Work Text:
What a year it had been. Winning Melodifestivalen. Representing Sweden in Eurovision and finishing 4th. That, and everything that followed was quite a lot for three Fenno-Swedish guys. It had been a hectic but fun time. And now that all of it was officially behind them, it was time to let loose and just enjoy themselves.
That was exactly what Jakob had done. The Mello after party had been a fun time for him. Kevin and Axel had already left around 2 am and asked if Jakob was going to join them. But he had politely declined and stayed at the party. He had stayed until he was asked to leave in the morning.
Now he had made it to the hotel and staggered down the quiet corridor, on his way to the hotel room he shared with his friends. Jakob was quite drunk and his footing unsteady, to a point where he had to rely on the wall for support. Upon reaching the correct room he searched for the key card in his pocket and thankfully found it right where it was supposed to be. The last thing he wanted to do was start banging on the door so he could be let in.
He struggled quite a bit with getting the key card to work with him, up to a point where he started to wonder if he stood at the wrong door, after all. But thankfully this wasn't the case and he was able to enter the room. It was completely dark, and the occupants happily asleep in their beds. Jakob closed the door behind him as quietly as he could, and then tried to focus on taking off his shoes. It was, quite understandably, a bit of a struggle, and he almost lost his balance and had to lean on the door. He couldn't keep himself from giggling and tried shushing himself. This, of course, resulted in more poorly held in laughter. He was on such a great mood as he got back to taking off his shoes.
After finally succeeding, Jakob shuffled through the room, keeping his arms outstretched in front of him so he wouldn't bump into anything. It was half a miracle that neither Axel or Kevin had woken up yet, because he wasn't exactly being silent, no matter how hard he tried. In the bathroom, he turned on the faucet and splashed some water on his face before bending down to drink some water. He didn't have the patience to wait for the water to get cold enough for his liking, but it still tasted almost heavenly after a number of alcoholic drinks. With some water still dripping down his chin, Jakob left the bathroom.
Right outside the bathroom door was where he realized that he hadn't been anywhere near as quiet as he'd tried to be.
"Hi,"
Jakob breathed out with a happy smile adorning his face. Kevin looked back at him in the soft light of the desk lamp. It looked like Jakob had, at some point, spilled some drink on himself, but he had clearly been having a good time.
"You were gone for a long time. How much fun did you have?"
Kevin wondered in a quiet tone and a familiar, subtle smile on his face.
"I stayed for as long as I could.. Until they told me it was time to leave. And.. I said that I was going to enjoy the party this time.."
Jakob managed to mumble in between his giggles, again trying his best to stifle them.
"That you did,"
Kevin mused as he placed his hands on Jakob's shoulders to help his friend stay upright.
"And I'd say you earned it. We all did, after the hectic year we've had."
"Some of the other partygoers.. I showed them photos of Alfons,"
Jakob told Kevin when they a moment later were sitting on the couch.
"All the ones I have on my phone. And.. You remember that video I took of him while we were outside, playing with the ball? I showed that, too. To everyone who was interested in seeing it. And I got to dance on a table, Kev. Or.. I don't know if they wanted me to, but I.. I did it,"
Jakob announced as he flailed with his arms, still excited about the after party and the whole experience.
After they'd spent almost half an hour talking, with Jakob telling Kevin everything in great detail, the sun was starting to rise from behind the horizon.
"I think I need to get to bed.."
Jakob finally said, unable to hold back a yawn.
"I think you should, too,"
Kevin agreed.
"You've had a long night."
Jakob nodded and got up on his feet, with some help from Kevin.
"Thanks.. For listening to everything I had to say.."
Jakob mumbled, his eyes barely staying open, as he waddled over to Kevin's bed and went to lie down, still wearing the t-shirt and pants he wore at the party. It didn't take long at all for Jakob to knock himself out. The otherwise so quiet room was filled with soft snoring.
Kevin smiled as he made his way to the bathroom and filled a mug with cold water. Coming back, he set it down on the bedside table, along with a painkiller for when Jakob would wake up, in case he'd have one hell of a hangover.
Kevin stood there for a little while and looked at his snoozing friend with nothing but soft fondness in his eyes.
"Good night, Jakob,"
he mouthed the words.
"And.. You're welcome. You know I'll always listen when you want to talk."
Jakob couldn't hear his words anymore and thus didn't respond, but Kevin was right. He knew.
He had always known.
