Little Kaoru and Little Kojiro were sitting in the sand at the park occasionally winding each other up by messing up their sand drawings or flicking sand onto the other when a girl with short brown hair nervously walked up to the two children.
The hands behind her back came forward revealing a little daisy that she must have picked herself, she reached her arm out to Kojiro and muttered a “its for you.”
Kojiro looked confused for a moment until the gears started to turn and he beamed, “oh! Thank you!” he said, taking the tiny daisy from the girl's hand and into his own.
The girl smiled and her cheeks went a little pink before she ran away to a group of girls who were giggling on the other side of the playground.
“Kaoru did you see that!” Kojiro said holding up the daisy as evidence that it did in fact happen.
“Who is that girl?” Kaoru asked hesitantly, he wasn't sure why but he felt something in the pit of his stomach when that whole thing happened.
“dunno but she must've liked me!” Kojiro said inspecting the daisy with a lovestruck look and that made Kaoru feel this odd feeling once again.
“Hm, I don't know how anyone could like you and your monkey brain,” Kaoru said, pushing those confusing feelings away and returning to his usual bantering with his best friend.
“Hey! You're just jealous that girls actually like me!” Kojiro spat back shielding his daisy as if Kaoru had insulted it.
“Jealous? I'm not jealous!” Kaoru scoffed, turning away in a huff.
“You are too!” Kojiro argued before their bickering was cut off by the voice of Kojiro's mother.
“Koji! Come on we need to leave now” her Italian accent slipping through as she spoke.
“Okay! Bye Kaoru” he said, waving goodbye.

Kaoru opened his locker and a small pink sticky note fluttered out, he almost didn't notice it if it wasn't for Kojiro pointing it out.
“Is that another note?” he asked, slipping on his indoor shoes, eyeing the bright pink paper that was on the floor.
Kaoru hummed and picked up the said note reading it aloud.
“Sakurayashiki-kun, I have been wanting to tell you something for a long time now and I just want to get it off my chest. If you could meet me on the rooftop at lunch I could tell you there.”
“Well are you gonna go?” Kojiro sighed, watching as Kaoru crumpled the note and put it inside his pocket.
Watching his best friend get so many confessions made him feel these weird feelings that he never felt before.
He felt angry but he didn't know why, shouldn't he be happy for his friend?
“I might, why are you jealous?” Kaoru said jokingly, the corners of his lips turning in a cheeky smile.
Kaoru was joking but to Kojiro he was serious, he was jealous. That is what he was feeling. But jealous of what? Kaoru getting all the ladies and not him? Or maybe he wanted Kaoru to himself.
No. That was silly, he was definitely straight. Women are the best.
“Hello? Are you coming dimwit?” Kaoru said knocking Kojiro out of his trance, he stood with a hand on his hip.
“Dont worry princess im coming”
—
When lunch time came around Kojiro went looking for his friend, first he tried his art classroom and when he didn't find him he already knew where he was.
With a heavy heart he climbed up the stairs to the rooftop where he saw Kaoru and a black haired girl, not as tall as him but not a lot of girls were.
The girl smiled and her cheeks were going pinker as she looked at him before she gave an apologetic gesture before waving goodbye.
Once she left, Kaoru spotted Kojiro and immediately went over to him.
“Well what did you say?” Kojiro asked, almost sounding too desperate.
“I said no, she didn't take the rejection to heart though.”
“Hm, that's good.” Kojiro hummed, he didn't know how to feel about his best friend getting all of this attention.
“Come on, let's go eat.” Kaoru said walking down the stairs and soon Kojiro followed.

For Kojiro's whole life he had one best friend, that was obviously Kaoru so when there was a new addition to their duo he didn't know what to feel.
So two became three, it took awhile to adjust to the new third person but over time he grew to know Adam well and everything seemed to be fine.
Well it was fine until he noticed that Adam and Kaoru seemed to be getting closer and closer.
“Your special Kaoru, I like that about you” Adam spoke with a smile that seemed too good to be true in Kojiro's eyes.
However Kaoru didn't think the same, he was flattered at the compliment from Adam as he truly admired the man and his skating techniques.
“You think so?” Kaoru said, turning his face slightly to hide his pink face from the constant compliments.
Adam hummed and took Kaoru's hand to fiddle with his rings and trace over his knuckles.
“I know so.”
Well this was awkward, Kojiro sat on the bench watching the two with a visibly cringed out face. They were acting like he wasn't even there and it made his blood boil.
Kojiro doesn't really get actually angry, sure he gets irritated when he and Kaoru bicker but it's never rage like he felt in this moment.
Kojiro crushed his empty can and grabbed his skateboard, he couldn't bear to watch this anymore.
“Im gonna head home.” he said loudly but he wasn't sure if they really were listening.
—
By now it was clear that Kaoru and Adam had begun dating, the two were never off of each other's faces honestly it was seriously weirding Kojiro out.
He didn't like Adam, not at all. He hated how he just got to walk in here and take away his best friend just like that.
His hatred of Adam really did drive a wedge between him and Kaoru, they weren't hanging out as much as they used to and instead of hanging out with him he would hang out with Adam.
It hurts, anyone else would feel the same if your best friend suddenly forgot about you for their new boyfriend.
When Kaoru came to school on Monday his neck was full of love bites and his arm had a few bruises.
“Do I wanna know where those bruises are from?” Kojiro said, holding Kaoru's arm gently.
“Just from skating, Adam was teaching me a new trick.”
That was another thing about Adam, he liked to test stuff out on Kaoru. Pushing him out of his comfort zone a bit too much and threatening him if he refused.
Damn he hated this man but he didn't want to risk losing Kaoru so for now he would keep his opinions to himself.

