Work Header

come on and bite me, Mr Vampire

Summary:

This is Yeji's fault, really - that she's stuck at this frat party, starving but unable to feed just yet. She had woken up that morning, fangs already poking her bottom lip, and realised that she had run out of blood bags. Panicked, she called her supplier, who told her that there was currently a shortage of bags, and she’d have to wait at least a week before getting her usual order. As a last-ditch effort, she’d thrown on a passable outfit and shown up to some random frat house party to feed.

It's her fault, too, that she's so picky.

Work Text:

Yeji casually leans against the wall of the living room, scanning the cramped room with her sharp gaze. She takes a swig of a mystery drink from the red solo cup which had been shoved into her hands the moment she stepped through the door, trying to hide her grimace when all that greets her tongue is the taste of ashes. She dubiously inspects the contents of the cup, double checking that there weren’t actually ashes in it. With a sigh, she goes back to her people-watching.

The whole room reeks of alcohol and sweat and weed and Yeji can feel her skin crawl every time she breathes in. She stares at the couple making out rather furiously on the couch in front of her, eyes flitting to the exposed curve of the girl’s neck, subconsciously licking her lips before forcing herself to look away and taking another small sip of her drink.

Her fangs are itching in her mouth, begging to come out, and she runs her tongue over the slightly exposed tips. The arm not occupied with a drink is folded over her aching stomach, which growls every time she catches a whiff of someone walking by. She’s sure her eyes are completely red at that point, but those could be easily written off as coloured contact lenses.

This is her fault, really - that she's stuck at this frat party, starving but unable to feed just yet.

Yeji wrinkles her nose as a group of jocks brushes past her into the kitchen, leering at her with unsteady eyes, clearly already wasted. One of them wolf whistles and another blows a sloppy, uncoordinated kiss at her. Their friends cheer and goad them on and Yeji can only roll her eyes at them, repulsed. Their blood was coursing with alcohol and probably drugs and it smelled gross. As much as she would have liked to kill them, their blood would have tasted absolutely disgusting. Also, and probably most importantly, she didn’t actually kill anyone she fed on. The idea of killing someone for nothing but her own benefit made her feel queasy. Regardless of how shitty of a person they were.

Does that mean she’s often still hungry even after feeding? Yes, but that was what she had blood bags for. Usually.

With another quick scan of the room, Yeji sighs and pushes herself off the wall, making her way into a different area of the house. Everyone at this party seemed to either be dead drunk, sky high, or with their friends, so that eliminated the majority of them from being Yeji’s next meal.

That is, until she sees her

Her, with raven hair and chocolate eyes, leaning against a wall in the dining area, alone, looking bored. She takes a sip of her drink, cringing and looking into the cup with a frown. Yeji puts on her best charming smile, making her way over.

“Hey,” Yeji greets, leaning against the wall next to the girl. She startles, and Yeji can hear her pulse quicken briefly. Her eyes snap to her, and she clears her throat.

“Hello,” She says, with a curt nod of her head. Yeji takes another tentative sip of her drink, if for nothing but blending in, taking in her new companion’s outfit of a Nirvana graphic-tee tucked into a short skirt, and biker jacket that’s hanging loosely off one shoulder. “Cool lenses.”

“Thanks.”

A brief silence.

“You alone here?” Yeji asks, hoping she sounded more curious than creepy, looking around the room as nonchalantly as possible. The other girl hums noncommittally, copying Yeji’s movement.

“Depends who’s asking,” She responds eventually, with a shrug. Yeji glances at her with a coy smile.

“Yeji. Hwang Yeji.”

The girl raises a brow.

“Baseball team?”

Yeji nods, chuckling when the girl gives her an impressed look.

“How'd you know?”

“You’re something of a micro-celebrity on campus, you know? But also, I have friends on the team,” Yeji lets out a slightly embarrassed laugh at that. The girl smiles, whisker dimples dipping into her cheeks. “I'm Shin Ryujin, nice to meet you.”

