Work Text:

Exhausted; drained of one's physical or mental resources.
In other words…Very tired.

That's how Shuichi felt at the moment as he sat silently at the table in the library he had called his “home base” for the last few days. He had done nothing but search the academy that was keeping both him and his fellow peers hostage within its cold walls in search of some form of escape besides the provided idea of killing another from monokuma himself. After all, anyone with common sense would know that this was not truly an option to them as it was more than a moral to even consider the option of death for freedom and yet the fact that was still on the table worried shuichi, after all, several of his friends had already fallen in an attempt to assist with their escape.
He couldn't allow that to happen again.

The detective rubbed his Temple with a gentle hand, allowing a grown to escape him as he slumped back slightly against the chair, the palm of his hand feeling Cold against his face allowing him some form of relief for a brief moment before he felt the skin heat up against it.
Perhaps he needed a break-
no.
What he thought he needed to work harder after all they were short on time had to even take a break for just a moment could be precious time wasted.

However it seemed not everyone was as stressed as he was as the sound of chuckles and giggles echo throughout the hallway outside the library making him wince as his head throbbed with an incoming migraine; he knew that laugh anywhere, it was the same one that had his stomach doing small summersaults every time he heard it, and even with all the trouble the other man caused: it was his favorite sound of all.

“Ah! Saihara chan! I knew I would find you here- Bet you'll never guess who I am!” a familiar voice chuckled as the sound of footsteps approaching him from behind as a set of hands quickly replaced over the detective's eyes, briefly throwing his world into darkness.

“Ah…Ouma…-”
Shuichi almost let out a soft sigh, the leader’s cold yet small hands feeling nice against his warm face- however he refrained- feeling that to do so would be throwing away any sense of dignity he had left around the other, however the near action didn't go unnoticed by the Short male behind him

“....”
“What's wrong with you right now?” The supreme leader questioned pulling his hands away after a few moments causing the detective to straighten back up slightly, turning his gaze to the other with a confused expression
“I don't understand what you mean-” the dark haired man questioned, watching the others purple eyes narrow in disbelief

“Asshole- I know your not stupid-”
“Wanna explain to me why you are as warm as a furnace right now?”
the Shorter growls, clearly a bit annoyed with his detective's dumb behavior, causing the detective to give a sheepish smile in return

“I…suppose I didn't notice…”
Shuichi tried to say, hoping the other wouldn't notice as he rested his head against his hand that he had propped against the table

“Are you- nishishi…Was that a Lie Saihara chan? Are you trying to lie to a liar?” Kokichi chuckles, moving to stand at the side of the table to get a better look at the other. While he was no detective it obviously didn't take one to see how sick the other looked at the moment; a flushed face, clammy and hot skin and clear beads of sweat starting to drip down against his neck- these were obviously clear cut signs of some form of illness.

“....”
“Your sick aren't you-” the leader asked, leaning closer to the other a smug expression crossing his face: the motion making Shuichi jump with a small bit of surprise- had it been obvious? Had the detective been sloppy with the symptoms he had wanted to hide from his friends?
“No!” the blueish haired man chirped, lightly pushing Ouma back slightly with a firm hand against the others chest- he was embarrassed that his cover for his worsening condition had been blow
“Im quite alright…just a bit-..tired..” shuichi tried to explain, causing the other to still look unconvinced but seemingly letting it go for now
“Well then- if you say so…” his eyes flickered across the others form as he moved back, twirls slightly towards the door as he casted a glance back towards the other

“But do remember my dear Saihara…”
“I'm always watching~” he purred, taking his leave from the room as he left the detective sitting in stunned silence

He needed to be more careful.
