Chapter 1: Sidney’s Awakening

Chapter Text

“Sidney? Sidney?”

Mark’s voice. Calling her. But for how long?

Sidney blinked. She obviously wasn’t dead; she knew that if she had died, she would obviously be in the afterlife with Mom and Dad. Mark wasn’t dead. Tatum was fine. Everything was all well and good. Everything was fine.

”Mark…” Sidney said. “What happened?”

The doctor came in the room. “You were badly stabbed,” she said. “It was Jill Roberts as well as Gale Weathers and Dewey Riley who saved your life."

"Stabbed…” That would explain the pain. “How badly?”

”Well, you also suffered some injuries that affected your memory,” said the doctor. “The memories may return in time. You at least know your name, and you know your husband, right?”

Sidney nodded. She didn’t miss Mark’s sigh of relief.

”How do you feel?” The doctor said.

”In pain. And…I don’t remember that night.”

”Normal given the injuries you suffered,” the doctor said.

”If Jill saved me, I owe her one,” Sidney said. “How is she?”

”Badly injured." said the doctor. “Trevor and Charlie apparently threw her into a table.”

Sidney already decided that whatever had killed Charlie and Trevor wasn’t harsh enough. Bastards, she thought. "Is she going to be all right?"

The doctor nodded. “She’s a tough kid.”

That Sidney couldn’t deny.

“You should rest,” the doctor said. “You were badly stabbed, and there’s no use aggravating the injuries. You’re lucky to be alive, Sidney Prescott.”

She walked away, and Mark took Sidney’s hand.

”Is Tatum…” Sidney began.

”Mom’s babysitting her. She’s okay."

”Thank God.” Sidney’s voice cracked as she spoke, and she squeezed Mark’s hand tighter.

”We’re going to get through this together, Sid,” Mark said. “I promise.”

Somehow, that felt like a promise they both could keep.