They lapse into a comfortable silence, momentarily distracted by a rowdy game of beer pong being played at the dining table. Well, Yeji can’t ignore the fact that Ryujin smells irresistible, and with the way her stomach is rumbling, she’s worried the other girl would hear it even over all the noise. Thankfully, Ryujin turns to face her after a moment. Yeji takes in an anticipatory breath, glancing at her curiously.

“Look, Yeji, I'm not gonna lie, I just got dumped, and I think you're really fucking hot, so do you wanna make out or not?” She asks bluntly, prompting Yeji to flash her a disarming grin, eyes glowing.

“Yeah, sure.”

Yeji grunts as her back hits the cold, hard brick wall of some dingy alleyway, but any complaint is immediately swallowed in a fierce kiss. Ryujin groans against her mouth, lips moving in tandem with hers. Her hands are on Yeji’s hips in a surprisingly strong grip, setting a demanding pace right off the bat. Her own hands are wandering below Ryujin’s jacket, pulling her shirt up and stroking the soft skin of her midriff. They had made out in the dining room of the frat house before Yeji breathlessly suggested they go back to her apartment, to which Ryujin immediately agreed. They made out some more in the back of the cab, and now Ryujin has her pressed against the wall of her apartment building, hidden in the shadows.

Contrary to all human food and drinks, Ryujin tastes sweet, so sweet - like the chocolate covered fruits that Yeji used to love before she got turned. She smells good too - clean, likely didn’t drink often or smoke at all. Perfect for her.

Yeji moans when Ryujin tugs harshly at her bottom lip with her teeth, licking and sucking it, and if Yeji wasn’t already actively starving it would have left her lightheaded. She would love to keep making out with Ryujin and her incredibly talented mouth, but she catches another hint of her smell and can't take it anymore.

As gently as she can with the desperation and hunger coursing through her, Yeji flips their positions so that Ryujin is pressed against the wall. The other girl doesn’t seem to mind, detaching their lips so they can catch their breath. Yeji’s eyes flicker over Ryujin’s face, admiring the way her cheeks have flushed pink. Before she turned, Yeji would have taken pride in making a pretty girl blush like that, but right now all that pink meant was blood. Yeji places a string of frantic, open-mouthed kisses to Ryujin’s jaw, sending a full body shiver through the other girl when her tongue brushes over a particularly sensitive spot. Yeji makes her way down to her neck, taking her time to savour the tanginess of her skin, the saccharine smell that emanates off her. Her teeth brush over her pulse point, and Yeji presses her tongue flat against it just to feel the strong coursing of blood with every heartbeat. Ryujin shivers again, letting out a small whine.

With a final kiss to Ryujin’s neck, Yeji sinks her fangs in, groaning at the coppery taste finally coating her tongue. She was right, Ryujin tastes so good. Yeji sucks and laps at the open wound, feeling the girl beneath her struggle and squirm from the pain, attempting to push Yeji away a few times, though she was no match for Yeji’s literal inhuman strength. She briefly detaches to mumble praises and comfort into Ryujin’s ear, stroking her cheek softly, before going back to feeding. Ryujin calms down after that, in part due to the blood loss, and sinks heavily into Yeji’s hold.

Once she’d had her fill, Yeji releases her neck with an audible pop, licking languidly over the punctures to heal them, and to catch any remaining drops of blood. Ryujin is breathing heavily, leaning most of her weight on Yeji and definitely on the verge of passing out if she hasn’t already. Yeji kisses her cheek sweetly, before bending down to pick her up and carry her back to her apartment.

The next morning, Yeji finds herself in a considerably better mood, waking up early in the morning with an almost full belly and no longer aching fangs. She stretches with a sigh, pushing herself up to start the day.

