Title: Pulling Horns
Prompt: Date/Flirt
Summary: Lucifer was wallowing because he wanted to surprise Alastor with a date since he's been such a bad partner but due to an emergency that no one could explain right away as to why Alastor left the hotel the night before, Lucifer is waiting for Alastor to come back to the hotel. Husk lets it slip that Alastor had been flirting with Lucifer from the very beginning when they met in the mortal realm and in Hell on the first day when Lucifer appeared at the hotel.

~~Story Begins~~
It was an eventful morning for the third day of Valentine’s Day week prompts. Guests were getting ready for their dates later tonight or they were just flirting with each other while they did their daily tasks. Angel Dust was leaning against the counter as he flirted non-stop with the grumpy bartender who was trying not to smile.
“Heeeey,” Lucifer said sitting on a barstool. “Have either of you seen Alastor today?”
“Short stack, really?” Angel Dust said with a frown as he sat up straight and crossed both sets of arms. “After how you treated Smiles, the last two nights what makes you think we would tell you if we did know?”
Lucifer flinched at that and looked down at the bar counter.
“Angel,” Husk said.”Just because Alastor isn’t here doesn’t mean that he still won’t know about your attitude.”
“No, he’s right,” Lucifer said as Alastor's shadow rose from the ground and rested its body on Lucifer’s lap where Lucifer started to pet its head. “I haven’t been the best partner to Alastor so I can understand the attitude. I was hoping to talk to him about going on a date tonight. I was hoping that I could take him to the Lust ring and-”
“Hold on,” Husk said. “You want to take Alastor on a date in the Lust Ring? Do you even hear yourself? What makes you think that Alastor of all Sinners will want to go to the Lust Ring?”
“Yes? They have the spiciest food restaurants in all of the rings,” Lucifer said. “If you would have let me finish, the Lust Ring is also the easiest circle of Hell to get to the mortal realm. I was going to surprise him by taking him to New Orleans for the date.”
“No way,” Husk said, blinking. “You were going to take him back to his hometown?”
“Yeah. I figured he could show me around the town,” Lucifer said, fidgeting with his wedding ring. “Tell me where things used to be, see if any of his favorite restaurants were still there so we can eat there. Let him take charge of the day while I learn more about his past.”
“That’s actually sweet,” Angel Dust said.
Lucifer nodded. “I thought about pulling some strings to get it to where we would be in New Orleans during the time he was alive, but that would actually cause me to get sick and it gives me such a terrible headache that I literally have to sleep for a week just to make the pain go away.”
Husk put an appletini onto the bar counter for Lucifer to drink. As soon as the devil reached for the glass, a shadow that wasn’t Alastor’s came down from the ceiling and knocked the glass over. Angel Dust blinked at the scene, Lucifer frowned, and Husk just started to laugh.
“I had a feeling that was going to be the case,” Husk said as he cleaned up the mess. “The Borrdeau family has a tradition of cooking where each generation adds just one more ingredient to the recipe and you just so happened to tick off the one that is close to Alastor.”
Lucifer stared at Husk and blinked slowly.
“Shadow Maria is fiercely overprotective of Alastor and their family recipes. The chicken and waffles you made last night for Alastor that Angel and I enjoyed so it wouldn’t go to waste, that was Maria’s recipe and not Alastor’s,” Husk said. “Those mini chicken tacos that Alastor made for you, they were delicious, but Alastor doesn’t just make that dish everyday. Naw, not when that was the first dish he made by himself in which his Dad loves even though he couldn’t handle the heat.”
“You make it sound like you knew Smiles when you were both alive,” Angel Dust said watching as Alastor’s shadow tried to attack the shadow that knocked over Lucifer’s glass which only got a hit on the head and retreated back to Lucifer’s lap.
“I did,” Husk said. “So didn’t Niffty. We knew Mimzy too.”
“When I asked about Nope, you said you didn’t know her,” Lucifer said.
