Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

It’s not the usual thing you’d see in a birthing room, doctors panicking and the parents so utterly displeased. You'd expect smiles, an explanation of how the baby is doing.
Not now, though.

“What is wrong with her?” Debby gasped, assuming she heard the doctor wrong. What could she have heard, though? She was lying to herself, begging it wasn’t true, until she was graced with the horrible sight of her daughter. Daughters. But she wasn’t upset for the baby, no, she was mad at the baby. Nine months. Nine months of suffering, annoyance, and fatigue. And the baby came out wrong?
“A.. a girl, miss.” A doctor whispered, cradling the infant to the best of his ability. The babies were screaming, but it was more loud than usual. It was doubled. “Two, really-“
“I don’t want ‘em.” The mother spat. Perhaps the chloroform was getting to her head.
“What? Miss, she’s your baby! You must.”
“No. I don’t want to raise a freak. Kill it if you have to.” The words coming out of her mouth were horrible, but yet, no one could disagree. No one could want a child like this, with two heads and sickly form. Much too strange looking to be a proper baby. It could ruin the family’s reputation! If not, it’d certainly taint it.
“Honey..” The lady’s husband mumbled, leaning down and chirping into her ear. And suddenly, the mother decided she was wrong. She wanted the child, she reached for it! The doctors handed it over, and the mom, while reluctantly holding the crying baby to her chest, let herself sink into the bed.
“You’ll be a great thing for us.”