Her back aches slightly from where she had been sleeping on her tiny couch in the living room of her apartment, with Ryujin occupying her bedroom. It was the least she could do for the girl, honestly. Getting dumped then fed on by a vampire in the same night was probably pretty rough. Not that she'd remember the latter though.

After washing up, Yeji decides to go out to get some breakfast for her guest, knowing that she’d wake up feeling pretty shitty and hungry. She walks down to a cafe nearby her apartment, humming to herself and contentedly soaking up the warmth of the rising sun that shines on her. The bell hanging on the door rings as she enters, and she breathes in the comforting smell of freshly baked bread and coffee. Even though she couldn’t taste them, at least she could still smell them. It’s the little things that matter, right?

The cashier waves at her as she walks up.

“Why do you look so happy today?” Jisu asks with a sly smile, already keying in Yeji’s usual order. Yeji rolls her eyes playfully, taking out her credit card to pay.

“If I’m here to buy food, you already know why.”

Jisu’s grin turns mischievous, and Yeji sighs internally at her best friend’s antics. Jisu leans closer conspiratorially, though it’s not like any of her co-workers would have known what they were talking about.

“Is she hot?” She asks with a wiggle of her eyebrows.

If Yeji could blush, she would have. But because she can’t, she just scoffs.

“Why do you want to know?”

Apparently that was enough of an answer, because Yeji leans over to smack Jisu on the shoulder when she “oohs” at her suggestively, frowning childishly when she just laughs harder.

Jisu found out she was a vampire entirely by accident. Yeji just happened to be very forgetful and Jisu somehow had impeccable timing. Yeji forgot to lock her door while chowing down on a blood bag one day, much to the surprise of her best friend who had a key to her apartment. After the initial shock passed, Jisu had been very understanding of Yeji’s situation, much to the relief of the older girl. She doesn't know what she'd do without Jisu in her life.

Yeji bids farewell to her friend once she hands her the food, and makes her way back to her apartment.

By the time she gets back, the sun is well up already, but Ryujin still hasn’t emerged from Yeji’s bedroom. Yeji gingerly places the food she bought on her kitchen counter, then sets about cleaning the place up a little, just to keep herself busy.

She’s in the middle of rearranging some photos on a shelf in her living room, when she hears her bedroom door open.

“Good morning,” She chirps, sending a smile to Ryujin as she walks out of the room. The girl's hair is messy and sleep-mused, clothes from the night before frumpled, an absolutely adorable sleepy frown on her face that makes Yeji want to squeal and squish her cheeks. Her hand is rubbing her neck, though the marks from Yeji’s bite have faded already, undoubtedly sore.

“There’s a spare toothbrush in the bathroom, just over there. I put some of my spare clothes there, too, if you want to wear them. Feel free to use my stuff in the shower!”

Yeji’s cheery smile grows awkward the longer Ryujin just stands there and glares at her like she insulted her mother. A few beats pass, and Ryujin stalks into Yeji’s bathroom without a word, slamming the door harshly behind her. Yeji lets out a confused breath when she hears the shower start up.

Okay, weird. Yeji shakes her head, figuring Ryujin is probably just tired, and not really a morning person. Yeji goes back to the kitchen, taking the food out of the takeaway boxes and plating it nicely for Ryujin. She places it on the kitchen island, taking a seat opposite where she placed the plate and taking her phone out to pass the time.

Yeji looks up when the bathroom door opens, and Ryujin appears. Her hair is damp, face now free from makeup, and she looks a lot more awake than when she first stepped out of Yeji’s room. She’s still wearing her Nirvana shirt, though she’s also got Yeji’s spare grey sweatpants on, and Yeji will be the first to admit she looks incredibly sexy. That opinion is rescinded slightly when she notices the blatant glare still fixed on the shorter girl’s face, even as she walks over and sits down opposite Yeji. Yeji gulps when she meets her gaze, the ferocity enough to make her want to look away.