“You mean Hope? I didn’t know her. I didn’t meet Al until he was 21 and walked into the speakeasy that I was working at and helped me out at the bar when it was busy. Alastor may say that I’m the best bartender on this side of Hell, but he can make even meaner cocktails than I can,” Husk said.
Angel Dust leaned against the bar. “Surely you have some juicy stories about Smiles when you two were alive. Can you tell us some of them or will he pull your chain?”
“UGH!” a scream yelled from behind them before Charlie joined them at the bar and just face planted onto the bar. “Who invited the von Elderitch family last night?!” she yelled into the bar.
“Char-char,” Lucifer said as Alastor shadow’s ears perked up. “Uh, is everything okay?”
“NO!” Charlie yelled, lifting her face up. “No, it’s not okay! Seviathan keeps sending me flirty text messages and I’ve been ignoring them, but Vaggi saw one and the one that she saw was a pretty damning message so now she’s not really talking to me! Whenever I try to kiss her for today’s prompt she just brushes it off and when I try to flirt with her she refers back to Seviathan!”
Alastor’s shadow moved around the bar, pouring different drinks into a glass before nudging it towards Charlie.
“Ah, Alastor’s infamous Liquid Courage,” Husk said with a nod. “Appriorate for you right now Charlie.”
“What’s in it?” Charlie said.
“Trade secret,” Husk said. “Honestly, it just sounds like you two need to talk and that drink right there will more than definitely give you the courage to talk to Vaggi. Everyone who drinks Alastor’s Liquid Courage usually ends up having good luck.”
“Yeah, but right now she’s giving me the cold shoulder so how exactly can I talk to her?” Charlie said, looking at her dad.
“I can’t quite help you there,” Lucifer said with a sigh. “I don’t even know where Alastor is or he went too last night.”
“Wait…you didn’t invite that family to the dance last night?” Husk said,
“NO! Like why would I? I broke up with Sevianthan for a reason and even then Helsa has been completely rude to me. Honestly, I would much rather take Katie Killjoy over Helsa anyday!” Charlie said.
“Strange,” Husk said. “They haven’t been showing up to Overlord meets for years and now all of a sudden they are making an appearance?”
“It doesn’t sound any different than Smiles when he took his seven year absence from what I’ve heard,” Angel said.
“Angel, they haven’t shown up even longer than that. When they do show up, they act like they are better than everyone else there and that their problems should be of higher authority,” Husk said. “Even then, when Hell was getting destroyed by the Might of Lilith, they weren’t there to help stop the destruction. No, something isn’t right there and they are planning something. It might have something to do with getting the King and Princess away from their partners.”
“They have been family friends for eons,” Lucifer said. “I highly doubt they are planning something like that. I think they are just being misunderstood, besides we need to focus on the bigger picture.”
“What’s that?” Angel asked.
“We need to help Charlie and Vaggi talk!” Lucifer said.
“Dad, that’s great and all, but-” Charlie started to say.
“No, no, I will not allow my baby girl to be sad during this week! You’ve planned this whole week to spoil Vaggi and I will not let that go to waste!” Lucifer said. “We just need to think of something that will get Vaggi to react to you so you can talk!”
Husk sighed but Alastor's shadow dove into the ground and merged in with Husk’s shadow sliding up the wall as it whispered something into Husk’s ear. The bartender’s ear twitched before it nodded and the shadow went back to Lucifer’s lap.
“Charlie, why not take a page out of Alastor’s book?” Husk said.
Charlie blinked at Husk. “What do you mean?”
“Well, Legs here was asking for a story about Alastor from when we were alive and I have one that I think Al wouldn’t mind me sharing to this group,” Husk said. “It might also help you get Vaggi’s attention since it would be out of character for you.”
“Oh! Lay it on us!” Angel said as he batted his eyes at the bartender.
“You want to hear about it Charlie?” Husk asked.
“YES! I always love learning about your guys' lives when you were well…alive,” Charlie said.
“And as for you, Lucifer,” Husk said, “You have no choice but to hear it out.”
