything else?”
“You are so nosey.” Tim says. “There was one more thing but I am not telling you about that… yet.”
“Tell me.” Lucy says. “Please.” Tim shakes his head and rolls over to kiss him.
“Nope.” He says. “That’s for me to know and for you to find out.”
“Timmm.” Lucy says. “Tell me.” Tim closes his eyes and then rolls on top of her.
“I told her I love you.” He says. Lucy raises her eyebrows because she already knows that. He shows her every single day. In his words and actions. “So how about I show you that?”
He kisses her before she can say anything and she wonders if they will ever make it to the bedroom.
“Okay.” She says. “That’s sounds perfect.” And one day she will find out what else he told his mom.
But right now this is exactly what she needs.
