“We’re supposed to stay with Judy until everyone has left, Ed,” she said as she played with the edge of the tablecloth with one hand, her other on top of his thigh.
“Hon, I’m sure Judy and Tony can handle it.” He placed his hand over hers.
“But I promised her we’d stay.” Lorraine turned her head to look at him.
“Just tell her that I’m tired or that we’re tired.” Ed reached out for his glass cup filled with cold water and took a sip. “She’ll understand. Unless… you want to go find somewhere here?”