Lucifer chucked as he scratched the area in between the antlers on Alastor’s shadow. “Yeah, his shadow isn’t going to let me leave.”
“Now what I’m about to tell you is something in which you can verify with Mimzy and Niffty,” Husk said. “So it’s not some BS that I’m spewing. Alastor has always been a smooth talker, especially with the ladies. He can charm anyone with a few slick words, compliments, flirting with them in ways that you naturally see in those romance movies and shows. He was good at it too, it was a way in which he was able to survive and in return, protect those close to him from tensions raising. He was always wearing the mask of a perfect gentleman when the businesses and speakeasies were open. When the doors were closed and it was just those that he trusted around him, well, he became the Alastor that we all know as the Overlord, serial killer, cannibal son of a prick.”
Lucifer reached over to grab a handful of peanuts that were sitting on the bar counter only for a shadow to come from the wall and knock all the peanuts down onto the floor with the bowl. Alastor’s shadow bristled itself up like it was a cat trying to make itself look bigger.
“What is that about?” Charlie asked with a frown.
“Alastor had to get his prickly attitude from someone and he got it from his mother,” Husk said. “Your father is basically dealing with a prickly attitude from Alastor’s mother until he makes it right with Al.”
“You met with Alastor’s mother?!” Charlie asked, so excited.
“Yes,” Lucifer said with a nod. “She’s quite a character.”
Husk let out a laugh. “His dad is way worse when it comes to protecting Alastor. Just be thankful you haven’t met him yet,” Husk said. “But anyway, imagine my surprise when one night, Alastor walks into the speakeasy with a short white man that obviously screamed that he came from money. That part wasn’t unusual as he did that a lot with some of his victims, and some people who he left lived just to continue throwing police off of his trail. No, the unusual part was when they had entered the establishment, Alastor made a comment insulting the man’s height.”
“Why is that unusual?” Lucifer asked. “It’s what he did with me when I first came to the hotel.”
“Because in that time frame, Alastor could have gotten hanged for insulting a white man,” Angel said.
“It was more of the fact that Alastor had insulted someone while the business was open and in front of their face instead of behind their backs,” Husk said. “Alastor did lead him to the bar and made a drink in which the man loved, but he tried to act like it wasn’t that big of a deal. The man eventually made it to the dance floor and I watched Alastor watch him and it was one of the first times that I’ve seen Alastor look absolutely smitten with someone. I warned Alastor, I warned him that he was playing with fire. That this man was absolutely not worth the temptation that he was presenting to Alastor, that he needed to watch what he said and to stop with the insults.”
“I can’t see Alastor taking that very well,” Angel Dust said.
“He didn’t. He laughed. The first thing that he cleared up was that he wasn’t insulting the person to be mean, he was flirting with them and that he had asked the man to come hang out with us at the speakeasy as a date. Alastor had clarified that this was a date that couples usually go on and not the date where only one comes back alive.”
“You’re kidding! Alastor’s flirtation is a little kid pulling on someone’s pigtails,” Angel Dust said while laughing. “That’s so adorable and on point with him!”
“But he’s been mean to Vaggi since day one!” Charlie said.
“To be fair, I remember Vaggi shoving a spear against his throat when we first met at the hotel,” Angel Dust said. “I think he was still talking about how he hasn’t been entertained since the stock market crash of 1929 where there were so many orphans.”
“That would do it,” Husk said. “Especially if he didn’t do anything to cause the threat except showing up. Alastor has a tendency of riling people up to where they attack him first, but if he didn’t even cause it and he was already being threatened then he frowns a bit. I’m also guessing the spear was made out of angelic steel which he tries to avoid being around as much as possible. I always wondered why he seemed to be so antagonistic against Vaggi considering he treats a lot of females with respect and kindness.”
“Huh. I never thought about it like that,” Charlie said.
“Pardon me for asking by the way and I know this might sound off-topic, but I need to know,” Husk said leaning against the wall with the alcohol. “Does the name Lucuis Magne mean anything to you two?”
