Work Text:
Hunk and Pidge were trying to get to class as fast as they could, but Lance decided he needed coffee to start the day, making them stop at a shop they all usually went to.
“Lance we’re gonna be late!” - Pidge screeched, the trio had about 15 minutes to get to school, and go to class obviously.
“Oh come on Pidge” - Lance whined “we’re gonna be fine.” - he added
“Pidge is right, man, we’re gonna be late” - Hunk responded.
“Yeah, maybe, by like 2 minutes” - McClain rolled his eyes as they walked in the shop.
The boy didn’t bother to look up, expecting his usual barista to be there. He reached out for his wallet while mumbling something about his regular.
“What exactly is your regular?” - Lance’s head snapped up as he heard an unfamiliar voice.
“You’re not my usual barista!” - he piped up.
“No, but I am a barista, what do you want” - the man behind the counter stared up at him with a glare in his eyes. He was ever so slightly shorter than Lance, maybe by a few inches.
“Not a familiar face, but definitely a pretty one” - Lance flirted, leaning against the counter, his expression turning into one of smugness. Pidge couldn’t help but face palm at Lance’s dumbass flirting.
“Sure, handsome, whatever you say.” - The guy’s mouth perked up a little. “Order?”
Lance gave him the order, adding two small teas for Pidge and Hunk as an apology for having them run late. He made sure to add ‘pretty boy’ at the end of his sentence.
He walked back to the two, waiting for the order.
“Lance, what the hell was that!” - Pidge squeaked, she could never handle Lances flirt attempts.
“Shooting my shot with a cute guy, obviously” - He smirked.
“Look man, we’re glad you’re looking for someone in your life, but that is not the way to go about! You don’t just flirt with random people.” - Hunk rushed through his words.
“Meh, I’ll be fine.”
“You didn’t even give him your name. You don’t even know his name, matter of fact.” - Pidge indulged.
“Wait, I didn’t-? Then what’re they gonna call out-“ - Lance cut himself off as someone placed their drinks on the counter and yelled out ‘order for handsome’.

After class, Lance insisted on going back, he NEEDED to know who that guy was! He could swear he’d seen the boy somewhere before, but he couldn’t put his finger on who he is and where he’s from.
The guy definitely wasn’t someone he was familiar with, but there was something about him that told Lance they’ve met before.
When he got to the shop, he noticed the guy walk to the back, leaving some tray stray on one of the very few tables.
He could swear the boy would walk out and pick it up soon, so he pulled out a sticky note and wrote down ‘hey pretty boy ;)’ and wrote his number underneath it, hoping he’d text or call.
He heard some rummaging so he stuck the note to the tray and rushed out the shop.

In the afternoon, Lance could only think about the boy. Who was he? Why was he so cute? What’s his name?
And suddenly, a ping.
He picked up his phone in the speed of lightning, looking at the message, an unknown number texting him ‘hey, it’s Keith’.
Keith? He didn’t know a Keith.
‘Who?’ Lance texted back.
‘Coffee shop guy’ another message showed up.
Keith.
Christ they went to the same school! He had heard about a Keith before, and he’d definitely walked past the boy without specifically paying attention to him.
He repeated Keith’s name over and over, he liked it.
‘oh hi pretty boy’ he tried to be smug. ‘I’m Lance, cute name btw’ he added.
‘Thank you?’ the message glowed on Lance’s phone screen.
‘We should go out’ Lance texted,
‘Sometime’ he added,
‘Sometime tomorrow’ he added again.
