Work Text:
The clock in Noelle's room had hit 4PM, which meant that it's been an hour since Noelle had laid down on her bed and hadn't gotten up. Was the reason tied to the fact that she was trapped within the arms of a certain purple dragon who had no intention of letting her go? Probably.
Today, like every other Saturday, her mom would be at work all day and wouldn't be home till at least 7pm, which meant that like every other Saturday, she would be home alone the whole day. But unlike other Saturdays, she decided that maybe this time, she didn't need to be home alone; she had a girlfriend now and she's been waiting for so long (a few days) for an opportunity to spend an entire day with her, so as soon as her mother had stepped out of their house, she picked up her phone and called Susie, telling her to come over.
In the morning, they played video games, an occasion for Noelle to show Susie the pacifist route of Dragon Blazer II and for Susie to discover all the fighting games Noelle owned. After a long gaming session, they went out to eat at the dinner before going back home, with Susie completely full and tired. So when she started yawning and told Noelle she wanted to rest, Noelle saw an excuse for them to cuddle, and that's how from 3 to 4 pm, they hadn't moved from Noelle’s bed.
Noelle felt like she could stay here forever, it wouldn't be too bad to remain in Susie's arms eternally, she'd actually like that a lot, to die together in each other's arms would be so romantic, and right now she didn't want to get up eve—
She heard a growling noise coming from her left. When she looked over that direction, she saw Susie, her face flushing from what seemed to be embarrassment.
“... I think I'm hungry,” she stated, looking away.
Noelle raised an eyebrow. “Didn’t you almost eat the whole QC dinner menu just a few hours ago?”
Susie's face somehow became even more red as she looked down.
“Would you want to bake something with me?” Noelle proposed, saving her girlfriend from her embarrassment,”I think we have enough ingredients to bake a pie…”
Susie visibly beamed hearing those words. “Oh hell yeah! I didn't know you knew how to bake pies, that's cool.”
“Well, I don't really know how to…” Noelle admitted, “but you'll be here to help me right? It surely can't be that hard!”
————————————————————
Turns out it was that hard.
They were now on their third attempt and things weren't looking any better than previously. Their first attempt had resulted in literal pie soup, and when their second attempt was at least solid, it ended up burnt everywhere. This time, they had managed to make it solid and not burnt, but the pie that laid in front of them could hardly be called a pie judging by its distorted shape and its horrible appearance.
Susie and Noelle looked at each other. It was clear none of them wanted to taste it, but one of them had to.
“Susie, don't you usually like eating anything ? You should try tasting it first!” Noelle took the pie—or the mixture of ingredients that was intended to be a pie—and tried to give it to Susie.
“Well, I'd really like to taste it first” Susie started, the expression on her face contradicting every word she was saying, “but I think you worked harder on it, so it's more fair that you get the first taste, you know?”
“Oh don't worry, it doesn't bother me! You can eat all you want,” Noelle got closer to Susie, now pushing the pie against her, below her chest.
“I don't know, I don't really feel like it right now—”
Before Susie finished her sentence, Noelle lifted her head and locked her lips with Susie's, leading them into a short kiss before Noelle backed out, now holding the pie in front of Susie's face.
“Do you feel like it yet?” She asked, grinning. She already knew the answer.
Susie stayed silent as she blinked twice, before taking the pie in her hands. “Fine, you know how to convince me.”
She headed over to the table and took the smallest bite she could—which was very uncharacteristic of Susie, but understandable given the conditions. She closed her eyes as she brought the spoon to her mouth and…
“Hey, it's actually not that bad.” Susie said, opening her eyes and looking a little surprised.
Noelle didn't expect that. Did they actually make an edible pie this time? Curious, she took the spoon from Susie's hands and took a bite on her own.
Before immediately coughing, trying to spit it out of her mouth into a napkin.
“Ha! I can't believe you fell for it,” Susie laughed audibly as she watched Noelle drink a fully filled glass of water as an attempt to rinse off the taste it had.
“I hate you,” Noelle grumbled, but the small smile she had on her face betrayed her. Having fun with Susie like this always brightened her day, even if it meant she'd have to sacrifice her tastebuds and ruin her self-esteem when it comes to baking.
“Yeah, I'm sure you do,” Susie grinned, before looking around her. “Wow, your kitchen is a mess now.”
“I wonder whose fault it is,” Noelle deadpanned, “if I recall correctly, you were the one who didn't know how to cut apples correctly and ended up smashing them into pieces without being careful it wouldn't go on the floor.”
“Sorry,” Susie looked down, “I can help you clean it up before your mom gets home.”
“Let's do it later,” Noelle said as she took off her apron and headed over to the living room. “Right now, let's go to the grocery store, we'll get you something to eat before you go insane and try to eat my candy cane pens. Again.”
“Not my fault they look so realistic…” Susie mumbled, but joined Noelle who was already at the door, put her shoes on and gently took Noelle's hand, interlinking their fingers, before heading outside to the grocery store.