“Where did you even hear that name?” Lucifer said, narrowing his eyes at Husk.
“Does it mean something to you?” Husk said.
“Magne is our last name we use when we go to the mortal realm for any reason,” Charlie said. “My name is common enough that I don’t have to change it. Lillian is my mother’s mortal name and Lucius is Dad’s.”
“Why are you asking?” Lucifer said, his hat lifting a little as his horns started to show on his head.
“I told Alastor that he was playing with fire, that the man was not worth the temptation and Alastor’s response back to me was, ‘I’m not just playing with fire, Husker. I’m playing with hellfire and that man is worth every single temptation in life and in the afterlife as he is the devil himself.’” The cat bartender slammed a paw down onto the bar counter. “Alastor knew that you were the devil somehow and with that fact in mind. I can 100% say that the amount of people who Alastor has flirted with I can count on one claw.”
“So, this whole time that we thought those two were bickering was really just Alastor flirting with the Short King?” Angel Dust said.
“Yep.”
Charlie let out another scream which scared everybody and even had Vaggi coming from somewhere in the hotel straight to the lobby in an attack mode.
“What happened?!?” Vaggi asked.
Charlie grabbed Lucifer’s shoulders and started to shake him back and forth.
“Dad! You followed Alastor home when you went to the mortal realm! That’s why he knew how to make those mini chicken tacos! That’s why he seemed so happy when I told him about it last night!” Charlie yelled. “Do you know what this means?”
“No?” Lucifer said, trying to get Charlie to stop shaking him.
“It means that you did in fact follow a serial killer home! You were in danger!” Charlie said.
It was just then that Alastor’s shadow started to go crazy as it moved away from Lucifer and started to scratch at his head while shaking it. Its glowing eyes glaring at the door as its mouth opened in a scream.
“Whoa! Hey, what’s going on?” Vaggi said, lowering her spear.
“It’s Al,” Husk said, narrowing his eyes. “Something is going wrong with him right now.”
“What do you mean?” Charlie said. “We need to go help him!”
“How do you propose we do that?” Angel Dust said. “We don’t know where he is!”
“I know where he is,” Husk said. “The issue is that he hasn’t summoned Niffty or me yet to go help him or his own shadow.”
“But-” Lucifer said.
“You asked if I had seen him today,” Husk interrupted as Alastor’s shadow disappeared. “Not if I knew where he was.”
Charlie removed her hands from Lucifer and grabbed the Liquid Courage and drank it all in one shot before looking over at Vaggi. She ran over to Vaggi and held her girlfriend’s face in her hands.
Everyone turned their attention to the Princess of hell and the former exorcist angel so they didn’t notice that the hotel doors were opened and that two figures had walked into the hotel lobby.
“Charlie, what are -”
“Vaggi, I absolutely love you with all of my heart and I find that the way you fight is incredibly distracting because you make it look like it’s a dance and you are stupidly beautifully sexy that I can’t help but watch you!” Charlie said before kissing Vaggi and pulled back. “But we absolutely NEED to find Alastor and help him because he’s good for my Dad and I refuse to see my Dad be sad and depressed again!”
“You also just want to see your Dad grovel to regain Alastor’s forgiveness,” Vaggi said in bewilderment as she was still focusing on Charlie’s words.
“Yeah, that too, but also because you always go all out when training with Alastor in combat and have I mentioned that I find that to be extremely hot and distracting?” Charlie said.
“Huh, that’s not exactly Alastor’s type of flirting, but it works,” Angel said.
“Really, Lucifer,” a voice said, causing everyone to turn towards the hotel doors where the two figures were standing. “Are you really insisting on letting your daughter mingle with that ruffian?”
“Fredrick,” Lucifer said as the two girls pulled apart. “What do you mean by that? My daughter can be with whoever she wants as long as they treat her like the princess that she is, the way she deserves to be treated, and is happy.”