So she does, suddenly finding the scratches on her kitchen countertop very interesting, still feeling Ryujin’s eyes burning holes into the side of her face. She winces when Ryujin deliberately scrapes her metal fork against her porcelain plate, spearing a piece of bacon and shoving it into her mouth. Yeji feels the need to explain herself, for some reason - like a child being reprimanded by a teacher. She occasionally braves a glance at Ryujin, who all the while has her eyes on her as she silently eats her breakfast.

Eventually, finally, Ryujin opens her mouth and says something, though the words that come out make Yeji choke on her saliva.

“You’re a vampire, aren’t you?”

Ryujin jumps when Yeji chokes and practically hacks out a lung at her abrupt question, looking like she wants to help her, but not being sure how to. Yeji stumbles to grab a cup, filling it with water and taking a few gulps to calm herself down. Once she has, she spins around to face Ryujin, not-at-all suspicious smile on her face.

“Wh-what makes you say that?” She sputters, not-at-all suspiciously, and Ryujin can only stare at her incredulously with a face that says “Seriously?”. Yeji can feel her act crumbling rapidly - though it really wasn’t much of an act to begin with - and she sighs.

“Sorry,” She mumbles, though she feels relieved when Ryujin doesn’t immediately scream or try to attack her. Astonishingly, the other girl’s glare drops entirely, and she’s now looking at Yeji with something akin to pity. That expression might be worse than the glaring, but Yeji would take it over being staked in her own home. Ryujin goes back to her food, and Yeji sits back down across from her.

“How’d you know? I thought my hypnosis would have erased all your memories of last night.”

Ryujin hums in confirmation, swallowing her bite of pancake.

“You’re right, I don’t remember anything from last night. Which is strange, isn’t it? I know I didn’t drink much, but next thing I know I’m in some random girl’s apartment, feeling hungover as fuck.”

Yeji has the sense to look a little sheepish at that. Ryujin smiles.

“Also, one of my friends is a vampire. I know what it feels like to be bitten.”

Yeji’s head whips up at that, eyes widening in surprise.

“What? Who?”

“Shin Yuna, freshman, tall girl, sports science major? You probably don’t know her. She's on the floorball team.”

Yeji mentally runs through the list of names and faces she knows from school, and shakes her head when the name draws a blank. Ryujin shrugs.

“I can introduce her to you, if you’d like. I think you two would get along well.”

As excited as Yeji is at the prospect of meeting another vampire, she still hesitantly asks, “But why?”

Ryujin gives her a curious look, and Yeji clarifies, “Why do that for me? You barely know me. Also I bit you. Most people would be kinda turned off by that, I think.”

Ryujin chuckles, and the sound makes Yeji think her heart has miraculously started again.

“I meant it when I told you I think you’re hot, you know? And you’re still a good person, despite, well, that,” She gestures vaguely to Yeji’s mouth, and Yeji nods in understanding. “I’d like to get to know you better. Also, you’re a damn good kisser.”

Ryujin laughs at the embarrassed look on Yeji’s face. The rest of Ryujin’s breakfast goes by quickly, with the pair falling into amicable silence, and before long Ryujin is gathering her belongings to leave. She pauses at the front door, after pulling on her shoes, suddenly shoving her phone in Yeji’s face. Yeji blinks at the device, stunned.

“Your number. You do have a phone, right?” Ryujin teases, and Yeji mentally slaps herself.

“Yes! Yes. I do.” She grabs the phone and quickly types in her number, handing it back to Ryujin.

“Thanks. I’ll see you around, Yeji.” She grins, and before Yeji can respond, she darts forward and pecks Yeji’s cheek. Yeji only manages to squeak out a “Bye” before Ryujin turns on her heel, flashing her one last smirk over her shoulder and leaving Yeji to scream internally in her doorway.

She closes the door eventually, when Ryujin’s scent has fully dissipated, and exhales shakily, gently thumping her forehead against the wood a few times just to make sure she’s still physically in the world. She looks down at her phone in her hand when it pings with a message.