Kaoru had gone through a lot these few years because of Adam, fortunately he was able to get out of that horrible relationship with the help of his best friend.
Kaoru felt terrible prioritising his love for Adam more than his relationship with his best friend, he couldn't imagine what Kojiro was feeling during that period of time.
Kojiro being the kind soul he is, he allowed the two to make up and they spent a long time expressing feelings and working through their fall out.
Just when things were getting better between them again Kojiro got the news that he was accepted into culinary school in Italy.
Kaoru was very excited for him but he couldn't help but be disappointed that he wouldn't be with him for a long time.
There was also a thought in the back of his mind that what if he had found a person better than Kaoru, one who wouldn't mistreat him and someone who would be loyal 24/7.
Kojiro is handsome and a good sweet talker. He could really become close with anyone in a matter of minutes because of his confidence and charisma.
Would they drift apart again while he was in Italy? Everyone knows long distance doesn't always work out.
Kaoru really has a cheek for being worried about all this stuff when he had done the exact thing to Kojiro but he simply couldn't help but worry.

It had been a few years since Kojiro had come back from Italy and despite Kaoru's worries of him finding a lover and moving on he was still single.
This night they were at S, Reki and Langa were getting ready for their beef when Kojiro struts over with his fangirls trailing behind him looking like they were in a trance.
“Hey pinky.” he says putting an arm around Kaoru's shoulder which Kaoru immediately shrugged off.
“What is it you needy Gorilla.”
“How about you and me beef after this.” he said nodding towards the boys who were positioned at the starting line.
Kaoru scoffed, “Sure, what are the stakes?”
“Hmm, I didn't think that far yet.”
“Well if i win, you have to treat me to dinner and wine every day for a week.”
Kojiro smirked “oh yeah? Well if I win you have to last a week without Carla.”
Kaoru's eyes narrowed but he nodded otherwise.
“Deal.”
–
“You ready?” Kojiro asked positioning himself to take off.
Kaoru hummed and did the same, “Do your worst Gorilla.”
“You too Pinky.”
–
Long story short it was very close but Joe had won, only by a millisecond but beating the almighty Cherry Blossom anytime was an accomplishment for him.
As soon as his board stopped his herd of women came cheering and clinging onto him.
Honestly it made Kaoru want to throw up at all the lovey dovey looks in the fangirls eyes.
The air was filled with praises from high pitched voices and giggles, if Kojiro was so popular at S why was he single?
Kaoru stormed off not wanting to witness any more of the glazing of the man whore.

After a long day of dealing with picky clients Kaoru was glad to be met with a bowl of carbonara and a bottle of red wine.
“You like it?” Kojiro asked him from his left, he was leaning on his hand gazing at Kaoru with a soft look that made Kaoru feel a little uncomfortable.
“I have this meal all the time. If I didn't like it I wouldn't eat it." Kaoru responded, twirling pasta with his fork.
Kojiro laughed and his gaze turned even softer if that could even be possible.
Kaoru's fork stopped at his lips, “What are you looking at, your freaking me out”
“You're just really pretty.” Kojiro responded looking deep into his eyes.
“Shut up Gorilla, go sweet talk one of your fangirls.”
“I'm serious, you know.” Kojiro said, tucking a piece of Kaoru's hair behind his ear.
Before Kaoru could even say anything Kojro butted in once again.
“You know in high school I was so jealous that you got asked out all the time, not because I couldn't get a girlfriend but because I wanted you.”
Kaoru's eyes widened “how much have you had to drink?”
“And when you dated Adam," Kojiro continued ignoring the previous question “it was hell. Watching you love someone that wasn't me.”
“What are you getting at Kojiro?” Kaoru hesitantly said.
“I love you Kaoru.”
“You're drunk, you don't know what you're saying.” Kaoru looked down back at his carbonara because the constant eye contact was seriously too much for him right now.
Kojiro chuckled, “I'm not drunk! Even if I was drunk, words are sober thoughts you know!”
“Thats a stupid saying.”
“Whatever you say princess.”
“So, you’re serious?” Kaoru asked, uncharacteristically nervous.
“Of course I am.”
“Well, I am too. I love you too Kojiro.”
Kojiro's eyes widened slightly and his cheeks turned a little pinker than normal.
“Oh yeah?” he said with a big smile.
Kojiro took Kaoru's chin and brought their faces up close to each other, Kojiro asked for silent permission and Kaoru nodded before closing the gap and letting himself relax into the kiss.
For Kaoru this kiss was different from any other one from Adam. Adams' kisses were rough and yes most of the time that was Kaoru's thing but this kiss was soft and gentle, it was nice to experience even just for a short period of time.
When they separated they just stared at each other for a moment taking the moment in.
Kojiros smile grew wider and wider as he realised that he had finally had Kaoru to himself, no more love notes, no more Adam, just each other. That's all Kojiro could ask for.