“What would Lilith say?” Frederick said as he came closer with Sevianthian right behind him. “Her only heir falling in love with an angel. You know one of the ones that pushed you and Lilith out of Heaven.”
“I think Lilith would be happy that her daughter has found love with someone who will fight for her and defend her views,” Lucifer said, straightening up. “Our children broke up for a reason, Frederick and Charlie have improved a lot since then. I don’t know what happened within the relationship, but I will not allow Charlie to go back to being the shell that she was before.”
“Dad,” Charlie said softly and in awe.
“I may not have been there for you physically or mentally Duckling,” Lucifer said looking over his shoulder at her. “I have never quit watching over you. I am a seraphim - even a fallen one - and I have many eyes.”
“Come on, they were teenagers,” Fredrick said, walking over towards Lucifer. “They were not emotionally stable enough to know what they wanted.” Frederick grabbed Lucifer’s hand and placed a chaste kiss on his wedding ring. “Surely they have grown enough to know better and try again.”
A shadow tendril wrapped itself around Fredrick’s waist and threw him back towards his son knocking both the von Elderitch’s males to the wall.
“I would say,” a staticky voice said through the radio behind Husk’s back as the hotel’s doors opened again revealing Alastor as he limped into the hotel lobby, “that the apple doesn’t fall from the tree, but that would be insulting our mighty King.”
“Alastor!” Lucifer, Charlie, and Angel Dust said all at the same time with only Lucifer running over to the radio demon.
Alastor’s clothes were torn in multiple places, black ichor was dripping onto the hotel’s carpet from wounds that were on his arms, legs, and chest. Everyone in the lobby was now able to see the angelic wound on his chest that was pulsating with angelic infection and the golden veins that were a lot closer to the black core of Alastor’s soul. The leg that Alastor was dragging through the door had an exposed bone at the knee which explains the limping.
“You-” Frederick said, getting up with a glare.
“I do hate tearing families apart,” Alastor said as he ignored Lucifer’s hovering. “Your wife and daughter will be delightful screams for the next radio broadcast and I just need you and your idiotic son to join the collection.”
“I thought it was below your standing to hurt women,” Sevianthian said finally speaking.
“Below me? You absolute buffoon! I’m an equal killer opportunist! Everyone knows that,” Alastor said dryly. “Good hell graces Charlie, you dodged a bullet getting rid of this idiotic gnat for a boyfriend. You upgraded quite nicely with your paramour now. Don’t lose her.”
“Thanks Alastor,” Charlie said.
“Is that a compliment? Why are you complimenting me?” Vaggi said.
“Now as for you, your Majesty,” Alastor said, turning his back to the von Elderitch males and facing Lucifer. “You should take a lesson from your daughter and cut off the toxic friendship you have with them.”
Lucifer blinked as Alastor took his hand without the wedding ring and kissed it gently.
“After all, why waste your time with people who only look through you and care only for the phantom presence of the Queen of Hell when you are still here in the present?” Alastor said.
“Why value a friendship with those who weren’t there to help support you when you're down?” Alastor said as he gently held onto Lucifer’s face with both hands once he stood up straight and placed a kiss on Lucifer’s forehead.
“When you were in danger? When your kingdom was in danger?” Lucifer received a kiss from Alastor on the cheek after he asked the question
“You dare think you have the right to touch Lucifer, Sinner!” Frederick yelled.
“Why work on a friendship when that friendship threatens the safety of your daughter?” A kiss on the other cheek.
“Why keep a friendship with those who are envious of your throne and will try to take it from you because they believe they can rule better?” A kiss on Lucifer’s nose area.
“When they can’t even be bothered to rule over their own territory as an Overlord or show up to the Overlord meetings or Overlord events that will help improve Pride City?” A kiss on Lucifer’s eye once Lucifer blinked.
“When they haven’t tried to fight the exorcist angels during the exterminations to save those under their Overlord rule or to help the Hotel?” A kiss on Lucifer’s other eye.
