Sometimes you know And I just know, That's my girl

Summary:

Nancy leaned up, capturing Robin's lips in her own like nothing else mattered right now.
Robin kissed back as she always would, her grip on Nancy's waist getting a bit tighter but losing
nothing of its gentleness. Nancy knew one hundred percent that in Robin's arms she would always
find her safe place.

Work Text:

It had been raining heavily outside, the usual warmth of long July days pushed aside for the special
mood only summer rain could provide. Robin had been cuddled up inside, an empty coffee mug
sitting on the bedside table while a bunch of guitar strings lay in front of her.

She had been busy
replacing her old strings, careful not to accidentally cut herself and get a scolding from Nancy once
her girlfriend returned from classes.
The soft rain was hitting against the glass windows, leaving a wild mix of different patterns in its
wake as it ran down. Robin loved the rain. Loved hearing it and feeling how her nervous system
would settle just a little. The lanky girl loved watching it too, her eyes tracing the drops with a smile.

Robin checked the clock nearing two p.m. and shot up, tripping over herself while stumbling out of
the bedroom to the kitchen.

Spending time in the kitchen made Robin's heart swell a little, because it was such a perfect mix
between her personality and Nancy's. The walls were a beautiful ocean blue, memories of them
painting the walls together rushing by. The laughter, warmth, and kisses they had shared that day
filled the place with the love they held for each other.
Their toaster was pink, picked out by Nancy, but it fit in so well.

Robin's eyes landed on the flowers standing by the window: some red roses and yellow tulips. She
walked over and took a sniff, making herself sneeze.
Robin turned the radio on, humming along to Pretty Woman as Roy sang away at it. For a second
the question of what should be for lunch hung in the air until Robin remembered Nancy mentioning
some recipe she had wanted to try out. The paper was pinned to the fridge, which thanks to Robin
was covered in stickers from movies, music, little aliens and cats.

Every time Robin came home with a sheepish smile and yet another sticker, Nancy would act
annoyed — but secretly she loved it.
Just as Robin had found what she was looking for, the door clicked open, announcing Nancy's
return home.

Robin soon felt two arms settling around her waist, a comfortable weight pressing into her back.
Robin breathed out as Nancy breathed in, the smell of Robin's body wash being just what she
needed right now.
“I missed you, Ro.”

Robin still tended to blush whenever Nancy used the nickname, that not being any different now.
She was busy reading through what ingredients she would need, mentally preparing the steps in
her mind.
Nancy leaned over her shoulder, standing on her tiptoes to peek at what her girlfriend was doing.
“Oh, isn't that the recipe I was talking about the other night?”

Robin turned around in Nancy's embrace, gently breaking the hold and instead hugging Nancy's
waist while Nancy's arms naturally went around her neck.
She looked down at her girl, one hand tucking some loose locks behind Nancy's ear.
Nancy blinked at her, completely mesmerized by the taller girl. It was so sweet, soft like the clouds Robin had started to play with the locks of hair she was holding, curling and uncurling them in her
fingers.

They giggled into the kiss, breaking apart with the biggest smiles on their faces like two dorks.
Nancy sometimes asked herself how she had gotten so lucky to end up with a softie like Robin.
In Robin, Nancy had found what she had been looking for all along. A partner that cooked surprise
lunches after tiring days. A partner that ran hot baths and massaged her when she was stressed or
upset. A woman so madly in love with her that when they had first started college together Robin
once ran after Nancy for fifteen minutes because she had forgotten her water bottle at their place.

When Robin had finally caught up to her — out of breath and red in the face, still smiling and happy
to see Nancy — Nancy was sure that the only person she would ever want in this life was this tall,
lanky, quirky woman tripping over her shoelaces twice a day.

All Robin had said was:
“Well Nance, you need your water, because if you don't hydrate you'll get even shorter than you
already are without the needed neutrons for your body to grow.”

It was stupid, but so Robin to say.
Nancy hadn't given a damn about standing in the middle of campus. She kissed Robin with such
force the taller girl stumbled back.

Back in their kitchen Robin suddenly had a very urgent question, blue eyes scanning Nancy up and
down with raised eyebrows.

“Wait Nance, how are you so dry? It's raining cats and dogs outside".

Nancy pecked Robin's lips again before squeezing her hand, looking sideways to the front door.

“I took an umbrella with me, babe. I told you before that checking the weather report in the morning
is the smart thing to do.”

“You only say that because of the one time I didn't think of bringing a jacket with me in winter and
ended up freezing.”

Nancy's face said it all. She was teasing Robin, but two could play that game.

A glint shimmered in Robin's gaze as she switched their positions, now Nancy the one against the
counter. Her hands slid under Nancy's shirt, cold fingers meeting sun-warmed skin.
Nancy welcomed the change in mood, more than happy to make out with her hot girlfriend.
Robin's fingers grazed her ribcage before circling to the small of her back, the firm warm pressure
combined with Robin's tongue in her mouth making Nancy sigh.

Nancy let her hands wander down to the string of Robin's shorts for one second before Robin
grabbed them and pinned them down to the counter.
Nancy felt her skin prickle, sparks going off in her body at the dominant gesture.

She moaned into Robin's mouth once — and then out loud when Robin decided that Nancy's neck
needed some attention too.
Nancy was too lost in Robin and her touch and the crazy feeling of want the blonde made her feel to
notice the smirk on her lips.

“You know, love,” Robin spoke while trailing kisses up the skin of Nancy's throat, “for a reporter you
sure are easily distracted by a kiss.”

Before Nancy could figure out what that meant she suddenly felt two fingers digging into her sides.
Robin was tickling her.
Robin's laughter filled the space while Nancy tried to push the other girl away.
“Stop it Robin, stop it please!” Nancy choked out between laughter.

Soon Robin dropped her hands, the attack being over.
The taller girl was smiling, eyes bright, and even though Nancy didn't appreciate being tickled all
that much she knew Robin was just having fun.

Breathless, Nancy pulled Robin in close again, their foreheads resting against each other.
“You are such an idiot, Robin Buckley.”
“But I am your idiot, Nancy Wheeler.”
And so with music playing in the background, rain falling outside and the smell of some pasta
cooking on the stove, the two enjoyed their time together — just them two in their little bubble.

Notes:

Hey guys, I am back after the two month break. Things have been a bit crazy but it's okay now. Wrote this cause I was in the mood for something cozy and warm and these two dorks deserve having it cozy and warm.

Thanks for reading :)

Happy national womens day🫶🏻