“Why keep a friendship that only allows you to remember the past instead of embracing the present or the future?” A kiss on top of Lucifer’s hair once the deer demon knocked his silly hat off.
“Why keep a friendship when they threaten your greatest creation, your pride, and joy, just because they don’t like the fact that they are no longer an immediate part of your lives?” Alastor pulled back from Lucifer only to grab his hand that had his wedding ring on it and turned it around where the palm was up and placed a kiss on the palm of his hand.
Lucifer’s cheeks were not a golden hue! He also was not getting misty-eyed at the attention. He did not need to take a deep breath to get a hold of himself or to find his voice that wouldn’t waiver at the look of devotion and worship within Alastor’s eyes. He let out a yelp as he was engulfed in shadows only to teleport next to Charlie who was shoved behind Vaggi. He looked over Alastor’s side and where they were just standing was Fredrick with a spear lunged forward.
“Dad! Are you okay?” Charlie asked.
“Whoa! What the hell?” Angel Dust said getting up from the bar just as Husk jumped over the counter hissing. “Did you seriously just try to kill Hell King and Alastor?”
“My wife and daughter were supposed to distract you long enough in your realm,” Frederick said. “I demand them back.”
“Ha! No!” Alastor said as shadow tendrils came out and attacked the two Hellborns. “I don’t show any mercy to anyone who threatens my realm and I’m not starting now!”
“Alastor, we don’t kill-” Charlie said only to yelp as Vaggi pushed her away as a water spear came close to them.
“You are not arguing with Alastor right now,” Husk said. “He takes his territory as an Overlord very seriously for a reason. Anyone who attacks his territory is doomed to be a radio scream.”
Lucifer, Vaggi, and Charlie all ducked just in time as Sevianthian was thrown over their heads by a shadow tendril crashing him into the front desk. They looked back over to see Fredrick lunging a spear towards Alastor who was too slow to dodge, hitting the exposed bone in his leg causing the radio demon to nearly fall to his knees in pain.
“That’s enough!” Lucifer said, causing his demonic features to spring forth as he attempted to fly towards the two fighting only for a water spear to get lunge again towards Alastor which was met by a shadow tendril.
“You think you are so clever,” Frederick said as he dodged shadow tendrils fluidly. “Well you aren’t clever enough as you are severely weakened from protecting your pathetic territory which left you even weaker on protecting the hotel and the royal family.”
Husk grabbed Angel and flew back as Frederick jumped onto the bar counter.
“You haven’t been able to carry out any of your plans of overthrowing the royal family,” Alastor said, causing both Lucifer and Charlie to look at them in shock. “Why? You only started to try and overthrow Lucifer once Lilith left Hell.”
Frederick’s spear clashed with Alastor’s microphone as Alastor tried to push him off of the bar counter, distracting the Hellborn male from the shadow tendrils creeping around his feet.
“Don’t tell me that the von Elderitch family had a little secret tryst with the Queen of Hell?” Alastor said. “Or does it have something to do with how envious your family is of Lucifer and his position of power and his family? Hmm?”
“You need to learn your place Alastor, and quit being a thorn in our side. You’ve stopped us from overtaking the throne for all of these years. Charlie would have been my daughter-in-law if you hadn’t stepped in and blocked my magic,” Frederick said. “Lucifer would have been drained if you didn’t get through the spell Bethesda placed on Vox! Those spells take time and a lot of energy.”
“Trust me, I know my place,” Alastor said just as he moved his microphone away from the water spear and rushed the shadows to engulf Frederick completely. The radio behind the bar glowed an eerie green as it crackled to life before calming down. “And it’s not below the feet of a family who is envious of a powerful and beautiful family.”
Alastor turned his neck over to Sevianthian who was getting up and looked scared of Alastor as he limped closer. Alastor held his microphone against Sevianthian’s neck. “I’ll make a deal with you. I’ll spare you from my radio show if you confess all of the plans your family had attempted to take control of the throne to the King of Hell and the Princess of Hell with her girlfriend. If one single detail is left unsaid then your fate will be worse than that of your family’s.”
“D-deal.” Sevianthian said, holding out his hand in which Alastor took as a small burst of magic flew between them and a small line went to Husk who frowned.
“Husk, I’m sorry to ruin whatever date you had planned with Angel Dust, but I’m going to need you to make sure that he’s not hiding anything from our royal family,” Alastor said. “As much as I would love to be there -”
“Go ahead and get some rest Boss,” Husk said, crossing his arms.
“Oh and Lucifer,” Alastor said, looking at the King before summoning four tickets and handing them over to Lucifer. “I have four tickets to a musical that I was going to take you, Charlie and Vaggi to tonight; however, due to circumstances, I will not be able to go. Perhaps you can find someone that will be happy to be your date tonight while I rest.”
Lucifer looked at Alastor as he took the tickets. He looked down at the tickets only to look back up to see Alastor vanishing into the shadows.
“Ugh! I can’t believe him,” Vaggi said. “Alastor knows we don’t want him to be killing Sinners.”
“First starters, that family is Hellborn, not really a Sinner,” Husk said, summoning a bottle of booze. “Second of all, Alastor’s realm is a realm where those who are killed in self-defense from their abuser or abusers go to stay safe. He’s promised them that as long as he in an Overlord he won’t let anyone of them have to fight to save themselves again and if someone does attack his realm, then he has their screams on the radio so his residents can sleep better at night knowing they won’t have to worry about them attacking their homes again.”
“Not to mention,” a female voice said above the stairwell getting their attention so they can see that it’s a yellow female doe demon eyeing Sevianthian with a look of malice. “That if Alastor let them live then it would have caused more issues for you later on down the road. His Dad is extremely protective of Alastor and does not appreciate anyone trying to kill his son.”
“You don’t know that! The future isn’t set in stone and they could’ve changed!” Charlie said.
“Excuse me?” the doe said. “I’m sorry Charlie, but you need to trust me on this. I know my husband quite well and my husband would have hunted this family down and cut their heads off. He then would have arrived either in front of Alastor or myself and presented their heads to us with the blood still dripping off their necks as a courting gift. My husband would not care who was around when he presents the courting gifts.”
“Wait? You’re Al’s Mom?” Angel Dust said. “You’re shorter than I imagined.”
“It’s us short people you have to look out for as we carry the most rage,” she said. “Besides, my husband hasn’t changed since the first day I met him all those years ago. I highly doubt he’s going to change now so yes, Charlie. It was in your best interest in his heart that he did what he did, otherwise you would have a lot more problems in the future, not just in your future with this hotel, but also as a Princess of Hell.”
It wasn’t until much later that night that Alastor woke up to a delicious scent being under his nose and with a groan as his body was still aching, he opened his eyes to see a mug of coffee. His eyes followed the hand that was holding onto the mug all the way to a face that he wasn’t expecting to see.
“Lucifer?” Alastor grumbled as he blinked the sleep away. “What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at the musical?”
“I-I decided not to go,” Lucifer said as Alastor sat up. “You planned a full date for tonight with the musical that you knew I wanted to go see because it’s always sold out, but I knew I wouldn’t be able to enjoy it. Not without you there to mock it in my ear or with all the information that I learned about tonight. Oh! I almost forgot the most important reason!”
“Which is?” Alastor said, taking the mug of coffee.
Lucifer gave Alastor a ‘Really?’ looked and motioned to Alastor’s body.
“It’s just a few bruises,” Alastor said in defense, scrunching his nose up. “I’ll be fine.”
“Alastor, your angelic infection has gotten progressively worse where you’ll be lucky to even make it at the end of this week,” Lucifer said.
Alastor took a sip of his coffee and looked inside the mug like it had answers he was seeking.
“Alastor.”
“You put your blood in here,” Alastor said. “Thank you.”
Lucifer let out a broken, sounded laugh as he ran his hands through his already messed up hair as Alastor stared at him.
“Why are you thanking me?” Lucifer said. “I should be thanking you! For years you have been protecting both Charlie and me without us even knowing about it! You’ve been doing that without being told and yes! I did talk to Rosie about it because I thought it was an order she had given you when your soul was under her grasp, but no. She didn’t even know about it! I-I just can’t believe that Frederick would do that or feel that or even include his family in it!”
“Well, they are from the Envy ring if memory serves me correctly,” Alastor said, grabbing Lucifer’s arm and pulling the fallen angel sideways onto his lap before wrapping his arms around him. He rested his chin on top of Lucifer’s hair before he took another sip of coffee. “And like I told Frederick, I know my place and it has always been by your side. Ever since I first saw that rain drop sizzle away once it touched your hair.”
Lucifer let out a huff and repositioned himself so his head was no longer Alastor’s chin with a glare, but he did not move himself away from the arms holding him in place on the Radio Demon’s lap.
“Speaking of which, how dare you just leave me alone like that in the mortal realm!” Lucifer said, poking Alastor’s shoulder. “I waited for you to arrive for two months before I stopped going to the mortal realm and I became depressed again. Where were you?”
“Sire, did the thought cross your mind at any point during those two months that I might have died?” Alastor asked with a raised eyebrow.
“You were so young in life and I didn’t sense your death to be on the horizon otherwise I would have put a tracker on your soul!”
“I was murdered,” Alastor said in a flat tone.
“Oh. That makes sense,” Lucifer mumbled before snuggling back into Alastor’s body.
“Did Sevianthian explain that his sister has been cursing Charlie with bad luck in the kitchen?” Alastor asked innocently.
“She did what?” Lucifer said growling as his tail emerged and thumped against the bed. “No, he did not mention that.”
“Shame, I had high hopes for him,” Alastor said with a slight hum. “I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt and think that he didn’t even know it was a part of the plan. He honestly didn’t want anything to do with the plans for the throw.”
“Then why did he follow through with them?”
“Because he actually does have feelings for your daughter and is envious of Vaggi,” Alastor said. “So he thought he could be the knight in shining armor to save your daughter from one of the plans to get her away from her paramour.”
“Huh? Why not just, I don’t know, talk to Charlie and Vaggi over it? I don’t think Charlie would mind having a boyfriend and a girlfriend. I mean, yes, he was completely toxic to her and ruined her self-esteem for a while, but the option was always there for them to talk. I think Vaggi would have been a partner for them both knowing when they went too far.”
“Surely you jest, your Majesty?” Alastor said in bewilderment.
“What? Polyamours relationships are a thing and I support them!” Lucifer said.
“Not that,” Alastor said, flattening his ears.
“Then what is the issue?”
“Sire, even I know that angels don’t like to share what they know is theirs,” Alastor said. “Charlie is most definitely Vaggi’s soulmate and she will not share Charlie with someone else.”
“Psh. Yeah right, angels don’t have soulmates and even if they did,” Lucifer said before he stopped and rubbed at his eyes. “If-If they did, then it must have been something that Creator bestowed upon them after I had already fallen, because I don’t have a soulmate.”
Somewhere on the other side of the Pentagram City in a nice little city where the buildings were pink and clean just as much as the streets, there was one house that still had the lights on. Inside that house was an elderly skeleton complaining about some young waiter who had spilled blood on her lovely fox scarf that she was scrubbing when she heard a noise of something being summoned behind her.
“Who decides they can just barge into my house?” the skeleton said, turning around only to see Sevianthian tied up in angelic thread count rope with a peach shoved into his mouth. A shadow figure raised from the ground and handed the skeleton a note before disappearing back into the floor.
The skeleton read the note and let out a laugh.
“Boy, you sure do know how to charm an old gal don’t you?” she said with a laugh before looking at the hellborn. “I always wondered how Hellborns tasted. Hopefully better than that angel crap, that was too sweet for my taste. I prefer things to be a little more burnt for my taste.”
